Clickety click

Blood Angels are officially approved for the first round (I was wondering about this, as the codex release was so close to the preliminaries).

No mention of the Adepticon FAQ.

Prize support has been changed for the finals from the nonexistent, "absurdly huge pile of loot," to "cool custom trophies."

When someone smiles at me, all I see is a chimpanzee begging for its life.

Yeah seems like I just want to win regionals and call it a day. LEt's see spend a few hundred on travel and lodging to get a Trophy. Yeah that's cost efficent.

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

Not having the Adepticon FAQ being used is going to cause havoc for Tyranid players using mawlocs or doom.

Last year they only used the FAQ for the final event.

wow.. Ive made it to the finals every year and only went 1 year due to GW's poor running of tournaments and poor prize support compared to 2nd round

They gave trophies every year and now theyve taken away the actual prizes..

Finals went from "probably will never go" to "definitely wont go".. Maybe if they provided air fare :p

You'd think so...but smart money's on, "nope."

Last year they advertised the final prize as, "an absurdly huge pile of loot"... which, apparently, is how they thought of a $300 gift certificate.

Agreed. Here's hoping they release some FAQ's of their own before the 15th.

I am assuming they will use the INAT FAQ at the finals again since it will be held at hte Chicago Battle Bunker (again).

Haha nice catch Janthkin, are you playing at Game Kastle again? I was the ork player you played round 3 last year, you were my best opponent would be nice to play you again. (even after your atrocious luck)

Yup, I'll be there (though I'd prefer to avoid you - luck aside, you outplayed me pretty handily ).

What army are you bringing? or is that a secret? But I honestly think you must've broken some kind of record with those deepstriking rolls. 3 mishaps in the same direction on the same piece of terrain and all 1s or 2s to destroy them. Couldn't really believe that.....

Awesome. Just called my FLGS and put my name down (I was the first on the list, rock!).

The rulez PDF said to register at the GW online store. Do they mean the regular store where you buy stuff or some other place? Want to make sure my winnings go to the right place (yes, I am that confident).

Cheers

If I give you a cookie, will you go away? If I give you the bag, will you go far, far away?

Yeah the problem is you dont have to win the semis to go to the finals.. I got like 900$ worth of guard winning semis last year and another 600$ the year before for space marines.. each of those prizes is atleast double what the GRAND winner gets. Its pitiful. Each person got around 100$ the first year at the finals.. After that GW killed prize support

The only rational I can see is that 900$ worth of guard costs GW like 50$ to make.. where as 300$ costs them .. uh well I guess even less since its still THEIR PRODUCT!

'Ard boyz is not a very competitive environment given its 3 rounds in which people routinely run out of time .. One year we had what, 10 of 50 people go undefeated by the end? Yeah really shows who is best! Having to deal with GW's year after year debacles + travel expense is worth way more than a 300$ gift certificate

But from my perspective, the Prelims are a free three games with possibility of a prize. Semi and finals are just something to worry about down the line.

Most tournaments cost money and for us cheapskates, free is a good price.

Hmm, you must have been at a different Ard Boyz final to me. I came 3rd in 2008 and picked up around $400 of product plus one of their 'really cool custom trophies' which in my case was a full size Ork shoota.

I went to the finals last year, and IIRC the players who had the table flip on them, got almost as much as the winners. I am not bitching, but it seems like the big prize should be at the finals. I would suggest that instead of awarding the 2500 point army to round 2 winners, give them 300, 200, 100, and leave the 2500 point army for the finals.

First year was just awesome for support, all around. The first two years the people in last place even got free fantasy box sets, the large army ones, not the battalions. I think the really well painted Space Wolves hit a bad streak and got one the first year(Ted?). The every round give aways were great, after a draw against Neil's dark eldar in the first round, I just shot for the giveaways the next two rounds and got several boxes of stuff, while having some fun games. I think the third round it was random 25-35$ boxes to the first people to kill enemy HQ's, I blitzed the tau I was playing and got both his HQ's and got a box of dark reapers and one of power armor grey knights. Of course he ended up getting the minor win as I was totally out of position after that, but it was fun and worth it.2nd year there were a few "door prizes" in addition to the main and last place prizes. Last year though was just poor for support after a good buildup (that Red Scorpions Army the Winner got the first year is what I call an adsurdly large pile of loot, not a gift certificate), but the games and players were still fun, I honestly can't say as I've had a bad game out of the 27 total 40k hard boyz I've gotten to play. It would make more sense though to even out the the semi-finals and finals a little bit, though I'll end up going just for the gaming if I can manage to make it to finals again this year. Hey at least this year you can't say it was false advertising though?

I am opposed to the use of hte INAT FAQ at the finals. The rules should be consistent through each round.
