That's a lot of cool stuff. And a Nuka World teaser on top of it.

I sure hope the repellent stick makes molerats explode. On stream it sounded more like it works as advertised. That would be terrible.

May be worth adding that on the stream they said there's a small gap of a couple of months between the current wave and the Capital wave dedicated to restocking old stuff, so the first of the previewed stuff isn't coming out just yet.

Is it that long ago or are these new faces? I have literally zero recollection of these characters...

Most excited for the plastic kit, though I expect no savings and just a few more options. Plastic critters and raiders would be nice.

The Nuka World characters are Nisha, boss of the Disciples, Savoy, one of her lieutenants, and Mags Black, co-boss of the Operators.

For Fallout 3, Moira Brown runs Craterside Supplies in Megaton and sends you off to help her write the Wasteland Survival Guide. Lucas Simms is the sheriff of Megaton. Not sure there's much more to him than that.

You know Three Dog, right? Who doesn't know Three Dog?

The Brotherhood bozos are all the upper echelon, with Star Paladin Cross being available as a companion.

Madison Li is a co-worker of James (your dad) and later on joins the Brotherhood. Her older self features in Fallout 4 as well.

Reilly's Rangers feature if you save Reilly or stumble upon them while exploring, but I guess they don't play that big a part in the game.

Charon is a bit hard to spot among the other zombies at Underworld, but he's a companion if you keep that kind of company. Fawkes is locked up when you find him, and if you don't pay attention or are in a hurry you may miss him. Also a companion. You'll have a hard time missing Butch since he's also from Vault 101 and available as a companion if you return to the Vault. Also he's a bully and a moron. That character pack is what I'd call an acquired taste.

Rosa is the only one I couldn't place without the reminder that was on the stream. Apparently she sells water from Project Purity outside Megaton or something. That one isn't exactly among the cast of memorable characters as far as I'm concerned.

I remain very enthusiastic about plastic power armor, this kit and any others coming. I'm just sitting here waiting with my lunchbox full of bottlecaps.

I remain very dissatisfied with the scale/proportion of the human miniatures, as they don't fit in with the rest of my 28mm post-apoc. But that's okay - at this point, I have sufficient minis and STLs to kitbash reasonable approximations of what I need, while using Modiphius power armor, creatures, and super mutants. I just need to pick up the rules (and file away YET ANOTHER deck of cards, large and small, somewhere).

I do wish it were easier to pick up individual suits of power armor (usually characters) and the super mutant companions that come in the box sets, but I'll figure out a way around that.

What I'd REALLY love to see from Modiphius would be an STL release weapon pack for conversion purposes, both for converting their minis and kitbashing. The old resin set (Wave 1? 2?) now seems a bit paltry and inefficient compared to the wide range of weapon options in the game now.

Ya. Jon mentioned on the Modiphius forums that April was the month they were aiming for.

There are more Power Armor kits coming so eventually that will get better. being able to pick up some individual models would be nice but I don't Modiphius has the capability (manpower/money) to enable that at their factory and warehouse.

Weapon and head STLs have been a top request so they're not unaware of that desire. We'll have to see if anything happens--maybe once they rework all the core faction generic units to be multipart there would be enough demand for something like that. But there are more resin weapon kits coming for the plastic kits to have more options.

They actually did sell that at the bethesda store but looks like they're gone. I bought some just this past October, including a wall mounted deathclaw head, in a big sale they had for like $10. The ones from Modiphius are better in my opinion. The ones Bethesda sold were pristine and were also missing the plastic ring inside like a real bottlecap. I know Modiphius caps are made by a factory that actually makes bottlecaps for drinks which explains why they're better quality.

The last of wave 7 is out.

Also some more stls based off of FO76

Lastly Funagain, the partner for Modiphius's NA store, is closing down in April and ending fulfillment in the middle of March.

Funagain Logistics, our current warehousing partner fulfilling modiphius.us web store orders, has announced that they will be closing. We’re sad to see them go, but we’re already organising an alternative partner for web store fulfilment in North America and will share more news when we have it.

We don’t expect these changes to impact customers or cause problems with webstore orders during this period, but if you are concerned about a particular order please reach out to support@modiphius.com

An update from Jon on Plastics for the game via discord. Pretty exciting if that's your jam.

...the plastics for Factions will be 100% the same (not just scale, literally the same model/frame) as the Wasteland Warfare versions.

The three Nuka World gangs (currently in tooling) will be the first "core" set done in plastic, and will likely arrive for Wasteland Warfare first, depending on the layout speed/production of Factions.

So, if you buy a gang for one game you get a gang for both.

The gangs are 10 models per box, with each model having at least two builds (two weapon/head options per scupt). The boss level character has three weapon options and some of the support bosses have three also. So, at least 21-22 unique poses/weapon load outs per box, before you get to the basing details, grenades, pouches and the like that are added.

Colin has now moved on to the first four replacement faction core boxes, Survivors, Super Mutants, Raiders and Brotherhood that will form part of wave 10 WW and wave 2 Factions.

But yeah, same scale, same box of minis, more options and all hard plastic.

So wave 10, which the community was thinking is FO76 based due to hints of a Colossus being in the sculpting pipeline, will see plastic boxes of the original factions + raiders. In addition to the 3 raider sets in wave 9. And all will be intended for Fallout Factions too. Also Jon hinted last week that Wave 10 has more aliens in it so it's going to be an interesting release in 2024.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

A bit late to be posting this here, but think they managed to nail the suitably disgusting look of the Centaur!

