looking at gw's battlewagon, i saw that it was 74$. this struck me odd as i remembered it being 69 dollars. i then looked and saw that the ork boys are now 29 dollars. The ork trukk is now 39 dollars!but if you look on the bright side at least; the ork buggies are 1$ cheaper. (whoopie )
but seriously, 74 freaking dollars for the battlewagon? WTH

Yes, GW have increased the prices worldwide. They are running out of truffles and champagne in the ivory tower and so decided to squeeze yet more from all us geeks.
It's highly necessary as the previous price increases have led to a decrease in sales, so they increased the prices again...
Here's a helpful pictoral guide to the business model currently being employed:
eff GW, that's what online retailers are for lol. I don't understand their strategy, knowing full well that almost any other store sells them for 15% less.
That being said, obviously the online retailers will also go up, so the issue remains, it just seems a bit stupid. Especially considering our dollar is very high right now and it was already over-priced relatively anyways.
Poor Canadians, paying roughly 70 USD for an item that we get for 62 USD...

The problem is, that it all adds up. that little 5 dollars we have to pay more of, turns bigger and bigger each time, with each set we buy, making us pay quite alot more than the US has to. :/
also, i did sense the sarcasm (and small bit of trollishness) melissia put

GW raised prices all over the world as of today. Different items and differing amounts of items changed in price from country to country. Consult your country's GW website or your local shop for details.
Unlike previous recent years GW did not put up a formal announcement about this increase on their website ahead of time. GW US shop managers and operators were not given official notice till two days before the increase. Thanks to independent sellers who were notified due to necessity a month ago, this news has been around the Internet for weeks now.
Three threads about this year's GW price increases have already been closed due to uncivil behavior here on Dakkadakka during the past few weeks.

My strategy as a Canuck: occasionally buy from the independent FLGS but do a lot of the buying online/on craigslist. There are always a ton of models going cheap online, the only real downside being shipping & stripping paint.
Riddle me this: what has four sides, moves twelve inches, and moved fourteen?

With current exchange and the discount from someplace like UK store Wayland. lootas are $19 CDN and the Battlewagon is 47.50 and the trukk is $25 instead of 40 and the shok attack gun is $22.25 instead of 40, that is almost half price!
The differences are far too large for anyone in North America who cares at all for how they spend their money to keep buying locally when such savings can be had with a little patience.

1500pt O'Vesa Star W: 27 D: 2 L: 1
The challenge: in a 1500pt game I will play 900pt + D6x100 pts, if I roll a 6 I reroll and -100 to that second number (down to 1000pt minimum)
W:6 D:0 L:1
I guess if there's one thing both countries can be thankful for, it's this...
At least we're not Australia. A $20 price increase here or south of the border = a $50 price increase down-under, for no reason other than GW's redshirts believe in maintaining the British Empire

Whenever the Canadian Dollar goes above the American I just exchange my money for American dollars and go down to the state and buy some GW stuff from there. I also take a few friends and do a few other things there to. I live pretty close to the border.

No. Because I'd crap myself and giggle like an excited schoolgirl the second I stepped inside of it.
They'd definately need a loan shop in the mall, as I forsee many, many wargamers running out of cash in the first hour of their visit too.
It's called Historicon.) Even without the gaming, I'd go there just for the shopping.
....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

The difference is, that's a temporary thing. We're talking about a fixed 0800-2200,7d/wk, 365d/yr shopping mall devoted purely to the awesomeness of the hobby
I haven't bought any WH40k items locally in the last 3-4 years. Even when shipping across the Atlantic (for free!) Maelstrom games is my buying place. Sad for the local retailers, but it's my hard earned money...
