Ok, there are tons of great threads full of good info about this. I'll look them up and post them later but in particular, DashofPepper is a great person to ask about orky tactics.

From my experience running several speed freeks lists nob bikers are an excellent kill everything we touch unit, however, that comes with the caveat that they'll take a tremendous amount of hostile fire. They're also extremely expensive point wise so each one that dies is a decent chunk of your army total. With that being said, a kitted up warboss biker (PK, BP, cybork, attack squig, kombi skorcha) can be extraordinarily destructive in his own right and with a nob biker retinue with a couple of PKs they'll wreck house.

Always go slugga boyz in trukks as shoota boyz are wasted. Give them a nob with a PK and bosspole, give the trukks rpj, reinforced ram and a boarding plank. If you really want, you can give them armour plates but I find it a little too expensive for my tastes.

I'm one of the most devout Diffcopta haters on this entire forum because they've NEVER EVER pulled their weight for me in a game. However, I will admit that their scout move is useful and they can be a good distraction force. I'd go with buggies and give them the trakk upgrade if you want (since they're fast you really don't need it all that often as you can usually zip past terrain) They are useful for popping light vehicles but in my experience a PK armed nob attacking off a boarding plank makes just as good of one if you can get in.

Warbikers, like nob bikers, will take a lot of firepower because they are ridiculously quick to get into close combat. They need bigger squads because otherwise they'll fail a leadership test sooner or later and drive right off the board. With a squad of 10 to 12 the enemy will have to kill more to force a panic test, plus if they get tank shocked they'll be at a much higher leadership because of mob rule. I have an all warbiker/biker nob list and it's fun and wins a lot but you have to be a little careful against heavy gun lines and lots of mechanized forces.

Battlewagons are a good choice for getting foot slogging nobz into combat, burnas are another great choice for them, as are units of 20 boyz. But for a purely kos list you need a big mek with a kff in the battlewagon. That'll give it and any vehicle within 6 inches a 4+ obscured. Now I personally take both nobz in a battlewagon with the warboss and burnas in a second with the kff toting big mek. Along with this I have 5 trukkloads of boyz. You could drop a trukk squad and pick up some buggies or koptas if you want. Both the burnas and nobz fulfill that omg close combat role and I honestly shouldn't use them both in a single list but I have a weakness for the "uber" units. If you dropped one of those you could have lots of buggies or koptas or a single unit of bikers.

Hope this helps, best of luck Stompin' dem oomies!

Dashofpepper is banned from the forums for labeling players who do the same thing over and over and lose but keep doing it stupid but here's some of his words of wisdom about building speed freaks:

About time. Alot of the people that were called stupid were not saying they were loosing, just asking for advice. There is nothing wise about someone with as closed a mind as to think there is only one way to win in such an open ended game. Not to mention all the followers he attained with all his self promotion (you know he never lost a game, not even once). Wonder what will happen now they are out of synapsis range.

Ah, didn't know that about ol' dash. Well it seems that winning all the time doesn't make you a good player. There's much more to it than that and apparently he felt that winning was more important than having fun. I've taken last place in several tourneys but we all had a great time playing it. So the moral of this story is... play what you like, have fun.

To answer your questions

Warbikers IMO should be taken in squads of 12, I know this seems expensive, but they are bassically a squad of 'ard boyz riding bikes. As a unit of 12 they will destroy whatever they crash into while staying fearless as long as possible.

Most people like deffkoptas better than warbuggies, the T5 and scout is too tempting, but warbuggies under a KFF will last longer, outflanking Deffkoptas will cause more headaches for your opponent, it's your call, whatever seems more fun will probably work.

I've run shooty boyz in trukks and not suffered for it, but choppy boyz in trukks is probably a better choice, if you have 5+ trukks you have a great chance of getting a turn 2 assault.

Vital piece of wargear for trukks, Reinforced ram, nothing sucks more than getting immobilized, ram makes it less likely. If you have anti-tank elsewhere in your list (like rokkit buggies) you can skip the rokkit/boarding plank/wreckin' ball but if not you may want to consider the plank. A good way to pop a tank without exposing yourself (because whoever gets out first is usually dead)

Warboss on bike+nob bikers= very yes, if small, it can make a great CC unit to crunch difficult targets, if huge it can make an entire army list Nob bikers are countered a lot nowadays though, I think in the current environment the nobs in a battlewagon is probably better...though not as speed freek. Warboss can add a lot to them even then (He dosn't even need mega armor....if you want him to have mega armor better shell out the points for Ghaz)

Aha, but I return. Now be nice. I've never thought there is only one way to win a game, but since stupid is a bad word, I'll say instead complaining about an army's weakness and inability to win out of one side of someone's mouth while promoting a weak list, tactics, and wargear configurations is....unwise.

Glad to see your back, I guess rumors of your demise were greatly exaggerated

Someone needs to compile all the long posts on tactics (and dash isn't the only one making them) into a big article.

Edit: Though I do thank God I'm not near as prolific as some other dakkaites, otherwise I might run the risk of letting it get to my head, getting full of myself, and getting banned.

Hilarious that bad players are badmouthing Dash just because he knows what efficiency is.

Well, that's because he can be quite annoying sometime. I suppose those people wouldnt have disliked him for no reason.
But I m quite surprised an old + married man (maybe not that old) like him actually argues over toy soldiers? Doesnt age and marriage make you a more matured person?

Thats the whole point! Who knows if I'm a bad player? Who knows if Dash is a bad player? He says he wins all the time, I could say I win all the time. Who's gunna prove it? I've only read one post of someone who has actually played Dash and the game was stopped in the middle for rules arguments. I don't think I'm a bad player but who knows. I bet there is several Dakkites that I have played that could vouch for me. My problem is that some of these "stupid people" could be 12 year olds wanting to have fun and just learning the game. I guess its cool to badmouth people/kids across the world anonamously for not having the same views as yourself .

P.S. to OP, Im so sorry to thread jack and I will not post my opinions of others any longer in this thread. Like a couple of post ago play to have fun and see what works for you.

Wow.

You know you can dislike a poster without, you know, breaking the forum rules.

Since this thread has turned from "advice" to "what I think about Dashofpepper", I'm locking it. If you'd like to actually discuss some tactics, please start another thread.

And if people continue to drag threads off-topic, suspensions will be handed out.
