Did you get the Deathstorm box set then Squall?
Just been assembling mine last night actually. Though I had to call it a night as my fan heater just didn't cut it in the man cave! Bitterly cold here in the UK- having some sort of 'Weather Bomb' over here.

No, I've had these guys around for awhile. I haven't played with my BA much, since the codex is SOOOO bad. I don't mind a little weak, but the BA dex is a joke. That will hopefully be fixed Saturday, so it inspired me to pull out some of my models and get to work.
I thought about the Deathstorm box, but I don't play Nids and have all of those BA models except for the Termie captain. I will probably end up buying him off eBay.

Digging the work on the Death Company. I am still a bit put off by the amount of detail on them, I may try and tone them down a bit. Loving your scheme though, the grey areas really help add definition.
To my shame I bought 2 Deathstorms, but having nearly sold all the Tyranids and rulebooks I have all but paid back my spending.

Thanks guys! I've actually spent some more time on the BA but nothing is done yet. Took some time off this morning from painting to do some converting. Made a few new chaos cultists. I've seen some guys on Dakka do some pretty crazy things with these models, but I went for some simple conversions. Tell me what you think. All 5 have something done to them. Some are more obvious than others. My two favorites a little closer up. I went with my wife to the grocery store this morning. There is a goodwill next door to it and we always stop in there and look around before we go. I found this in there today for 2$ and thought it would scale great for fantasy / mordheim games. I think it does pretty well for 2 dollars. Thoughts? Also in this picture is the Pegasus Hobbies river that I just got in yesterday. Thats it for now. Should have more up later today, as I have some free time this weekend. Thanks for looking and feel free to comment.

Cool stuff, reminds me I need to eventually so something with the Cultists I have lying around. And I have to say, you giving that guy a Riot Shield has given me an idea...
And I'm all for using toys as wargames stuff, especially if the price is right. (I'm in the middle of doing up a bunch of toy Star Wars stuff for gaming/display) That castle should make a very nice Wizardy Tower, Vampirey Dungeon or Imperial Manor. Do you plan to paint it up?

I really hadn't planned to paint it, but now that both of you have mentioned it, I made do something to it. If nothing else add a wash to make the bricks stand out more and make it look a little more dilapidated.
Also, I love riot shields, and have been thinking for awhile that the bretonnian shield would make a good one. Turned out pretty well IMHO. Now the question is, Paradigm, what are you planning on?

Something vaguely concerning some more Grimdark Inquisitorial Crusaders. I have a couple of squads already that use WFB Empire parts, but that's for my more fancy and decorated Ordo Xenos Warband. My Ordo Hereticus could do with something a little more grimy and ragged, I think.

Had some free time today so I worked on some of the Chaos guys I had converted. My group and I are doing a 1k per person team tourney soon, so I may bring my CSM. The bases aren't done because my Armageddon Dust dried out, but I will fix that this weekend. Anyways, here are the pics.
Plague Marines I converted a little while back. They look cooler in person, as the camera washed out some of the color no matter what I tried. Oh well.
And two of the cultists I showed last time. The riot shield I did freehand... which is painfully obvious. Oh well. It looks pretty good from 3 feet away and thats what I was going for with the cultists.
And thats about it. Thanks for looking and as always, feel free to comment.

Great Plague Marines! and my suggestion if you want to neaten the shield is some washes/weathering; the more you make it look bashed up, the less it'll matter how straight the lines are. And besides, I like to think these things just get daubed in paint by whatever the servitor/worker/cultist has to hand, so it's never going to be neat!

Tank looks good. I like the mud on the treads/wheels.
Post up a pic of the terrain once it's primed if you like, the different materials are stifling my imagination lol. Definitely looks like some kind of arcane/gothic pump station or power whatsit though.

Your wish is my command, Grim. Took a few pics with just the primer. Here they are. I'm quite fond of it, if I do say so myself.
Already started painting. I don't have an airbrush, so its going to take me awhile, but I will post progress when its at a point where it warrants it.

Yeah it looks a lot more coherent already. Definitely either a waste treatment facility or a power generator whatsit. The colors you use and maybe signage could help direct the theme also.
Looking forward to it

I am late to the party as always (I blame my wife). The cultists look excellent. I REALLY like the riot shield, will definitely be stealing that idea at some point. The hodge podge terrain piece looks really effective. Good eye to spot that one.

Thanks guys!
Archer, the riot shield was kind of a stroke of genius! I've always wanted to have some models with them but could never find anything that looked right. I've been using Bret men at arms for zombies so I had all their shields left over and it just kind of hit me. I will probably do some more before its all said and done.
The mud on the treads is just stirland mud, which is GW's textured paint. If you can't tell from every base on this blog, I'm a HUGE fan of GW's textured paint. I think it ads a nice look to the tank and have been doing it on all my IG tanks.
Hopefully will get some more work on the building tonight, as well as the Chimera. Just noticed I've been working on this blog for exactly a year. Its been a good year for hobbying!

So I spent some more time last night working on the as yet unnamed structure. I realized its going to take awhile, and with the tournament two weeks away, I don't know if I will have time to get it done along with my army. I figured the army was more important so I kept up work on the Chimera. But I have to bring SOMETHING to the tourney, so I figured I would make something easy. A few hours later, these industrial pipes came to life. This will be my contribution / entry to the terrain contest. Not the greatest, but perfectly serviceable.
I made them out of CPVC pipe and fittings.
I then primed them black, and put down two layers of P3 Blighted gold. Then a quick nuln oil wash.
I then put quite a bit (maybe too much) of the GW oxide technical paint, followed by a little Typhus corrosion.
I finished it off with a Vallejo dark brown wash.
So thats it. It was a pretty easy project to get done in an evening, and I was able to work on the chimera while things were drying.
On another note, I started this blog one year ago today. Pretty cool to look back and see how much I've gotten accomplished. Hopefully will be able to get even more done this year. For the next two weeks I will be focused on my Guard army (The Baal 111th) to get ready for the doubles tourney I have in two weeks. Expect pictures of tanks soon.

While I'm interested to see where your other piece ends up, those pipes are pretty nice. Should be plenty to hide even a fairly large unit behind, and maybe a tank or two could get hull down as well.

Ok. One last update before I'm done for the day. I've spent a good chunk of the day on hobbying (I also went and saw the new Hobbit movie with my wife) so I wanted to show my progress. First, a quick WIP of "the building". Two coats of brown paint on the main structure, plus the pipes and a few shades of dark gray on some of the circular odds and ends. Next is my second (of three) chimeras for my IG army, The Baal 111th. Looks similar to my other one, but I made it different enough when I build them to be able to tell them apart. Really pleased with how it came out. And thats it, on this one year anniversary of my blog. Thanks for looking and as always, feel free to comment!
