Like the title says. Vote and add a reply
I ask because I have purchase a monolith, which is unusable(no instructions, bits, and warped), a destroyer lordwith no indentation in the bottom for a skimmer base to attach(had to make the hole myself), several boxes of warriors with broken bases(had to use my spares from other armies) and some metal pieces which were broken(destroyer lords war scythe was snapped in half, had to repair it; deciever I bought had a crack which subsequently the model broke at when i pick it out of the box, and I had to repair that too)
Maybe I just have bad luck but Im interested in what you all think/have experienced.
(if this is wrong section please move)

I have had my share of messed up packaging.
Lictor: Shipped with two left legs. Resolution: They sent me an entirely new blister.
Carnifex: Same as above. Resolution: As these were the old metal ones, I believe they sent me a new leg.
Horrors: Shipped with more right arm configurations than right-arm configured bodies. Resolution: They sent me a new box of horrors.
I'm sure there are others that I'm forgetting, but at least the resolution is always quick and usually more than compensates for the problem.
On the same note, any time I've had a codex fall apart because of shoddy binding, they've always shipped me another, free of charge.

50/50 and 60/40 are not consistent with "sometimes"... I would say 10% mispacks is "often" in this context. Your poll results are going to be random.

50/50? Really? Half the things you buy are mispacked?
It used to be about 1 in 10 for me, same with Privateer Press. Haven't had a mispack in ages now.

Things I have had go bad for me:
1 multimelta barrel from a Hellhound.
1 GKPA arm was slightly warped.
I don't use the multimeltas and the GKPA, rather than hassle with calling them up, I just Green Stuffed the remainder of the shoulder back on and it looks good as new. All this out of the $1000+ I've spent on the hobby in the last year.
50% miscast/mispackaged is outrageous and did not happen unless you're dealing with a silly sample size.

I've had a dragon with 2 left wings, a Bretonnian blister without a part, and one time I got shipped the wrong number of slotta bases. But considering the large numbers of orders I've made, that's a very low percentage of mishaps.

I'd also like to note that the blister packs give you no real excuse for buying a mispacked/miscast product unless you're buying online. Shake it a little and you'll be able to see the contents.

I'm about 50-50, but a lot of that is my being nitpicky.
The main issue is warped sprues, but it seems like there's always some bit on one of the sprues that has slight scratching or distortion. In both cases, I'm guessing that the sprues weren't 100% cooled before being stacked & packed.

Never had a problem with the quality of models whilst ordering online.
I have had some late deliveries, missing kits etc etc but never any qc problems with the miniatures themselves.
I once bought a Lokhir Fellheart instore that was missing his arm but in 20+ yrs that's all the trouble that I have had.
I wish they would send me a few more mistakes as their 'returns' policy sounds very reasonable to me.
"Don't bother sending it back sir, we'll send you a new one asap."

I have had two issues:
- Terminator Chaplain: body, arms and base were in the blister, but the halo and other bits weren't there.
- Ork battleforce: the old one with boyz, bikes, a truck and a buggy. Just one wheel missing.
Given that I have bough a lot of stuff through this years, I wouldn't say this is a big problem. Big metal models impossible to put together are quite more irritating for me. I bought the mini of Eltharion with his ride, and the two halves of the gryphon's body are just gak.

Yep. They screw up AND their world famous customer service is laughable! E-mail and voicemails to GW US Customer Service a couple of weeks back got ZERO follow up. I had to take the stuff into a local GW (fortunate to have one or I'd be out of luck apparently) who went above and beyond since I didn't buy it from a GW store.
These stories of GW Customer Service bending over backwards are like fairy tales as far as I'm concerned. The local GW manager only hooked me up because he recognizes me as a semi-regular customer.
Yet another reason to buy 2nd hand from a trusted seller. At least you can see if all the bits are there.

