Cities of Sigmar could be a Classic/Iconic/Ironic Warband with Warrior, Dwarf, Elve, mage ect....

The word going around on various media is that they plan to have a warband per AOS battletome by seasons end. We know Seraphon, Lumineth and Hedonites are coming. Remaining factions without warbands are Bonereapers, Deepkin and Cities of Sigmar and they release 6-8 bands per season. Expect to see a Sigmarite one (maybe a rerelease of Cursebreakers and Thorns of the Briarqueen from season 2) and that could be it.

It’s not 6-8 it’s just exactly 8 per season isn’t it? (And then those two Dreadfane extras whatever season they want to slot them into).

Why would they rerelease them? It’ll just be two more warbands, several warbands are from one battle tome.
I assumed they just make cool models and then fit them in.

I also don’t think they have any intention of stopping after season 4. It’s proved hugely popular, and they created the whole two seasons active at a time thing so assume that will carry on yearly.
Assuming that’s what you mean by getting the last factions done this season.
(I do think they’ll do that either way this season. Then they can just work on what’s cool for the fifth etc, not leaving anyone out).

We've seen some warbands that weren't tied to any books though- Mollog's Mob and the Wild Hunt were certainly examples of that.

Rippa's Snarlfangs were another interesting one in that there weren't any updated books for goblins coming out but they showed up regardless.

I do dig the idea of a Cities warband that's throwback models to older games and model lines.

This is what we should have seen Kill Team doing with their releases.
Heck, maybe we need an Underworlds- style 40k game that they can throw random models in since BSF is done and Kill Team seems an afterthought again.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Right behind you.

Mollog's Mob is in Gloomspite Gitz.
Wild Hunt is in Sylvaneth.

Rippa's Snarlfangs, in all likelihood, are going to be coming from something we haven't seen yet. There is a mention in Gloomspite Gitz of Goblins having had some kind of schism relating to the moon and the sun. Rippa's Snarlfangs are sun-related.

Would be nice if they did a Cities warband followed by an Order of Azyr/witch Hunter band. Of course, I just want more landsknecht type sculpts.

Yeah 6-8 was a mistype, meant 8-10. Nightvault had rerelease of the Shadespire starter bands and Beastgrave had Direchasm.
From what I have read some people expect to see the rerelease of the Nightvault bands due to the fact that is easy for GW to do and as a way of injecting more magic back into the game. When season 2 rotates out a lot (if not a majority) of the spells are going to be gone and that will make things harder for magic dependant bands (ie. cursebreakers...)

I also don’t think they have any intention of stopping after season 4. It’s proved hugely popular, and they created the whole two seasons active at a time thing so assume that will carry on yearly.

You read too much into that, by being done I meant nothing more than each AOS battletome will have at least one U/W warband, nothing more.

Right behind you.

Direchasm is the new season, do you mean Dreadfane?

Personal hope is that rather than just 'Cities of Sigmar', they take the opportunity to give a warband of something interesting back to one of the non-Freeguild cities. I'd die if they gave us a Waywatcher band+hero for Living City.

Yeah, I did. The perils of typing whilst not engaging enough brain...

I dont enough about the Cities of Sigmar in AOS to know for sure but isnt it kind of a hodgepodge of world that was factions mashed into a single book?

Yes...but the Cities themselves aren't.

Each of the Cities, more or less, is more heavily populated or ran by specific factions. Anvilgard, for example, is ran by a 'shadowy cabal' of Ordo Serpentis, Coven, and Scourge Privateers. But there's still humans and duardin in the faction--some of whom are even agents of said cabal!
Living City is primarily Aelf commanders, from the Wanderers. Again--humans and duardin in the faction.
List goes on.

It would be cool, IMO, to do warbands for each of the major non-Sigmarite ran(Living City, Phoenicium, Tempest Keep, Anvilgard) cities that 'bring back' iconic stuff we lost. But that probably won't happen.

That does sound like a lot to play around with then, wonder what design spaces in the game they could occupy. Low wound/heavy armour is not something we have seen too much of nor is very long range and very squishy.

