the storm eagle has been scrapped.(so no model) no storm raven, if there was it would have been up for advanced order already.

why do you say that? cause i read the new BA dex. there is a storm raven gunship and the WIP shot of the storm eagle was so early stages it could still be in the design phase i guess. lastly the storm eagle is listed in the new IA 8 contents list.

The "Storm Eagle" for IA8 not being up for preorder doesn't mean it's scrapped. The book isn't up on preorder yet, does that mean it was scrapped?

The caption says he wasnt allowed to make it, so it will probably not show up in the next IA sadly enough.

Probably too many similarities with the upcoming blood angels one.

its the RG skimmer with the caption:

"Darren show pictures of the model he wasnt allowed to make"

so could that be the end of that model or is it now the Ba skimmer.

And the plot thickens!

while that is pretty good evidence. that caption could be taken many ways. maybe he couldnt build it at games day? regardless its still in the table of contents for IG 8 and i dont think they will completely scrap it.

Really? I asked about it at games day and I was told that it was a project that wasn’t officially green lighted yet, not cancelled. Be a shame if they have. Surely they would to release some large kit for space marines to accompany the book.

IA8 should already be away to the printers so the index we've seen should stand. Just because they wouldn't let him make that model doesn't mean there's no model.

that list is pretty old and wasn't an actual page.

edit.

He isn't allowed to make them now, but who knows? I heard similar stuff over at the Frenzy. They got tons and tons of stuff they want to do, but can't. FOR NOW.

interesting. the caption could mean FW isn't coming out with it ever, that the particular sculptor wasn't allowed to work on it (but someone else is), or that FW isn't because GW appropriated it for mainstream 40k (ala the storm raven in plastic in the future).

No loss.. its a horrible model anyway. Rather have something actually cool looking instead of "two cargo containers glued together with wings"

Aren’t space marine flying vehicles supposed to look like big boxes with wings?

I will give it to you. The thunderbolt is pretty cool by far the best looking flyer for the game.

Just a shame that the new IA Apoc 2 book made the Thunderbolt (along with every other fighter in the game) completely fething useless at the side of the Lightning.

As for the Storm Raven - I'd put my house on that being in the second wave of BA stuff - but I also reckon that this will be shortly before an updated DA codex comes out that lets you take the same thing...

After all, we can't have 5 different codices for SPESS MAHRINES!!! and then not let them take identical gear.

That would just be rude.

While you sleep, they'll be waiting...

Have you thought about the Axis of Evil pension scheme?

Just use their previous rules. Apoc Formations are for Apoc, not for regular 40K.

Obviously you *can*, its just that IA has fully moved over to the idea of 'one' datasheet for every model, and that datasheet is now 'Apoc' style...and the IA volumes don't even print the old Gargantuan Creatures, Super-Heavy & Flyer rules anymore...they are all just pulled from the Apoc rules.

In other words, while you can obviously play with old rules for any unit, at this point that's like pulling out a 3rd edition codex and trying to use it with the current game. It can be done, but requires a bit of fudging to do between you and your opponent.

I would be much more interested in the Storm Raven from GW. I still can't believe they didn't release it in the first wave.

absolutely agree. they should have the identical wargear, or at least only have one set of rules for the same thing in multiple armies. i mean that would be as bad as if GW had different rules for drop pods in the black templar, dark angel, and 5th edition marine codices and refused to update them with an faq/errata. or if gw had the same wargear, say for instance the storm shield, for the same price with 3 different levels of usefulness in daemonhunters, dark angels, and C:SM... oh wait, that's exactly how rude GW actually is.

Work on the Blood Angels codex and models was already underway when the Imperial Guard codex was coming out. GW saw how well the Valkyrie did and wanted a Space Marine repeat and the Stormraven was added as an after thought. Because of that, all the other models were ready and the larger lead time required to produce a vehicle kit pushed it into being a second wave release.

That makes sense. Still can't wait for the model though.
