Hey all - I recently received my monolith in the mail ( took three months! )
Anyway, the fluff for my Necrons is, roughly, that they've been dormant for a very long time on a planet that has long since begun to grow plant life, to the point of jungles and swamps scattering half the planet. Rising from the earth and muck, they find their once shining, lustrous bodies rusted and bogged, every nook and cranny of their armor filled with unearthly brown sludge.
--
Whatever, dumb fluff, it's an excuse for a theme. Onto some pictures; though I'd appreciate some C & C if you're willing to offer any. Thank you.

Actually, that's pretty good - the final picture in particular really captures the mossy/lichen effect. I think this is excellent work; it's all too easy to get carrried away with weathering (especially with the new GW washes) and slather everything in Devlan Mud, but this is nicely understated and just hints at plant decay. Very nice!

Thank you very much, my camera has a poor time focusing itself and so the first picture really isn't very good.

Stupid work filters not letting me see the pictures.
If you upload your images to the Dakka gallery, everyone will be able to see them, and we will be able to rate them too

I'll do that then.

Now that I am at home, I have to say that it looks pretty damn good. Very swampy and slightly decayed, but not OTT.
Good work.

Thank you very much, I was going for exactly that and I'm colour blind in regards to most greens so this was a little odd for me.

Fantastic job- really gets across your fluff, and an excellent paint job. If you were to use a second Monolith, how about having a tree growing out of the top of it (I realise you're trying to be subtle, but could be fun, nes pas?")

Thank you! That's a great idea, I will definitely have a good think about that (Monoliths hurt my wallet though, haha).
Also, I'm having trouble coming up with a way to flock the Necron Warrior bases... I tried gravel (the GW one from the basing kit), but it looks too flat and uninteresting. I think I might do better with something that looks like mud and grass... does anyone have any idea on how to add these details? I'm also kind of hung up on what I should base my destroyers with... that's 60mm of base to cover... and I have no idea what to put there or how to get it to stay there.

That's awesome. Love how the metal isn't just plain silver like most of the other ones I've seen. Makes it so much more interesting if there's actually shading.

Funny. A couple of years ago I had the same idea. Needless to say I like your efforts.

Gale Force 9 has a number of basing products that might interest you. I see you are in Australia, so you might want to check out these guys - from what I gather, with their discount, free worldwide shipping and the exchange rate, you can save about 40% on AUS GW prices. Plus they have loads of other stuff for sale. Their basing stock is pretty extensive and draws from a number of different companies. Edits: Poor url-fu

Lovely work. Looks nice and decayed.
Would be a perfect candidate for some internal lighting... the glowing green would be a fantastic contrast for the muted, rotting tones...
