In terms of looks, they look about the same. BUT, I love spikes a bit more than I like robes, and horns really just seal the deal for me. CSM.

Though I'm trying to work up an excuse to make some robed CSM, a la Night Lords/variant, but that's not my army style and I don't have any unit in my list special enough to warrant robes.

Well i have both codexes(codexi) and play both with the same models I just proxy my Sm with spiky bits and such.

Loyalists FTW. You can make them happy and daring and shiny or dark and gritty - whatever you want - but with Chaos, you're stuck being the guys that couldn't find rides to the Immortal concert (some of whom apparently found big funny hats). Sure, they're all sorts of badass in some of the fluff, but on the table, they're just piles of bent spikes and chunky chains. I'm sure you could make them look great, but most of the paintjobs I see are not only generic (same could be said for a few prominent SM chapters), they're boring. Not to mention the greater flexibility of SM lists. And the better product support.

Save your fingers, save your dignity - avoid the spikes, embrace the Emprah.

I’ve been a fan of the flexibility and look and the look feel of Chaos for a while now. But it terms of which plays better on the table or has better rules, Loyalists are superior.

Really I find the horns dumb, I dunno how they can function when they can hardly turn their heads, and so many spikes they are just going to stab themselves when they fire.

This is good.... isn't it?

They would use the space marine codex. It's not like you turn renegade and instantly trade your storm bolters and assault cannons for combi-bolters and autocannons.

Chaos troop choices are superior to loyalists IMO. That's worth something when 2 out of 3 games are objective based.

You could always have some Fallen alongside whatever you are doing. You just have to be careful because as soon as you have some Fallen in your force, the Deathwing is going to start crashing your parties.

CSM - Lost once big time

Abadannon - To loose once is forgiveable to loose twice is careless to loose thirteen times just shows you are s***.

On a serious note I have just read Soul Hunter and really really enjoyed it. If I could make a list that didn't suck and included no deamon princes or any other form of deamon, no nurgle, and relatively few things other than standard Astartes I might think about it.

However his ultimate goal is the destruction of the Imperium and he has not got near to achieving this yet. The Cadian gate is as strong as ever and every crusade he looses more members of the Black Legion. If you read Soul Hunter you see that some other Legions regard him and his ambitions as a bit of a joke and a foregone conclusion.

He's doing something with collecting the Blackstone Fortresses...at least that's the last thing I heard of with respect to him failing to win the battle but attaining his goals with each crusade.

Although a good few of the loyalist chapters are pretty sweet.

Why don't you make a Night Lords army with the loyalist army book? Since the current chaos dex has no rules for them. So you have Chaos and Loyalists! well technically.

Be sure to have lots of jump troopers and bikers, they like it fast.

I've sold so many armies. :(
