Both! I have been meaning to produce an AutoCannon version for a while but kept putting it off, so here's my opportunity. I will of course be showing how to build the original too.

As for 'Anus', yeah I will take the hit on that (even my wife took the p**s)...but just for the record it says Arius. I also spelt Phoenix wrong on the the other Predator A bit of a touch-up required on these two methinks.



I won't be doing a tutorial for the Whirlwind (unless people would like to donate bits for me) as it uses a Sentinal, Dreadnought and Whirlwind kit, which at GW's bloated prices these days makes it too expensive - even if I do know where to buy my stuff at a 20% discount.

I have made a good start on the project, I reckon I should have it completed by tomorrow and then spend some time writing it up.

Hi all, just a quick update. I am nearing completion of the model (unfortunately the wife is making me visit relations so I am going to have to put off the finishing touches for a couple of days). Here are a couple of sneak previews though...hope you like 'em.

Ok girls and boys I have finished the modelling side of things and am currently wading through the mass of photo's I took and prepping them for the article. Here are some photo's of the finished model to whet your appetites.



As you can see this is the standard Predator variant (previously known as the Destructor before the latest Codex) with Heavy Bolter sponsons. I have wanted to build this variant for some time. Don't worry though...the tutorial article will detail how to build both the Destructor and Annihilator versions!









Hope you like what you see...course it will take me forever to paint it...I have a love - hate relationship with painting and am far happier modelling and converting...I'll see what I can do though.

Looks great, can't wait for the write up!

It's part kit-bash, part scratch-build...nothing too taxing and all will be revealed soon.

You will need an IG Sentinal and a Marine Predator or at least the weapon sprue. If you buy the Predator kit you will be able to make yourself a Rhino too. Other bits you will need are plasti-card, plastic rod and an appropiately converted SM. Thinking about this I will have to have a play with some Marine bits to build a plastic pilot...I used a spare OOP Land Speeder pilot I had for my conversion.

I do like the idea ALOT and you have put it together very nicely, but there is just something missing for me, maybe the view screen/front armour could do with a change? Good job though!

I know exactly where you are coming from. I built the original models about 4 years ago (roughly) and the cockpit was a bit of a rush job. I have since toyed with the idea of making the cockpit fully enclosed and might still go in that direction. That said, this tutorial is 1.) to show how I built the original model and 2.) to allow the new model to fit with those already done.

Ok, as promised I have done a bit of work tonight on a plastic pilot. It's not perfect but shows how it can be achieved. For those wishing to make a better version you will need to break out the green-stuff.
