and 'gangsta rap' is just another "genre" for those who have no musical tastes whatsoever, and is for the mass of sheep who just follow what everyone else does around them.
if you really want a good song for the IG, check out the US Army's "Army Song" hehehe... ok, if you have taken the time to actually find/listen to it, then you will know just how much sarcasm i said this with... and you know my pain, as almost everywhere i go, it gets sung
In all seriousness, I have to say Death Metal isn't my genre so the choices will vary from the rest
Necron - Creeds "Bullets" works nicely. The slow start before the tempo rises, I always see a lone Necron lord stalking toward the enemy before raising his Resurrection orb, Lighting blasting out in all directions and a whole host of Necrons rising from the earth.
Then again, same can be said for Space marines with Drop pods, Daemons and Vampire Counts from fantasy though.
Imperial Guard, I quite like remembering WW2/Marine poems and thinking them or even quotig them mid battle. Really quite beautiful some of them.
I know its so wrong, but "Through heavens eyes" is always played when my Plague marines hit the table. Nurgle is possibly the only jolly thing in the entire 40K Universe, and imagining the Plague Marines "Slow and Purposeful" rule actually coming from the fact they are dancing to Grandfather Nurgles happy song is sublime....Maybe thats just me.
And I agree with one of the previous posters. Wagners "Ride of the Valkyries" works for anyone.
There is but one path to victory, and it is pathed with Blood and Skulls. For the Glory of Khorne, By the Might of Khor'Ghurneth!!
On that line of reasoning, has anyone mentioned The Trooper yet?
Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

I see Eldar dancing to fun techno and trance music like this and this. But then again I envision that 40k is really a neverending dance party where they play a metagame of 40k to settle disputes.
Bah, never liked these threads. Too often people suggest music simply because the title/lyrics seem to match, i.e., "lolz it's got demon in the title that works perfect for daemon armies!", "maggots = Nurgle"...
I don't think people are actually trying to find something that suits the look and feel of an army, just going through their CD collection (which seems to consist of mostly metal/mallcore) and trying to find something with an appropriate title, and I personally don't think that works very well. Then again I'm very picky and, if I had any talent whatsoever, would prefer to compose something original for every 40k army instead. I know what music works, but it's trapped in my head and no one but me can hear it.
But if this thread is just "what you listen to while playing 40k" then it works perfectly.

For anything with ominous, amassed armies. The intro is so perfect for the first glimpse of a huge army coming over a hilltop. Then as it peaks you zoom out and up and see the entire force. That's what I always imagine during the intro, and for the main body of the song I imagine the attack beginning. Great song...
Maybe as the drumroll goes off a whole whack of drop pods landing almost in unison...

Schoolboy error by Evil Eli - 'O, Fortuna' should be replaced for marines by 'Ave Florisissima' (why people always pick O, Fortuna as the best bit of Carmina Burana is beyond me, unless its because it was on the Old Spice advert... ).
