Add horns, spikes & crazy hairdos. Buy some CSM bitz off of Ebay or an online bitz store. Or trade off the SM's for some CSM's.

Well, you could always file off all the SM markings, add some CSM bits, get some GS and make a bunch of "Nurgle renegades".

Converted loyalists to Chaos almost never look good in my opinion. There's a little more to Chaos armor than supergluing a spike or two on them. Besides, the AoBR Marines are covered in all kinds of Imperial doodads, like the chest eagles, tactical arrows, and purity seals. You can try, but I can't say they'll look too good.

What Brother SRM says is true, their are a lot of "little" intricancies in chaos armour, and he also makes a good point concerning the amount of Imperial icons on the AoBR marines.
I did manage to convert 2 AoBR terminators into "Plauge Terminators",but I used alot of GS,bored out the heads and added CSM terminator arms and bits, honestly I wouldn't have bothered except I had them from the "freebies" that were stuck on the AoBR White Dwarf.

The Dreadnougt's not bad to convert, but I'm not sure the rest would be worth the effort. Maybe paint them to look like recent converts - graffitti "X's" throught he symbols, scratched off symbols, etc. Regular Chaos marines are pretty cheap on E-bay ($.50 a soldier is pretty easy to nail down, a bit over $1 for new on sprue or primed).

Dunno about the Terminators. They're expensive enough to maybe be worth messing with, but I doubt it's easy.

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

I dont think it would be that difficult - but base some fluff around it. IE, a recently turned squad. Ive got some nurgalised iron hands planned, and the corruption will arise from 'pits' in the armour, a tiny bit of Green stuffing and painting them as 'rusted' steel.

My advice would be not to go overboard on the spikes - they can look a bit 'trite' if not well integrated into the model.

Ive done a corrupted loyalist predator here as an example (with no spikes): http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-14062-5008_Darkkt%27s%20Steel%20Decay%20Legion.html

You may also consider adding some 'greenstuff scales' to go alpha legion - which nicely covers up any unwanted aquilla/loyalist symbols.

Just cross out the imperial doodles. Call them green recruits.

The following was an ultra marine that is now a chaos dude.

The tactical arrows and purity seals seem like the hardest thing to deal with, but otherwise shouldn't be too hard, maybe buy a box of chaos marines too and mix up bitz until you have a result you like (remember, chaos marines have a chain-sword in addition to their other weapons, I donno if you want to model this on every marine or not...but it might help them seem more like renegades.)

Purity seals are easy to chop and file. As opposed to filing all the tactical arrows off, you can (if you are competent with green stuff) fill in the bits between the arrows and the pad trim... Much easier, smoother, and gives a great opportunity to start chaosifying them.

I did this to mine because blood angels don't have tactical arrow markings. Some got filed off, some got filled in.

Make them Alpha Legion - they pretend to be loyalist to infiltrate Imperial worlds. You could add the odd chaos back pack (from a bits store on line) t 'chaos' them up a bit.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

The easiest way would be deface the Imperuim icons on there Chest( just take a knife and cut a few lines thur them) add a few spiky bits.... and make them into wordbearers( you can keep the seals and make them unholy seal)

I did it here.

Basically file off all of the imperial insignia. Try to find some chaos bits, especially the front torso, and swap it on the aobr dudes. Use chaos helmets, or if you have to use sm helmets, try to ding them up with some battle damage. Any self-respecting chaos player should have a box of extra spikes and bolters so utilise those as much as possible.
If you're going the Nurgle route it's even easier, just GS a bunch of pustules and blisters.

You could always just chop the helmets off complete, add heads from the Zombie sprue, and add battle damage.

Make them newly reincarnated CSM.

I'm merging bits from the Zombie Sprue with the Berzerker boxed set to get the "undead Marine" effect. They'll be used as Plague Marines. It looks good.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

Well here is an AOBR terminator i converted up to chaos, required a little GS, a little guitar wire, and some toothpicks. But overall it was rather easy to do.
