There are imbalances within the game, but let's call them what they are - imbalances. They're genuine problems with the game.

Agreed. Some things are game problems (3x holofalcons, TMC-zilla, possibly Lash) but some are just fiendishly effective and defeatable tactics (las/plas heavy SAFH, Eldar skimmerlist, Mech Tau, etc).

Taking this particular example: in a Guard force, fitting three pie plates into 1k means you have to make significant sacrifices in terms of the warm bodies you put on the ground and the leadership and counterassault you field. It's not the kind of something-for-nothing I would call cheese.
