It's a little tricky to work out initially but if you speak French you might find it to be of some use.
The good news is that English version should be hot on it's heels.

I thought that there was a one-month waiting period between the release of the codex and the release of the Army Builder files, something to keep GW happy.

Are you getting a message saying that your AB isn't the right version or something akin to that?

Scratch that, they don't take my type of card. (or anything that is not mastercard/visa it would seem, how frustrating)

Army builder is fun to have around. Nice way to put together armies without having to drag the books around.

Bonus: You can make it look enough like a spreadsheet to mess about with at work and not get too many weird looks.

Army Builder is a game unto itself. I play it more than I do 40k.

I like Army Builder, but I've heard horror story about the licensing so I tend to stick with Excel/OpenOffice Calc these days.

Keep meaning to finish off my little JavaScript Tau army building script though.

I've never had an issue with Army Builder and its licensing.

I highly recommend it, in fact!

If you bought the physical cd you won't have a problem.

If you downloaded it and activated it online there can be an issue when you get a new computer.

They do give you 2 licenses when you download it however, which alleviates most problems.

This thread is very timely, I literally just found a local games club to join and so found myself having to put together an army list for the first time ever in my years of making models but never playing the game, lol.

I got Army builder on the free download and once I'd loaded the ork list it took mere minutes to impress me, shocking how something that's basically admin can be made fun!

Anywaysm I thrashed out a list by doing 3 units at a time and added them up later but was highly considering bying it and wanted to say thanks for the positive feedback on it.

Also, thanks to Manimal for the cd tip, I'll be doing that as computer have a habit of dying on me.

Army builder is what the GW-issued program should have been, if it had been supported and maintained properly instead of being abandoned.

If you do change computer - just email the Army Builder people and they can reactivate your license for a new PC.

This happened to me when a new PC had to be replaced within a week of loading Army Builder to it.

Army Builder were Very Helpful.

Been using AB for a few years now and absolutely love it.
Its great to sit down and mess about making dream armies or just completely OTT ones.
Pen and paper used to be fun but theres something to be said for ease and speed of use.

+1 to this. The AB helpdesk is very helpful for licensing issues.

The only thing i don't like is the subscription model. If you want to keep using the auto download feature or want to move your license to a new computer you need to keep up your yearly subscription. The year starts on your purchase date of the original license purchase, not your renewal date.

So if you let your subscription lapse 6 months, your yearly renewal is only good until your original purchase date (so only 6 months).

It's not really a big deal, but surprised me the first time I experienced it.
