Much as the title suggests I'm curious about the amenities that can be found on non-US military bases around the world.
I work for on a US military bases in the states and its quiet common to have a base with an 18 hole golf course, a water park, a movie theater etc...
Is this something that other countries do or is it just us and our "bloated" military budget?

Hmmm, my old regiment had a small NAAFI bar (Naval, Army, Air Forces Institute in case you were wondering), and a Spa shop (basically a small 7 Eleven for you colonials out there) but then again, my old regiment was only ~500 at full strength.
Other bases I have been on had small cinemas, bowling alleys and the like.

I'm sure it really depends on the base's location and population. The closer to home it is and the higher the population, the more amenities you'd see.

Kan is right. I've been to a few bases in my life, where the size of the base population and the distance to another city dictate much of it.
Picatinny Aresenal has nothing much at all, other then a small PX and a small theater.
Tobyhana Army Depot has a small water park and a medium sized theater and a medium PX.
It also depends on the mission of the base as well.
Picatinny is an R&D center, with few permanent residents.
Tobyhanna is repair for communication, radar etc., with a decent sized population, hence the bigger and better amenities.
My uncle, who is stationed in Saudi Arabia, says though the base is of a decent size, there is only a large gym and a small movie theater.