You do realize that ANY FLGS that stocks GW products is supposed to adhere to GW's policy of replacing mispacks/miscasts in store, right? And you are also aware that GW stores are supposed to replace the stuff, even if you don't have a reciept or if you didn't buy it from them, right? The few times I've heard of where they didn't is when it seems like someone's trying to scam them. But I digress.
You won't get free stuff, for the most part, when you take it in to a FLGS/GW storefront proper. Because they send the miscasts/mispacks back.
But hey, if you called up Customer Service giving the kind of attitude you did in your post just now, I can understand why they glossed over you.
Frankly, the customer service department that I've had the most trouble with?
Privateer Press. I had gotten a box of Trenchers ages ago, and half the damn box was miscast to the point where I would have had to have dremeled the crap off and resculpt it from scratch.
And they had the gall to refuse to replace it because I couldn't find the "Packed By" slip from the blister tray.

Well I've had a few issues over the years, but small enough that it wasn't a nightmare, and when I called or went in to the GW store, it was taken care of right away.
So overall, no complaints

i very rarely find anything wrong with their packing, though recently a customer bought 6 Broadsides and 4 of them were missing the metal parts, and the other day a Fire Prism was missing the metals.. It happens every so often, but they are great about fixing it.

Yep, only problem I've every had was a ork big gunz blister, came with kannon barrel, kannon shield, wheels, kannon grotz but for some reason a zzap gun chassis, took it back they asked whether I wanted kannon or zzap gun, got me a new blister and sorted out the reciept, I said 'do you want the old one back?' holding out the offending mispacked model and the guy said 'nah, no use to us now you might as well keep it'.
Other than the warped metal killa kan torsos (which everyone seemed to get and I have come to believe was a mould issue at the end of it's life) have had no problems since

The only time I ever had to call GW customer service was years ago when I made an online order from them. I ordered about $250.00 worth of orks and After 5 weeks it still didn't show. I called CS they resent the order w/o a hassle it showed up a week later. 2 weeks later the original order showed up

Well, I've been doing this for going on four years and I've only run into three packing issues/parts issues.
I got a box of Kommandos with a broken part which GW did nothing for, so I wound up sticking a different Choppa on the one model. That was my only contact with email support at GW.
I got a Wierdboy without a leg, called GW and they sent me a new one without issue. The chap I spoke with on the phone was really nice about it too.
Recently, I found that one of my boxes of Sisters came without backpacks. I've still got to ring in on that one.
Realistically though, with the amount of stuff I've bought in the past few years from GW, I'm not crying over a couple of packaging issues. They've got a pretty good record from where I'm standing.

I have had 3 instances of mis-molded plastic stuff..
Loota sprue with a hole (like 2 inches) missing on the side of it... WGTerminator box with 4 shoulderpads only partially formed... and a tactical squad box that had double the "command" sprue and only 1 body sprue..
All of which the nice CSR at GW sent me replacements of the entire box..
I had to read off codes from the back of the boxes, but other than that, I got BONUS goodies.
It is almost to the point where I hope and pray that I get mismolded stuff.. lol

If there is one thing GW does well its replacements for missing/miscast parts.... Ive had a predator heavy bolter sponson missing, a couple miscast blisters... All it took was a phone call to GW saying what was wrong and I got replacement parts. They barely asked for any information as well.

GW has always been good in this regard. In my 18 or so years of playing GW games I can count on one hand the number of mispacks or damaged/missing bits I have experienced.
Compare to another company I buy a lot from in which I have 2-3 issues a year...
GW does plenty of stuff wrong, but this isn't an area I have ever had issue with them over...

I called and left voicemail that I was missing something and a couple of e-mails to the same effect. All my communications were polite. All phone calls were voicemail because I never got in contact with a human. Vitriol came from being gaffed off. Appreciate your insight, though.
FLGS don't carry more than a single box of any model and I'm within 10 miles of a GW so I took a gamble. Problem is fixed but that bit about the on-line/phone guys being responsive is garbage as far as I'm concerned.

There have only been a couple times I've had problems with GW product and they've always sent replacement parts or whole models for the inconvenience.
I've actually had more instances with FW than with GW. Not sure why...
