I guess it might be either a limited edition box including a bunch of minis of Space Marines representing the 2nd Company of Ultramarines, Sicarius's Spearhead, or also I think it's the name of some aditional rules for 40k that are rumoured to appear in the next months in White Dwarf.

It's a rules supplement accompanying some new plastic tank kits that rolls out in WD, if you read the thread here, you'll get a bit more info on the releases.

Warhammer 40,000, at it's core is about tanks.
Spearhead is an expansion about even more tanks.
Do I need to say anything else?

It's a classic marketing plot.

Company X wants to sell Product Y. Therefore Company X creates a market for Product Y.

In this case, GW wants to sell more tanks. So they create a game where tanks are the focus. End result, more tanks sold.

Nice idea. It worked with Apoc.

As I've often asked before, does anyone ever actually go to the Games Workshop website for the actual information they're seeking rather than asking for it and maybe or maybe not getting what they want on forums?

What is Spearhead?! GW put up this description about it approximately one month ago at this link

Gather your tanks and ready your lascannons – in June the pages of White Dwarf magazine and the Games Workshop website join forces to bring you a whole new expansion for Warhammer 40,000: Spearhead.

Spearhead is a new way to play Warhammer 40,000 that enables you to unleash exciting tank battles and daring breakthrough missions on the tabletop, bringing the full mechanised fury of the 41st Millennium to bear in your games. June's White Dwarf will contain the main part of the supplement, including new rules, missions and plenty of inspirational hobby advice. Alongside this, the Games Workshop website will feature additional material exclusively for registered members, such as details of how to assemble your Spearhead formations along with even more painting, modelling and collecting tips.

As if a whole new Expansion wasn't exciting enough, it's going to be accompanied by a range of new miniatures including some stunning new plastic kits – more details of these kits, and the Spearhead Expansion, will follow in White Dwarf and here on the Games Workshop website.

A word of advice, however – because it contains a new Expansion, June's White Dwarf promises to be very popular. If you're not already a subscriber now's probably a very good time to correct that, and to register on the Games Workshop website to hear all the news first.

Robin Cruddace revealed that it is a small variant of 40k (with WD rules), where ONLY tanks (and monstrous creatures) are used. So there will be lots of tank squadrons and other tank/monster units not legal in normal games. Sounds like fun!

Seems like it would be a neat idea if they were willing to do it in a smaller scale, and add more superheavies...

(And call it Epic...)

Seems like a wild hare one of the writers got. The 40k rules have always seemed to get extra clunky when dealing with vehicles, and I feel the game really is still designed with a single big vehicle, a handful of transports, or a couple squads of bikes as about he most it's designed for. The damage tables have a lot of 'swing' and vehcicles barely 'feel' right if you imagine them as creeping through a blasted city... Armored charges are a it sad as unless you're ona huge table. This kind of variant seems a bit weird, and I admit I won't be surprised if it's basically just rules to justify a wave of kits for normal 40k.

(Being optimistic, this could be a good thing. Maybe doing the rules as a one-off was a way to justify the kits to the bean counters as it'll "help sell more kits" and the studio knows that they can abandon the rules with everyone relatively happy.)

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.

It was very briefly mentioned and then shot down just as quick. The word is it's coming but no one knows when just yet.

Hopefully It's a way to get the time to right the new Warhammer Rulebook properly!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. "I.. I know my time has come" Tethesis said with a gasp, a torrent of blood flowing from his lips.
"No! Hang on brother!!" Altharius could feel the warmth slip away from his dear sibling's hands

Tethesis's reached out his bloodied arm to Altharius's face.
"I..I have one final request"
Altharius leaned close to listen, tears welling in his once bright eyes.
"make sure th..they put my soulstone in a tank... it'll be... real fethin' cool"
"Yes, you're gonna be the most fethin' cool tank!!" burning hot tears streaked down Altharius's face, as he held his brother's soul in his grasp.
