Well, hold on a second. The Imperium isn't a person, it's just a set of values. If there's a situation where I'm choosing between the Imperium and anybody, it's that I am making a moral choice, not one based on public appearance.
Like when I just stormed a college to rescue a prisoner of the Imperium. Or making a deal with Perron when I couldn't get down the mountain.
