So Torchwood is set for a return to our screens, threatening to be more international. Well frankly, it's about bloody time. Children Of Earth was absolutely superb in my opinion, and certainly blew the first two somewhat lacklustre (but not swearing or rumpy pumpy how's your father leg over adult sexy time) series out of the water completely.
Could we be looking at a new X-Files feel, but hopefully without the needlessly convoluted plots and storylines? I certainly hope so.
Fingers crossed for 10 episodes of globe trotting Alien busting shenanigans.
BTW, apart from Children Of Earth, best episode has to be with the Cannibal Village. Absolutely brilliant that one!

I watched most of the first series and was not particularly impressed. Same with the new Dr Who's.
Have they changed the writer for Torchwood now do you know? That might make it slightly better. I'll give the new series a chance and see how it tickles me.

Not as far as I'm aware, still RTD in charge.
However, it's worth persevering. Series 2 was a marked improvment on the first. Less pointless swearing and shagging, more plot (though still a bit too much swearing and shagging for my tastes) and Children Of Earth really is a must see for SciFi fans.
As for Dr Who, watch the current series. Much closer to the old feel. Doctor is slightly more manic and playful, and a lot less Emo than Tennants (though this is most likely down to RTD's departure).

Yeah, I watched the first of the new Dr Who's and part of the second. If they are on when I am watching TV I will put them on, but I'm not going out of my way to watch them
My wife has pretty much all of the old Dr Who's on DVD and we will watch those instead.
That is very good news. I just hope they go back to the old style, as the children of earth episodes were a bit of a let down (still good though). It just didn't seem right that someone who managed to fight of some god from the end of time that eats life is scared of alien drug dealers (no idea what it actully was). I very much looking forward to this.
Having never even HEARD of Torchwood until I saw the commercials for Children of Earth (and watched it), I find myself interested.
This going to be playing internationally? With Starz footing part of the bill, I'm hoping we'll find it on US Cable systems.

Much as I'd like to enjoy the return of Torchwood I just cant bring myself to do so. Series one was patchy, but that's ok because a first series is allowed to be patchy so long as it has promise. Series two threw all that away, it was terrible. Children of Earth did a lot to turn that around. It was genuinely good.
The problem is Capt. Jack, he's just too much of a cartoon of a character and he's the only thing left to hang the show on. He's great for Dr. Who, I love his Dr. Who episodes but he's so out of place in Torchwood.
