If you've noticed a lot of boxes have gotten smaller, or have been reorientated to be taller but thinner, thereby taking up less space on a shelf, allowing for more products. The cardboard is also thinner, and uses less of it, again cutting down production costs.

Not raising prices and lowering prices are two very different things. The latest price increase didn't hit plastic things, but they sure as hell didn't go down.

The prices went down big-time in my FLGS. Tanks are down by $15, infantry by at least $5.

That would be the benefit of GW Canada being merged with GW US to create GW North America (or whatever they're calling it) as far as retail goes. The Canadian price was always much higher than the US, one even taking conversion rates into account, now by going off the US price it did effectively lower the price for Canadian customers. And comparing something that was metal to something now plastic isn't a fair comparison, plastic kits will by and large be cheaper. The comparison Aduro makes between Terminators and Dreadnoughts is much more fair.

I do feel that in some cases we get more stuff for the money we pay. I used to pay €30 for sixteen basic Ork boyz, now I pay €17,5 for eleven.

WRT packaaging, all I know is that the Baneblade fits in a "classic" 9" x 11.5" x 3+" white box. IOW, the Baneblade box is literally twice as large as it needs to be.

The Warhammer boxes got 'cheaper' because there's less in them. They went from having (usually) 20 models to having 10 models... but not at half the price, at 2/3rds the price. So it got cheaper, but you're getting half what was in there before.

That just isn't true. 10 metal daemons was $50 bucks. Now it is $25. It is cheaper and I don't see how you can argue anything different. Same with new DE cold ones and warriors. P.s I am quite a good GW hater (not as good as you, though) but new plastic kits seem to be cheaper. Can you give an example where new ones are more expensive or the same price - genuine question, coz I am 2nd bottle of wine.

Well, I think most people were discussing plastic kits decreasing in price, not models becoming cheaper when they go from metal to plastic. GW has been noticably better about that lately, although for a while they were pretty lousy about it. Current plastic terminators cost more than metal termies did a few years ago, but the metal went way up as well. My point: building deathwing all out of plastic now is more expensive than an all metal army was 4 years ago. Seem right to you? The plastic commander was $15 for a single model: until the latest round of increases $15 was more than any single character on the shelf.

SM scouts are the same cost in plastic and metal ($4 a piece), with the snipers getting a bump to $5 a piece. The plastic kit has more options and a heavy, but the BP/CCW scouts look silly while the metals are great.

Tau stealth suits are still more expensive in plastic than in metal.

As HBMC pointed out, many of the WFB boxes went from 16 for $35 to 10 for $22, which is bit of an increase.

To be fair, with the rapid increase in metals in the last 2-3 years, plastics are an increasingly good deal, but there are many instances where GW releases a plastic kit that actually costs the same or more than an old metal or plastic kit. In their defense, the new kits are usually far superior (Chaos possessed and/or terminator, for example).

They pretty much make all the sponsons for the Razorback now.

Sponson for the Landraider redeemer for the Twin Assault works well.

The only thing they'd really need to make is Plastic Versions of the H. Flamer and Laz/Plaz versions.

That' be a pretty kick ass kit.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

While other parts of the world got price decreases (mainly canada due to the merging/assimilation of the US and Canuckian websites into GW NorAm) I'd agree with HBMC that WE don't get that option - ever.

Has nobody noticed the little flag next to HBMCs avatar (or mine)? Most of us don't by via the net from the US, so can't take advantage of the "cheaper prices". GW gaming is still a "kiddies" game (general perspective) here, paid for by the parents, and they don't trust the netbanking process.

We're aussies. The other side of the world. Prices always go up for us. New box, new artwork, less in it, more money is the usual GW SouthPac practice).

That said, I'd like to see a combined box for the pred, akin to the Tau skyray (also heard rumours they're scrapping the hammerhead box completely - as they sell more skyrays and it has all you need in it for the hh).

They might scrap the Devilfish too as those parts are in the Hammerhead box.

That would mean you have to pay £25 for a Devilfish.

Wouldn't surprise me.

But that'd be like scrapping the Rhino box and releasing a combined R-Back/Predator/Rhino kit. They could then do the same with the Whirly and Vindi (which isn't a terrible idea).

I doubt we'll see basic transports vanish as single items. I think the Rhino and Devilfish are safe. A combined Hammerhead/Skyray box, yeah, I can see that.

The other issue with Marine tanks is the Chaos side of things. They either combine them and start uncluding Chaos upgrade sprues as well (and therefore jack up the cost even more), or we get a strange system where we have Chaos boxes for everything and then a few combined boxes for Loyalists. I really don't see that happening.

I dunno. DFish isn't the same as Hammerhead, and the HS sprue is pretty big. I could instead see Dfish coming with a mandatory minimum sprue of Tau FireWarriors.

For races with very basic Transport (Rhino, DFish), I could see that happening to some extent.

GW could easily simplify the Rhino kit to Rhino/Razorback, as it performs pretty much the same function/role of basic Transport.

So that would indeed imply a combined Hammerhead / Skyray kit, and make good sense.

And then, ultimately, a new Falcon / Fire Prism kit would appear for the next Eldar Codex.

Eldar really need something like that, i was in mind games today and saw the really old falcon pack and thought it looks alittle sad next to all the new boxes

That is unless they do allow for the baal predator variant current. But I think that's a bit too much wishful thinking from me.

I'm actually surpirsed there isn't a combo SM Landraider box and a combo SM rhino/pred/razback and a combo SM whirlwind/Vindi.. 3 boxes rather than 7.. It would certainly cut costs across the board for packaging..

The could of course have 3 chaos boxes.. the CSM landraider, the CSM rhino/pred box and the CSM vindi box. of course with that set up they'd only be saving one box.

While it's not a bad idea, I just wonder what the logistics would be worldwide, and how much current packaging would have to be gone through before the new stuff could start?

interestingly the skyray box already comes with the hammerhead sprue in it as some of the parts are needed and not on the sky ray sprue - yet they have never sold them as one combined kit.
