Imperium all the way. I am expecting a sort of loose alliance between the Imperium, the Eldar and the Grot Rebellion to occur sometime this millenium.

I personally think that eventually the hive fleets are going to evolve past the technologies of the galaxy and eventually leave it a baron rock field and move on.
The only things I can really see stopping that would be maybe unifying all the chapters of space marines to one banner (yet hundreds of boarder and hot zones would be over run or converted to other species)
Or maybe some super boss uniting the green skins under one waaaagh banner and then just taking over the galaxy with their waaaagh magic.

I do like this one. But I hold a fondness for my own dark eldar.
"The jungle creed is the strongest feed on any prey it can."
They're predators that take joy in the hunt. They are utterly ruthless in pursuit of their own survival. There is no such thing as an incompetent general in dark elder kabals: you can't prove your skills exceed your rivals' then you die. Their technology is odd but advanced (needles that make the target's bloodstream explode cannot be easy to make) and unlike their craftworld cousins they aren't going extinct but expanding. No other race has found a way of protecting themselves from the galaxy at large. And from the point of view of the galaxy at large they are debatedly the second more benign race after the tau. Maybe third after the craftworld eldar. Sure, there is no way you want to be captured by them. But on a broader scale they are raiders. Fast ambush predators. They might wipe out a hive city but that means nothing on the scale of the Imperium. They are never going to conquer the galaxy and I don't think they want to.
People keep thinking they're just kinky torturers. :(

Even though I play Imperial armies most of the time, I have to go with Orks, since they were my first and favorite army.
They're the most successful race. They've already completed their goal, and are the only race that can never truly be defeated. Eldar, Imperium, Tau, they'll all fall eventually, but the Orks will never die!

The Fate of the galaxy will probably be decided (IMNSHO) by a star-spanning battle of the 'crons fighting the 'nids, obviously because they have the most fluffy destreuctive potential (Also IMNSHO). Of those two, I'd probably choose Necrons.

I'm tempted to say the Imperium, especially the guard. You have to have some serious balls to take on the whole galaxy with naff weapons and WW1 attrtion tactics.
But really it's got to be the orks, green hard as nails space cockneys armed with axes, homebrew and a total disregard for their or anyone elses safety.

Normally, I would have rooted for the Space Wolves as being the only (comparatively) sane people in the Universe. Or, maybe, the Iron Warriors, because I think they happened to be screwed over by both the Imperium and Horus.
Then the BA Dex happened.
I'm very inclined to root for the NEcrons now, for some reason.
Aside from the inherent "cool factor" of an army of silent metal skeletons that can't really be killed, the said Dex sketches a damned new and interesting side to them.
If the Silent King is any indication of the new background for the race, they definitely get my vote, regardless of their reasons.
Now, we know the Necrons aren't ones to back off from a fight just because they might take losses, so the fact they pretty much left Dante alone implies several possibilities.
1.) the ranking Necron Lords are allowed to keep some of their personality, and the Silent King just displayed a shadow of his formal martial honor - that would make the Necrons more like tragic heroes somehow, at least the ones who maintain some measure of self-awareness
2.) they're just the soulless omnicidal bastards we know and love, but they have all the time in the Galaxy, and they can simply afford to arse around and let victims slip through their fingers. Although this is pretty much standard 'cron practice, the fact that they can pull out of fights they stand a fairly even chance of winning is news to me, and it paints them as far more ruthless than I'd have expected
3.) their endgame wasn't really to extinguish all life, that was just their SOP to achieve their goals, and as soon as the BA stopped being a threat, they refocused their efforts on the task at hand instead. The fact that you have an ancient, mind-bogglingly advanced civilization with a history of wiping out entire systems is scary enough. The fact that they're only doing that to achieve their goals takes it to a whole new level and shrouds them in mystery
4.) The Silent King might simply be an anomaly among the Necrons, or maybe a different faction with a different agenda. Think of most Necrons as armies of the Nightbringer - blunt, straightforward. Then the Silent King would be an agent of the Deciever - cunning, but always avoiding direct action whenever possible.
Personally, I'm leaning towards option 1, but to be damn honest, every other one seems to have a kind of depth that the other factions have somehow lost along the way.

I think the space wolves slightly edge out the orks for my vote. Both have a fantastic philosophy; when the galaxy's going to hell, might as well enjoy the ride! Only difference is while both love nothing more than a scrap, the space wolves kicked it up a notch by always going out like a badass, at least *try* to be an ok guy in the process, and after a big fight always throw an equally big party.

It's just gotta be the Nids, the way Chaos and the Imperium keep going at each other just pales into the insignificance of a playground tantrum when you realise the true strength and numbers of the fully massed Nid fleets that have come, and the untold hugeness of that which is still arriving.
Orks are also pretty cool due to the fact that they are the only really honest, straight up race in the universe. Less evil, more just up for a good fist-fight to burn off some steam.
