I suspect it's more likely they have sold all the available ones already-- in my local GW store the otehr day and the manager was ranting as he'd just tried to increase his order and had been told that he couldn't and he might not in fact get the amount he had asked for.

Class 2 lasers are low power lasers or laser system in the visible range (400 - 700 nm wavelength) that may be viewed directly under carefully controlled exposure conditions. Because of the normal human aversion responses, these lasers do not normally present a hazard, but may present some potential for hazard if viewed directly for long periods of time. A continuous wave (cw) HeNe laser above Class 1, but not exceeding 1 mW radiant power is an example of a Class 2 laser.
Class 2M lasers are low power lasers or laser system in the visible range (400 - 700 nm wavelength) that may be viewed directly under carefully controlled exposure conditions. Because of the normal human aversion responses, these lasers do not normally present a hazard, but may present some potential for hazard if viewed with certain optical aids.

From this we can deduce that the only little snot nosed kids that are getting ANY kind of retinal damage (read: damage, not destruction) are the ones who have overcome the instinct of self preservation that all creatures on this Earth possess and have somehow trained their eye to stay open and focused on the pin point of light for LONG PERIODS OF TIME, whilst enduring blinding red spots of PAIN.
Gentlemen, there was a great man by the name of Charles Darwin that had a theory on these kinds of people. If, by some measure of a miracle, this laser pointer DOES blind some people think of it as a bit of chlorine in the gene pool.
Buy before they do a recall, laser pointers are cool, fun and praticle for our hobby dispite the misuse of them

It's all fun and (war)games untill someone loses an eye.
Then it's fun and (war)games without depth perception.
The first kid that shines that thing in my face (class 2 or not) gets to eat it (the pointer, not my face).

If it's really an LED (which I'm inclined to believe due to the fact that it has a crosshair shadow), you'd need to poke someone in the eye with it for it to do any real harm.

I use a laser level for LOS in Star Wars, because it's all 2D. Wouldn't work so well for 40K, because LOS doesn't come from a line traced along the ground the way it does in Star Wars.
