Hm. WE Legs+Hood+Cape/Cadian Torso+Arms looks pretty sharp - although does the combo of the Cadian Torso and Arms affect how the cap sits or is it the picture?

As far as the Catachan arms go? Yech! I'm pretty completely unimpressed by that. I thought the fact that the Catachan arms were bare might make them look more Tanith-y, but instead, it just looks like a hokey mismatched conversion.

Thanks again, ESDK!

Yeah, the Catachan arms remind me of the old He-Man action figures of my youth. Oh, Battle Damage He-Man ... who hurt you?

Thanks for obliging, ESDK. The cadian arms/torso do work well with the legs/head/cape of the WE. This may be something I look at as well when I eventually get around to putting together an IG army.

Always happy to help. The Cadian arms don´t interfere with the hood, it just sits closer to the torso in the last picture so the neck guard is in the way.

As I stride knee deep through the dead, all is clear. I know what must be done...

I really dont like the Catachan combo...... like Master Darksol said way too He-Manish. I like either combo of Elf bodies/Cadian Legs or Elf bodies/Cadian arms. I'm thinkin about making a squad just to paint and look cool on the shelf

Why not just use a full WE body with a lasgun for any female guard. They would be smaller than the normal guardsmen so they would proportioned well enough

That's probably what I'd do for the female guardsmen, yeah. Or if the WE arms don't work, maybe get a couple Eldar arms and fit them to hold a Lasgun.

Once again thanks to EDSK for posting the various mock ups...and thanks Death by Monkeys for having this idea.

I have thought about using Bretonnian and Empire foot troops with Cadian arms, but I never thought about using woodelves...Now I know what I will do with my box of Glade guard that have been collecting dust for the last year or so...

Thanks,
Chappy P!

Another option would be armless lasguns (from the catachans or the few you get with the Cadians) and elf arms.

I have tons of las guns if anyone wants them.

I just found this thread. And I spent the money to make a full platoon of Tanith with the pewter figures (use a catachan body to do Bragg). I like these conversions. Might do the 2nd platoon this way.

Let me know if you need them. I use real world guns from model kits for my IG so I always have spares.

PS don't forget the beret heads westwind makes, they've been shown off in a few threads here.

hmm...I like how the cadian las gun arms shield the interface between torso and legs. That Catachan one looks like a southern bell in a hoop skirt. No offense intended, of course.

I tried a few test models myself and found that the version I liked the most was Cadian Arms and Torso on Woodelf legs/head and cloak.

I tried woodelf/leg/chest/head and cloak with Cadian arms, with the thought of mixing this guy with the one guy I made with the above combination of parts, but the didn't look right together. This combination made him smaller than the guy above.

So I have three guys together so far, I just need to hammer out a list. I am not using them as a tanith army, rather I'll be using them for my own IG army which happens to use Light Infantry and Cameleoline.

Oh and instead of dremelling the quivers, I just converted mine to scabbards.

I'll have to post pics later in the week as I have to fly for a business trip.

Later,
Chappy P!

Yep - I'm very hip on the Westwind beret heads. They're very cool, and I think the scale of the heads (i.e. not professional wrestler heads like the SM Scout or screaming Cadian heads) will work well with the WE bodies. I'm looking at some other heads as well - I'd like to get some bearded heads from the old Mordheim/Empire hairy head sprue and some bald heads that I can GS a short mohawk or other haircuts on.

Can't wait to see what you put together, Pallantide. I was thinking shotgun scabbards for some of the quivers (even though they wouldn't be WYSIWYG). They'll be a bit big to represent the Ghost's Straight Silver, unfortunately.

Okay, this isn't quite on topic...but...how do eldar guardian arms fit on the glade guard bodies? Anyone know?

I´m not sure if this says Tanith, but it is a damn fine looking conversion... I might also have to steal, rob, or plunder this idea in some way...

No, I agree - it doesn't necessarily scream Tanith...but frankly, there's not really anything in GW's line that does. Even the Tanith models don't really scream Tanith to me the way I think they should.

The Catachan arms look too big to me (but they always looked like they were on a different scale than all other GW plastic humans).

I really think you should find something to do with the quivers. I don't know, maybe you could adjust them into backpacks or bedrolls with a little green stuff?

In case no one has suggested it yet, removing the quivers all-together would take way too much work. A much easier way is just to clip the arrow ends off the top and then place a handle, turning it into a knife holster.

Man, that's the joy of Anime! To revel in the complete and utter wastefullness of making an unstoppable nuclear-powered combat andriod in the shape of a cute little girl, who has the ability to fall in love and wears an enormous bow in her hair.

Actually, it's already a chore to dremel away the collar and backpack nub on the Cadian torso, then dremel away the nub on the cloak. I don't know how much you've looked at those cloaks, but dremeling/carving away the quivers in such a ways as to keep the cloak looking nice would be difficult. Not impossible, but certainly not something I want to do 60 times for a full army.

I've got 8 men converted up so far, using the WE legs, Cadian torso, Cadian arms, WE head, and WE cloak. I'm clipping the arrows and dremeling the top of the quiver flat and adding a knife handle out the top to make it just a large knife sheath. I add on IG pouches, sheathes, and canteens. Once I get more done, I'll GS gaps and deal with some cloak issues. I keep wanting to get photos posted for my P&M blog on these guys, but with a new baby on the way, I'm moving slower with these guys than I'd like.
