Alright, so I'm starting to grow tired of MW2. Don't get me wrong - the Multiplayer is great. But the amount of Hacking is driving... me... insane!

So, I'm trying to think of another game to look into, and I'm hoping Dakka might be of assistance.

I find I'm partial to RTS/RPG/FPS games, so if you know any good titles, post one or two suggestions here, and a few points on why you enjoyed them. If you have some screenshots to add in, bonus cookies for you

The eye of Terror

well the standard are great, Mass Effect, the original, any halo game is great but obvious, would suggest Fallout, Bioshock, and Assassin Creed 2 was utterly amazing, great storyline and length unlike the first one

What am I working with? PS3, PS2, 360, Wii, PSP, DS, PC, some, or all? I'll just assume you have the 360 . . . Get yourself Mass Effect and play it before the end of the month, if you haven't done so already, then brace yourself for Mass Effect 2. For sheer depth of play (and, IMO, worlds you can really fall into) try Oblivion and Fallout 3 . . . and brace yourself for New Vegas . . . sometime in 2010. If you're into having some mindless fun, rent (don't bother buying) Borderlands. Finally, don't let anyone convince you to buy Dragon Age: Origins, the most overrated game since Star Wars: Empire at War. Oh, and speaking of Star Wars, Force Unleashed is pretty entertaining (you can't ask too much from Lucas Arts) but it's definitely a renter as well. Will add more suggestions when you reveal what platforms you have/more detail about games already mentioned if you ask for it.

Thanks. I have Mass Effect (Can't wait for 2!) And FO3, but I've heard some good ear-candy about Bioshock.

I guess I should list what I have huh?
I'm on a PC, and my games are as follows:

FO3
Mass Effect
Dragon Age: Origins (Didn't mind it, but could've been -way- better too. Ahh well, decent story at least.)
MW2
Company of Heroes & all Exp.
RTW
ETW
Sims 2 & 3
DoW & all but Soulstorm
DoW II
Tropico... 4? (Whichever the new one is)
SC4+RH
Worms 4
Ghost Recon I
Dead Space

I think that's all of it. Anyway, I have single-playthrough syndrome (Linear games are only fun once for me - hence the number of open-ended and skirmish games ) but I'll still happily buy a more linear game if it's good

Okay . . . PC. I'm a console man myself so bear with me. Bioshock is worth playing just to stay on top of what people are talking about, game-trope-wise, but don't expect it to live up to its reputation after playing FO3. Again, I'd recommend Borderlands for 10-20 hrs of FPS sci-fi Diablo fun and Force Unleashed if you're into SW. Definitely play Oblivion. I assure you, you will not regret it in the slightest. I've put over 300hrs into that game across PC, PS3, and 360 over the last four years. Simply wonderful. I've actually been thinking of starting up a new character.

If you're into single-player and skirmish games, I'd recommend Command and Conquer 3 and Red Alert 3.

I mean, come on. RA3 has Soviets with Attack Bears.

Parachuting attack bears, no less.

I second Oblivion. It's an amazing game.

Also, if you're looking at Bioshock as well, there's a pretty kickass game pack with Bioshock and Oblivion for less than a single 'hyped' game. (I didn't say good, but it's like 40 bucks in Canada).

Get Oblivion.

I can't stand Mass Effect. Maybe if they made some kind of uber-nasty hard core mode.

Supreme Commander.

Second for TF2.

Knights of the Old Republic 1, and 2 if you don't mind a few plot holes (interesting characters make up for a lot in my opinion).

Morrowind and its expansions are fun if you don't mind dated graphics.

On the note of Supreme Commander, just be sure that your computer can handle it - for whatever reason, it seems to be a graphics-heavy game (As my computer is better able to play new, modern games than it is able to play SC, and my computer is at least a few years old now).

As for TF2, it really depends on whether you like RPG elements in your FPS games, though it seems like you enjoy FPS and RPG games. Ever since Valve's push to add achievements and new weapons to the game, the game tends to become a bit of a grind fest to get the better weapons.

Knights of the Old Republic is an excellent title, though I would recommend the first game over the second (Which has a much weaker storyline, IMO). Not that II is bad - it's just that the first had a fantastic storyline, interesting characters (HK-47 is a riot) and a twist ending that most people didn't see coming the first time through.

Oh, and while Morrowind wasn't bad, I would give it a pass in favor of Oblivion. The main reason I say this is because combat has greatly improved from the series' third installment to its fourth. Instead of whether or not you even hit the enemy being determined by your skills and abilities, it's much more based on your personal playing skill.

One last thing, just want to throw out another +1 for Bioshock. Amazing game, some tongue-in-cheek humor, and a lot of fun playing around with the plasmids. A fair warning though, if you were hoping for a good neutral path (Not good, not evil) then don't be expecting much in the game's ending. I'll spoiler it for fair warning (It's nothing plot-related), but the ending is either
Spoiler:
you turn out to be an amazingly good-natured saint, or essentially a total jackass that starts World War III

Good caution, should have said so at first.

Its fun with, or without. Plenty of opportunities to kill.

Agreed. I played through KoTorII only because of Kreia. The villains were pretty good too.

Hated it. Spent beer money on it (BEER MONEY!). Weak plot, and easy game play. The second seems superior, with its many touches.

If these attack bears have machine guns, I'm sold. Remember the attack dogs in RA 1? Modded them to create a nuclear blast when they died. They also jumped across an entire map

And I have Oblivion. Some of the best cash I ever spend IMO. I just wish Bethesda would stop releasing games before they're bug tested. The crashes are so f**king annoying

Agree wholeheartedly. KotOR was my favorite game ever until I played Morrowind, which remains in my #1 spot now followed by Oblivion and FO3 in a tie for #2 (sorry, LucasArts). The Tribunal expansion is pure gold. As has been said, KotOR II is not as rewarding as its predecessor in some ways but I think it had more depth in others. They're both worth playing

Agreed metallifan , Personaly PC users should get S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadows of Chernobyle for RPG/RTS fun, it kinda reminds me of fallout 3 but much more realistic and a lot less glitchy, its not a ripoff of FO3 so it is a new experence.

btw dont bother getting stalker clear sky, and call of prypyat especially, if you dont have a good gameing computer
if its an ok gameing computer clear sky just might work on lowest setting (RAIN LITTERALY RUNS OF THE F N ROOFS!!) but CoP will not work at all
but STALKER SoC is a great game

TF2 ... updates every 3 months bring new and wacky ways to kill the enemy (normally nerfed after 2weeks) (so 3rd or 4th this)
Portal ... Puzzle solving FP ... worth playing.
Half life 2 ... not the hardest FPS but one worth playing (orange box includes HL2, HL2 EP1 &HL2 EP2)

Half life ... looking old but god was this hard to complete If you've ever played doom and enjoyed it you'll like this

Tachyon the fringe ... another oldie short but always enjoyable.

Just want to QFT/+1 for the Orange Box. Seriously. For (20 bucks now?) you get 5 games that are all awesome. You have to admit, Valve makes a damn fine game, although they need to get off their lazy rears and finish Half-Life 2 Episode 3.

KOTOR: I is so fun! Metalli won't believe me cause he doesn't like Star Wars, but regardless it is a fun game. I tried it on Xbox, but have heard the PC version is glitchy, is it?

Regardless, I was hoping someone else would recommend it so he'd actually try it - I thought it was pretty solid and replayable. (I'm not a Star Wars fan either!)

edit: I realize many posters raved about the game, but he doesn't seem to get the message