I have read as well that the sculpted bases are no longer going to be included with the boxsets. My initial fear was they were getting rid of them entirely (all of my stuff so far is based on them and I don't like having to change!) but it sounds like they will be available in a separate pack.

Ya. it was in the last blog. There will be pre-sculpted bases for sale but they won't have as much random scatter from the sounds of it but they released an STL set of basing greebles with the announcement. The plastic bases that will be coming with the kits are also based off their resin base master so they're the same just with no details.

Modiphius has a survey out for FWW around how you play the game and what, gameplay wise, you want to see more of in the future. Being a sandbox game there's lots of ways each expansion of the game can be played so they're curious how people actually enjoy the game.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfEq7RZ4YO9-ycr7__f14YvfVuAQ7Pzb0o20s-_bp912t64rQ/viewform

By filling out the survey, which requires an email, you're entering into a drawing for a 100 pound giftcard to the store.

Weirdly (perhaps) I'd love to hear from people who either don't play it or tried and bounced off also... I'm as keen to hear about the negatives as the positives to help guide the line.

It's not weird at all, it would be a good idea.

FWW popped up in my Humble Bundle email:

Not entirely familiar with the franchise, but it looks like this is for the FWW games, rather than the Fallout RPG? Also includes .stls for terrain. $1 starts you off with FWW, and higher pledge levels include the RPG supplement and .stl's.

It's the same answer as the last five years: I'm tired of collecting cards to play a wargame.

The rules are intriguing and engaging (especially for narrative solo play), but there's a lot of supplements and add-ons where there's Yet More Damned Cards where a 1d6, 2d6, or 1d10 chart would do the job without killing as many trees or cluttering up my table nearly as much.

And that's the perfect example of why a survey is so useful - I massively prefer having cards over looking up on a reference table.

With the wave 7 book you can do either or. You get the cards for the Wasteland Deck but there are tables you roll on to get them and the card text is included in the cards. Wave 8 is continuing that from what we were told with the tables as separate pages so you don't have to have the book open.

The cards worked great with Wave 1 and 2. Since Wave 3, I've amassed enough cards that I have two small CCG card boxes full of large cards and a gigantic pile of small cards I can't find a box made for that size card large enough to store them in an organized fashion. It's approaching the number of cards in my full collection of Arkham Horror second edition, and that's just insane- I have a plastic tacklebox organizer per expansion for that game.

While the cards were a faster method of organizing the information in the early game, it now has the opposite effect, as I have no idea how many Laser Rifle cards I have, or where in the piles they are. It's a setup that punishes collectors over dabbling players, and that's probably not a great place to be if you're the company trying to sell the wargame as much as you can.

I love Fallout WW but the whole cards thing is dragging it down for completionists.

At the same time what's the alternative? Force people to use the app? Make people write everything out in pieces of paper so set up takes way longer? Or just require people to memorize every weapon/item/perk and then have to have access to all the various books to check what you don't remember?

All of those sound worse than the cards.

All of those are cheaper than the cards (apart from maybe the app), and aren’t reliant on a whole separate production run.

The content on the cards would still need to be printed in the books. I'd be really surprised if the die cut cards they use now would be significantly more expensive then non die-cut pages of equivalent space (maybe less pages due to not having to print the back of the cards). The die-cut stuff is done at the same printer I believe as the books so there's no separate run for New Vegas going forward and I wouldn't be surprised to see the older sets eventually get moved to die-cut when reprint time comes around.

You're asking to give up something for a cost savings that really doesn't exist yet would make the game take way longer to prep for to the point where it would just be simpler to play an RPG if I have to spend an hour putting together each unit by jumping between books and writing out all the symbols on my paper.

I'm really glad the app and cards are available that way. That seems to work really well for a Song of Ice and Fire too, if you have missed earlier card packs or rules have been updated it's a simple way of getting to it. I like features like the random draw for events and things like that too.

I honestly like the app for list building, event deck, item deck, etc...

But having the character cards and their appropriate items and weapon cards in front of you makes it so much easier for quick reference.

I tried using just the app but it isn't super convenient for that purpose. For card draws and list building it is the best.

So, if you buy a gang for one game you get a gang for both.
So one of the games referenced here is FWW but what is the other?

So Modiphius is making plastic figures for the 2d20 FO RPG or do you mean the FWW RPG?

No idea. Fallout is Fallout though, unless one of the rpgs uses some crazy scale any of the models should work just fine.

Fallout Wasteland Warfare and Fallout Factions.

Factions is the forthcoming wargame written by James Hewitt that is more focussed on combat vs WW.
There is a lot loss customisation, so you don’t get to pick from the “entire” fallout gear list, but there is still build options for every model in your gang. It also focuses on campaign play, allowing for characters to grow and develop, risk injury etc.

It also uses standard polyhedral dice (d10s) and has a massively reduced component count featuring far fewer cards and tokens.

First set will be Nuka World themed, with the three raider gangs in plastic plus rules for two more factions from the main line.

You could of course use all the minis for the rpg too if you play RPGs that way. Samantha is trying to steal some sculpt time for a new character pack there which I may finally relent to allowing

Well Jon, thanks for the heads up and I’ll be faithfully buying into FW Factions just as I have been FWW, FO 2d20, and TES CTA.

I quite like FWW for how well it handles narrative play but a FO minis game with less tokens and cards would be nice, too.