I feel like if we get a Free City Warband (which I believe we will) it's going to be Devoted of Sigmar (Witch Hunter and Warrior Priest with associates probably- I think that comet staff and flintlock pistol could possibly belong here) or straight Free Guild (as in all humans). I don't think at this point GW will give warbands devoted to a specific Free City, though it would be awesome (I'd love to see Anvilgard). It seems a bit too specific when some of the major factions have nothing.

That all said I would I personally (at least for the first Free City warband) would like it to be human only, because he have seen a single new order human sculpt since AoS became a thing. Dwarves and Elves on the other hand we have had plenty of. Tree Elves, Snake Elves, Satyr Elves, Sea Elves, Light Elves......more Dark Elves soonish.....

Removed, same as Grot Wolf Riders, that had nothing to do with which unit will be included in this game. That's up to the designer and concept artist to sculpt and draw whatever they feel like

I assumed/counted the original two warbands getting separate releases wasn’t so much a ‘part of’ Nightvault, just released during that window as it happens kind of thing, thus there being seasons of 8/8/10 (as it was nothing new).

What was 3 like in terms of magic? I haven’t got anything from there.

I would assume (or hope) that knowing they’re cycling 2 out would mean 4 has lots of new magic cards (or rereleases several of the ones from 2 for ease I suppose - didn’t they say that any card with the same name is still valid in its old style, if it gets a newer version later?)
All that being irrelevant for me in that if someone had S2 cards I’d just play them with those no worry (I don’t know how bad the imbalance would be, but surely can’t be too crazy), as I don’t do any tournament play at all or anything.

Beastgrave was pretty light on magical stuff, I do not own two of the factions but of all the ones I do have (including the core) there are less than a dozen magical universals.

But if you are not going to a tournament that plays with the rotation it does not matter in the slightest! I imagine that there will be some new spells and stuff in Direchasm core as it does contain at least one spell user.

There was the sigmarite priest for Silver Tower, but I think that's the only one.

Yeah, that’s the one I was referring to. Cool sculpt too, just a shame he has no companions that match his aesthetic.

Yeah I’ll just use what I’ve got. Though depending how the warbands look I may get the Direchasm starter anyway.
I’ve only got the Shadespire starter, and was give the Nightvault rulebook, so perhaps time for a new set..
I’m assuming £50 plus whatever discount from third party (on that, does anyone know what Dark Spheres free shipping threshold is, if they have one?)

They don’t. But then they discount deeper than anyone else I’ve found, plus there are several items with “subsidised shipping” in their catalogue; adding any applies an additional discount to the shipping price regardless of the ratio of subsidised to non so it pretty much always works out cheaper than the 20% places.
Of course if you’re in London they have the store pick up option which is “free” in as much as you don’t pay them to transport your goods home. Personally my time and transport costs are pretty much always more than shipping would be but YMMV. Literally.

Yeah, but you pay extra in store anyway, so probably offsets the shipping there.
Ok, I didn’t think I’d seen free shipping there before, but do usually use them (for the 25% or so which is slightly better).

I’m doing lots of deal buying on eBay at the moment to try and grab some extra warbands, so will see when the time comes whether I can splash on a new starter..

I think an Order of Ayzr warband would likely be separate of a Cities one, between their models being squat'ed and the very human-focus of their faith.

My guess is that a Cities warband might be some sort of mercenary or treasure hunting sort, rather than tied to a specific City. Human wizard, Dwarf Ironbreaker, Wood Elf Waywatcher, etc. As has been mentioned, your typical 'generic fantasy' party.

It’s not like one will come out call Cities anyway. They’ll have some really specific name and place they are from.
So I think, and hope, that over time we are gonna end up with at least a few human, cities, sigmar type warbands.
With the amount of variant chaos ones around, it’s about time.. (plus chaos got all the warcry love)

which is odd, because the slaaneshi guys arent posed particularly interesting- but the designs are so intricate that they capture the eye anyway.
