I haven't seen Re: Zero but if it's that good I'll give it a try. As far as Trains and Zombies go I'm fine with the villain being kinda contrived, because I don't take that show super seriously. It's just another zombie series to me, the politics part is just added to keep the plot from being like every other zombie media

Just watched episode 10 of kabeneri. Well crap...

I started watching the new Voltron. Very happy with it so far. Good mix of action comedy and character development. Reminds me of Avatar almost. (Yes I know some of the same people are involved)

Oh yeah. Joaquim des Santos directing, Andrea Romano as Voice Direction... It's fantastic. I'm very, very happy.

Well what a cliff-hanger for episode 11.

Anyone watching Terraformers? The tail ending to this season was somewhat confusing. There's apparently Terraformers operating on Earth? What?

So after catching up on anime the past two evenings, I have to say, Bungo Stray Dogs is definitely one of my favorites of the season. It features tons of references to Japanese authors (and a Canadian author) with the characters in the show.

Each of the major characters is named after a Japanese author, and their special gift relates (for the most part) to what that author was known for. This is kind of a spoiler for episode 1,

I liked it, and for the most part it didn't jump the rails like Kabaneri :(

Yeh, Bungo was pretty fun. I hope a second season in the works, as things appear to be escalating.

That was my biggest problem with it, it was good all the way through and then bam! Cranks it to 11 and sets up so much for a second season.

Thanks to this thread found Kabneri and enjoying the animation style and the unique setting.



The other thing that stands out to me is Suzuki, especially the voice acting.

The first episode of Berserk was released today and wonky, horrible uncanny valley visuals aside, it's grimdark, depressing and nihilistic AF.

Not to mention, they've finally after all those years moved on from the Band of Hawks arc.

Yeah, the cgi was weird and at times moved so quick with the angle changes I wasn't sure exactly what he was hitting. Did the recent movies show how he got away from the big demon party or is there a gap there? I mean I've been Told how he survived by someone's who's read some of the mangas, but I'd have liked to have seen it.

I think it hasn't been shown yet, aside from some verrrrry graphic glimpses. I think they're saving it for a later flashback, or so I hope.

I believe they did show how Guts escaped the Eclipse in the movies.

Just finished watching Berserk.

1) Sweet heavens I wish Japan would stop cutting frames from their CGI, there's no reason to do it, and it makes everything look choppy.

2) It looks like they're skipping the Lost Children arc, which isn't too important, but I would like more Berserk though...

Well trains and zombies is over, and it ended on a pretty meh note for me. Idk if they should have stretched it to more episodes, but I do think the last half of the season seemed pretty rushed. Also they could have developed the villain a little more, his motives seemed pretty thin for all the destruction and slaughter he causes. I'd probably give it a 6ish outa 10.
The first episode of the new Tales series just came out, hopping I can finally get a good fantasy series after idk how many seasons.

I was thinking about getting into Tales myself. Still on the fence.

Still waiting for High School Fleet's dub. Might give up and just watch it.

Sweetness and Lightning is adorable, but it's a sentimental adorable and not a funny adorable like most of these types of shows. Not gonna lie, got a bit teary at the end.

The Art Club has a Problem was cute and amusing enough to keep me interested.

Busy season so far, I guess. I also got my copy of Knight of the Twin Moons in the mail, my favorite Familiar of Zero season.

Agree. Binged the show after this thread, thought highly of the animation style and background, but the ending was just lazy to be honest. I only finished the season because of my completionist tendencies.

Binged Kuromukuro which apparently is a Netflix "Original" by virtue of them having global distribution/streaming rights. Right now a solid 6 out 10 as it falls just on the right side of will continue watching, but only if I have watched everything else. As soon as the summer season kicks into high gear, probably will forgot about the show. Mecha designs are definitely meh. Villains are kind of poorly designed and shallow at this point which is a shame because they had for a couple of episodes you starting to wonder if the visible enemy was the real enemy.

Finished High School Fleet recently and throughout the series kept thinking of Girls und Panzer which I definitely enjoyed more.

So I thought there'd never be censorship so annoying in a show as last year's Terra Formars. The constant string of black bars, boxes, and even circles, completely ruined the show in its initial run and were bizarre given than much gorier content has aired on Japanese TV before.

Welp. I found a show that managed to be even more annoying! Ange Vierge has it's all female cast spend almost the entirety of episode one in the nude, and avoid being cast a pure porn by casting blinding rays of light to hide the special bits! It's like someone watched JJTrek and thought "these bloom effects will be perfect for covering genitalia" XD

Yeah, that's a standard censorship technique. They use it in Big Order and To ru love, irrc. Its pretty bad.
Just where are those god rays coming from? Is there a spot light out of frame? Its just so painfully obvious.

I know. And it's not even like this is effective fan service at this point, so why have we even bothered? I actually don't think I've seen an anime dedicate its entire first episode to fan service like that XD

Just curious which anime from the new season you are enjoying the most or have been a pleasant or unpleasant surprise?

For me, Sweetness and Lightening and Alderamin on the Sky have been unexpected surprises as I didn't think I would enjoy them as much as I have.
