Ive only ordered my miniatures direct from gw and well im trying get some dark eldar cheap i herd a lot about maelstrom on this site. So im curious how reliable are they?

They are reliable in terms of not ripping you off, and in terms of free shipping.

They are reliable in terms of you eventually getting your product.

And up until recently, they have had a 100% track record of getting us the models correctly and cheaply.

However, my brother has had 2 wrong shipments. And 2 recently ordered 2 new Ven Dreads, and we received a Wave Serpent instead. However, they are quick to rectify mistakes, and have a reasonably quick turn around. And honestly, with all the shipping that they do, I can imagine that every once in a while they get it wrong. At the discoount they ship at, its not bad.

I've been ordering from them for years. I've had one mistake in that entire time (during the X-Mas rush, during a UK postal worker strike - so not Maelstrom's fault).

Order from them. Save loads and loads of money.

I Too have ordered substantial amounts from Maelstrom Games. They are the best 40k Shop for non-US guys, and might even be the best for them if the exchange rate is right at the time.

I have ordered quite a lot from them with no mistakes. Great service (responding to emails) and free shipping makes the difference for me. Can sometimes take longer than you may expect, if they do not have that particular product in stock at the time. I can recommend them.

I consider them the premiere online retailer for Dark Eldar stuff, as they consistently have a much wider selection then any other online retailer who is worth a gak.

Since I'm across the pond I usually wait for one of their (frequent) sales, but I endorse them fully.

I have bought from them before, and was not disappointed. It took awhile, but so does most international shipping.

If you are interested keep an eye on Druchii.net, they usually post promotion codes when Maelstrom is having a sale.

Just be sure that whatever you want is actually in stock, they can take an awful long while to restock.

Actually, considering the OP was eyeballing DE stuff then it unfortunately isn't quite nuff said. According to his complete availability info Neal doesn't carry DE stuff. Perhaps if you called and asked you might get a different answer from him, but I personally just trusted his spreadsheet and went elsewhere. Maelstrom has the best online availability of DE products I've found.

Processing and shipping takes forever with them, a factor that makes me go to my FLGS more and more. It takes up to two weeks for them to process an order, even though all items are listed as in stock. They also gave me a partial refund for a blister that they didn't stock any more, only to have the model in question back in stock a bit later.

I order from them as the exchange rate and the RRP makes the savings to hard to ignore.

They can take some time to get an order done, i have waited at most up to a month but it was a large order and over christmas.

You need to remember they do massive amounts of orders and to wait normally 9-14 days from the UK to AUS and paying 50-60% of the price is easily worth it.

I have to say my experience has been closer to Winter's. I've actually found there shipping speed (always within 3 weeks of the order being placed) to be *amazing* considering I'm having them ship transcontinental. I've never had a lengthy wait for them to process and will agree that if I had experienced that I would definitely be less positive in my attitude for Maelstrom.

Their slow processing is because they are victims of their own success. They are only allowed to order stock from GW once a week. I'm sure most FLGS' would love to be in a situation where they are having issues filling orders because they can only get new stock in once a week, but in Maelstrom's case it's become equal parts boon and burden.

They sell lots, but because they sell lots they run out quickly, and because GW can't ship 'em product fast enough, things take time.

Hmmm...y'know, suddenly the reason I don't have issues with getting quick processing when ordering DE products perhaps comes into clarity.

I've ordered from them almost all of figs for past two year, never had any issues with them. Getting my last order took a bit longer (4 weeks), but that was down to the problem of getting the stuff I ordered from Privateer Press as they had problems in shipping the faction decks.

The only reason my most recent order is taking so long is because it's Dark Heresy: Ascension, and that only came out today!

I've used them a few times - they are OK, certainly not bad and I can see why the discount is enticing because it really does stack up, especially in bulk. My only gripe would be the slow delivery times. And yes, I am aware that this is in part due to the fact they can only replen once a week from GW but I have also found them super slow on items they supposedly have in stock. However, it depends on how you value both your disposable income and your time / patience. If you want to save money and wait longer, then order at an indy. If you want to pay more but get it quick, then order from GW or go to a FLGS.

For guys that have used both, how would you compare them to Wayland Games? Pricewise for someone in the US Wayland seems much better, but I'm unsure how they compare for shipping time, getting orders right, etc.

I ordered 2 large orders from Wayland and Maelstrom both before Christmas last year. Both orders were comparable in terms of content (ie both were readily available and not random stuff that would need to be specially ordered), and both companies websites listed the items as in stock. The value of both orders was approx £200 each. Of the two, Wayland was quicker by about 1 - 2 weeks if I remember.

I've found the shipping for both companies to be about the same, not as fast as I might like but eminently acceptable.

DE are not Direct Order only any more (were not last summer), Neal should be able to get them...

Honestly I don't know why anyone (including NA customers) would ever buy from the warstore.

The prices aren't all that great and the shipping eats up whatever you end up saving. Maelstrom takes a bit to get here (USA) from the UK but the prices and free shipping are simply awesome.
