If it says, remove from table, correct.

this is similar to Lukas' statis bomb, if the SW player wins the roll, there is no save.

Yes. Removing from the table is not Instant Death. It is even worse, because it is not a wound, and no save may be taken.

Thats what I figured, worse. Another question about this Topic, the LOS that it refers to, would that just be the width of the model or how are people doing this?

I am a new Space Wolves player is why I am asking.

I don't know the rules meself, but usually line of sight means true line of sight. If the model can "see" it, then it can be targetted.

Never mind I read it wrong, its not LOS..its a straight line.

If any other SW player reads this could you tell me how you guys are using this Psychic Power?

Not at all. JotWW is one of the weaker powers. I run my RP with Living Lightening and Murderous Hurricane, unless I suspect I may be playing Nids or simmilar, then I take JotWW to be safe

It doesn't refer to LOS...

If you mean the line it refers to, a line is technically a 1 dimensional shape, which we can't represent in our 3d world without giving extra dimensions (without width and height there's no way to percieve the line, even though it has a real length value).

Basically, the line should be the smallest size physically possible.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
hmmm, just looking over the JOTWW rules, think I might have found a major RAW issue with it.

The Line said to be traced from the Rune Priest, and as I mentioned already, it has only length, no width OR height.

So you couldn't by RAW just do the line above an enemy model and claim the model is hit, the line must be traced in such a way that it moves directly towards the enemy.

Further the JotWW rules say "trace a straight line along the board, starting from the Rune Priest and ending 24" away. This line may pass through terrain."

Note that there is no allowance for the line to pass through models.

I suppose the argument could be made that the specification of "ending 24 inches away" is sufficient enough to allow you to trace the full 24 inches regardless, and the note about passing through terrain is simply a clarification that would apply even without that phrase, but it seems plausible to me that you could also read it as you trace your line, going along, killing models, until one passes its Initiative test, surviving the attack and thus blocking the line from continuing through.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

I dont want this thread to become one of those crazy RAW and RAI arguments..

The "Line" it refers to I guess could mean take ur measure tap, turn it upright so its really thin..and anything from the rune priest to out 24" that is hit and has to take the initiative test..

Jaws is a gimmick power that's in the book solely to piss off Tyranid players. If you know you're going to fight a Tyranid player and feel like winning, bring a priest or two with Jaws.

Yeah, there's a bit of a difference between "Oh no, I lost 8 6-point boys and a 30 point nob" and "Welp, there goes a quarter of my 2000 point army in a single shot from a 100 point model."

I'm guessing he means its better against 'nids where you can get a 500p killed in a single JotWW.

What model is 500 points? the most expensive single model is a HT with a buttload of upgrades, but then it isnt I1...

Tervigons / Carnifex are I1, but generally around 200points.

And you can only hit that one carnifex? Not the other 2 in his squad?

Edit: unless you ment my typo @ "a 500p killed", was going to write quarter, but cba so the 'a' remained there when it shouldn't have.

Well, assuming the Nid play isnt an idiot or you dont have 4 RP spamming JotWW then yes, hitting all 3 in a unit should be difficult.

But who takes that many carnifex in one slot?

Fix'd. Carnifex are so useless now no-one takes them. Funny how all these people who bought 6 Carnifex before now have to go out and buy 5 Tervigons and 3 Trygons eh?

You dont have to buy 5 tervigon, that is far from optimal. Genestealers are far too useful not to have some there!

Carnifex as screamer killers do have a use, as they keep initiative when charging into cover, but thats about it....

Well believe it or not, not every 40k player reads through forums or even uses only the best models available.

Due to the popularity of the carnifexes in the last codex, many people still use them as they are the models they have available.

Just because you assume people don't use 3 in a squad, or that they don't line them up so JotWW hits all 3, doesn't mean it wont happen. So what Broken Loose said makes perfect sense ;P (Assuming he did mean 'nids not ghaghz )

I will say that it was a game changer when I sank his tervigon. Took the synapse from the center of his line.

As for RPs, I give 'em JotWW, Living Lightning, and Saga of the Beastslayer - for MC, Walker, and Light Vehicle removal.

I'd say picking Nobz out of boyz squads is very useful and having a 1 in 3 go at killing Gaz in on shot is likewise much better than shooting at him with anything else.

JoTWW is a brilliant power against certain armies and near useless against others (i.e. Eldar of both breads). It along with the Runic weapon were simply put in there thopugh to ensure when the 'Nids were release SWs would still be the best army by far.

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

Or as an Ork player when your KFF Mek gets sniped.

Or a Necron player when they're taking out 150 points worth of destroyers a turn.

Jaws is a freaking stupid power and it pains me to see that they actually thought it was a good idea to print it.

It still has a 1/3 chance of killing Ghazzy anyway.

1/3 chance of taking out 3 T5 2+ wounds in one go. That is just freaking stupid.

Are you implying that battlewagons are indestructible? It's fairly trivial for a multi-melta dread to deep strike into rear or side armor territory.

Never seen it played that the RP has to test. That logic would dictate that flamers don't work!

Jaws is also very useful for getting rid of Plague Marines, one of the more resilient troops in tha game. Ironically, it's also pretty decent at I4 3+ AS removal as a 1/3 chance to kill is like doing an autowound to them. On a T4 model, that's almost as good as 4 S4 or 2 S6+ shots. If you can hit 3+ models, that is the equivalent of 6 S4 hits or 3-4 S6+ hits. It flounders against vehicles, though, and not really worth trying to pop I5+ (unless you can also hit some schlubs). Which is where the Lightning + Beastslayer is fun.
