Have to say the Necron idea of harvesting all life in the galaxy is pretty dark, but utterly awesome. Probably find that life isn't completely destroyed, just kept in check. Worlds turned into farms essentially ending all war. So people could probably live in blissful denial before some star god chooses your world for his next snack. Plus, in the current Necron codex some kind of mind manipulation is used (or hinted at being used, may just be madness) on the people, so they believe that all is well and good even as they are about to be processed.

I'm spilt between the eldar and the imperium. I really respect the dream upon which the emperor founded the imperium on, but its undeniable that they've drifted pretty far from that ideal. Still they still have a shot at it eventually so I can't turn my back on the humies.
Stuck up or no, the eldar are really just trying to survive and prevent humanity from making the same mistakes they did. So really I can root for both them and the imperium.

The Imperium is awesome and all, but the thing is pretty much ALL the fluff is about them. I would like to see some xenos races get more time in the spotlight.

As for a specific race I'm rooting for, I'd say Tau. Tau have an interesting history, and they do have a decent amount of fluff, but I'd like more (especially about Farsight).

I really would like the Black Library to write books from the perspective of other races (Fire Warrior doesn't count because that book sucked)

Seriously, what Ork player wouldn't want to read a book about a group of boyz and their antics? Or, an Eldar book about political intrigue and backstabbery ala Vampire: The Masquerade? Or, a Fire Warrior's Uplifting Primer?

For some odd reason I find myself rooting for the Orks in the fluff.

Maybe its there never say die attitude, the fact they're green or because they have no greater plan in life than hitting things really hard!

Otherwise I would rather be a mercenary who serves anybody.

The Dark Angels back story has always been a personal favorite. Though if they complete their quest, what then? Will they jut start being another space marine chapter? Its almost come to that now with the last of hunt the fallen rules and their main target gone from the chaos codex.

If humanity won and sorted out well almost every thing about the way they lived then that would be great but if that's to much to ask for then I think that the necrons wouldn't be so bad ever thing would be nice and peaceful...... until a C'tan decided he was a bit hungry and stopped of for a visit at your planet but everybody has to die some time.

Nids because they are the biggest threat to the galaxy and every other faction knows it.

Chaos Space Marines, because the obsession with destroying the galaxy in the name of the Dark Gods is awesome. However, you have to give credit to the imperial guard, just for trying to hold out against pretty much everything.
