As each codex gets released, the game designers have made the HQ section bigger and bigger and where it dwarfs the rest of the selections combined. I saw this with Demons, Eldar, and now Space Marines. Is GW trying to encourage herohammer? Its funny for a game that is supposed to emphasize troops that you have most of the codexi with 1-3 troop choices but almost double or more in HQs.

Codex Orks has 7 HQ choices: ghaz, mad doc, old grot, wazdakka, Big Meks, Warbosses, and weirdboyz. In addition there are 3 special characters: snikrot, zagstruck, badrukk. On the other hand there are 2 troop choices: ork boyz and gretchin. In addition, Big Meks alllow a deff dread as a choice; wazdakka allows bikes as troops, and warbosses allow nob/meganobz for a total of 6 potential troop choices. Having only ever played 1st edition and 5th edition I like the use of heroes and i don't think they are that powerful.

PROSECUTOR: By now, there have been 34 casualties.

Dark Angels, surely?

I'm not counting white dwarf chapter approved lists that somehow got their own book.

I too can prove pretty much any assertion I please if I don't count all the evidence that contradicts it.

In fairness its the same format and size of the blood angel book which WAS white dwarf chapter approved.

Funny thing though, if codex creep exists than I'm wrong. But if as you are all saying there are many instances of it not happening then I am right. So which is it? Do we count the dark angels and I'm wrong? Or do we count the dark angels and I'm right? PARADOX. Regardless, near universal complaints of broken overpoweredness every time a book is released.

New Chaos.

Dakkaites complained for MONTHS about chaos codex creep and how while the armory creep is gone OMGLASHDEMONPRINCESEVRYONEISAPLAGUEMARINE kept going strong. In fact I'm pretty sure you yourself while lambasting the codex said something along the lines of "It's doesn't suck because its bad, in fact its too good (generic lash plaguemarinemagicbolter complaint). It just sucks because its flavorless and generic."

Fzorgle Prince is not a good example of Codex Creep. Fzorgle Prince is a good example of Codex Mistake.

Yes they were, there were a number of characters in various armies that could wipe out whole armies. And the one anti character weapon that gave you a real chance to kill these characters was the void grenade. Suffice it to say that it was way out of balance and many people were turned off by it, myself included. I sold my entire 2nd ED DA army because the hero hammer thing annoyed me so much.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFfffffffffffffffffffff

I would rather insult you until you quit the conversation like last time. It was something about battle-tech being a clix game I think. Good memories. Either way you're an internet tough guy goon that nugs up on acting the superior with your ridiculous nerd rage spam. Of which one in five posts actually contributes anything meaningful. It's amusing to me that you've amassed so many thousands of posts with really so little actual content.

Right. So, I have several HQ choices, but can only field 2.

Add in that, if I wish to win most games, I need lots of Troops.

Now, in the upcoming Space Marine book, you want toys for your Marines? You'll be buying squads of ten. This means no more 5 Man Las/Plas in a Razorback with a Powerfist just in case. And since I need them to hold my objectives for me, I personally would want three squads minimum, possibly 4 to play it safe. This can give me 8 scoring units and an interesting mix of weapons to play with.

But hey, lets all keep on screeching, staring at one corner of Mona Lisa and declare poor art because we cannot see the face.

Fed up of Scalpers? But still want your Exclusives? Why not join us?

Yeah, codex creep is the biggest myth out there. It takes about 10 seconds of consideration to realize it doesn't exist, at least not as the name implies. Second edition started with Space Wolves and Eldar, and books went less powerful from there. The beginning of third edition had the dreadful DE codex, but that was followed up by the BA codex, which was one of the best in the game for the better part of two editions. Tyranids were the second codex released under fourth, and they were followed up by BT.

Now, if you're going to claim that codex power levels look like an EKG printout when you start tracking it, you might have an argument. But there's never been a steady, continual power increase.
