That's a shame, he was a funny actor who really got a raw deal in life.

Im aware its going to make me sound like a bad man, but.. Seriously, who gives a gak? Coalition soldiers die in Afghanistan and you dont see me spamming OT with obituaries. Last i heard he was wanting to get into politics, so i think its probably a good thing. The last thing California needs is another idiotic celebrity senator who knows nothing about politics. Whats with all this fake sympathy? How can you actually care when someone you never met dies? When people say 'oh i cried when i heard michael jackson died!' i almost laugh in their face. While it is sad when anyone dies relatively young, I care nothing at all about it. The world has bigger things to worry about than a dwarvish actor.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

Yeah.

Completely right.

Totally logical.

But we're human. I shed more tears over my dog (sniff, I loved that dog) than I did over hundreds of thousands of people who died in the 2004 tsunami. Coleman, never met the guy, but for a couple of years he came into my living room and made me laugh. So I feel a false connection.

AMEN to that, if it wasnt for the disrespect, I would fill the OT with the names of the dead coalition troops.

@mattyrm-Maybe the people are not mourning for the celeb but for a peice of their childhood dying.

IMO, I think it is a mechanism for dealing with the process of aging and mortality. I see no problem with such as long as it isn't taken to levels of hysteria.

I am shocked absolutely shocked people can be so flippant about Gary Coleman's death. Midgetry is a very important and often under-appreciated profession. Think how much poorer your life would be without midgets; every time you cross paths with a midget it brightens your day and fills you with laughter. It's like a surprise Christmas.

The world is now short one little person.

Perhaps it is a matter of perception i know exactly when my childhood died, but is not a topic for discussion on a public forum,
on the other hand the subject of celebrity is a complete and utter load of bs,no one deserves the automatic right to be famous but each and every man/woman who gave and risked there lives deserve to be remembered

1)Then think not of it as your childhood dying but rather something from your youth that is now a reminder of your own mortality.

2)No one has said anything about a right to be automatically famous, but rather are paying respects to one whom had a difficult life and managed a modicum of success in the public eye despite facing a personal severe medical problem.

3) Start a thread in the off-topic forum listing such soldiers. There is nothing stopping you. You create it and I'll visit it, but the long and short of it is this thread is about Gary Coleman.

1)Sorry did I say childhood I meant life (which explains why I am miserable bastard)

2)No,. no one mentioned a right to be automatically famous but just because he was in the publuc eye and he was a short ass doesnt mean he was important

3) I would but it would be slatted and slagged ny antiwar posts from people who dont realise the troops arent there by choice

and finally for everyone out there Only one thing is Guaranteed in your life. YOU WILL DIE

Wow, you are morbid sir. Kudos my man. So dark, so haunting. A reminder as to why the 2002-2007 was a terrible time to be a kid and a music lover. (Screw you Fallout Boy)

Anyways, the reason people are sad that the man died is because he came into their living rooms and made them laugh as kids. He was there for them, cheering them up when maybe there was nobody else there. He was not an amazing actor, but he did his job and people loved him for it. He helped some through terrible times in their lives just by being on the television screen. If that helps some people get on with their lives and what is troubling them, then he has done more than most people have.

But either way, you keep on being emo there champ.

Yeah.... I don't get all of this misplaced anger towards people showing respect for Gary Coleman.

I mean it's similar to someone complaining about losing a game of 40k, then some dude with a chip comes barrelling in and saying something like..."Ohh yeah you just lost a game of 40k.....what about all the soldiers that have given there lives in "real" war.

I.E. Totally unnecesary comments.
