(THIS SPACE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK)

I think they were trying to avoid the kind of thing that would allow your captain to be on a bike deep striking onto a teleport homer with a squad of 10 men with combi flamers that are all twin linked.

The special rules are all attached to crappy overcosted IC's that can't point for point pull their own weight. The counts as thing is annoying, but it does help prevent min maxing.

Do you remember that time that thing happened?
This is a bad thread and you should all feel bad

Played another against an opponent who knew the game a little better.

The Thunderfire cannon is outstanding. Even against upper echelon armor saves. He played Necrons and lined up his warriors basically one "rank" deep per unit, and four or so units deep. So it was harder to deviate off a unit than to hit more than one. In fact, he made it so attractive to hit his troops, I had to do that instead of hitting his destroyers with the subterranean shells.

Drop Pod'ing Sternguard is nasty. Not very nice at all.

They may have overextended the nerf to Librarians and Chaplains. While the did pretty much make the Captain/Master the undisputed CC monster of the marine dex, they may have hamstrung chappies and libbies a little too much.

The new Libbie powers may more than make up for that however. Machine Curse'ing a monolith all day long sounds fun.

The Drop Pod model is nice to look at, but if you're not playing a friendly game where both players can agree to make allowances for the less than friendly mechanics of the model, it would be too much of a PITA.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

Exactly.

It amuses me how people cry for GW to balance their armies, but when GW finally does so, those people no longer want the very restrictions that provide that balance...

Best thing is, point for point means even less now than it ever did!

Not since the advent Objectives. And hell, even in Kill points, surely overcosting is a good thing, as it means fewer Kill Points and thus less to aimlessly complain about?
