Mine is an Illinois legal AK, but I had at least 4 times where it double taped and fire 2-3 shots just like it was an auto. I think ill get rid of that problem when I clean it later.... ill make sure to oil it real good.
So.... any gun range stories to share on the interweb?
About all I can afford to shoot these days is .22LR.
The closest thing I have to a good range story is this....The range I went to a lot where I used to live was the state wildlife management area range, and it so happens that this range does not have any sort of range officer or supervision. Personally, the place has always kept me feeling a bit jittery as on a holiday weekend there are a few too many shooting irons there for me to feel comfortable without someone in charge to organize things. This particular day I was there with about thirty other shooters, both handgun and long arms. Well, we decided to call the range cold for a target change and it just so happened that for whatever reason the rifle range people started downrange before any of the pistol shooters walked out. Well, the guy on the far right end of the pistol range just starts firing when the rifle folks were about ten feet downrange. I reckon he didn't see any of the people adjacent to him walk out, and he just wasn't paying attention. If it wasn't for the potential danger of the situation, it would have been funny watching everyone hit the deck. I'm sure the guy was a little embarrased when he heard everyone shouting to cease fire. It gets better though, turns out that this guy was a police officer. I hope he pays more attention when he's out on patrol.
As for the guy catching brass in the face...if he's going to try something like that he should at least have some glasses. I actually read an article several years ago in one of the shooting magazines, perhaps Guns and Ammo, about competition shooters trying to hold a handgun sideways and seeing if they could still fire accurately. The conclusion was, which didn't really need to be tested, that it is an inherently inaccurate way to shoot a firearm. As for brass, my .22 is bad about throwing hot brass at strange angles. I had a spent .22 cartridge fall down my shirt one day, and I can assure you that was a memorable experience. I'm glad no one was there that day to watch me dance around trying to get that brass to fall out.

Took my 7.62 X .54 Russian nagant and my 8MM Mauser out yesterday. Got me a 1.75 inch group shooting at 50 yards with the Mauser The Russian was kind of what I was expecting, 4.5 inches with 10 rounds at 50 yards. Shoulder took a pounding when I shot that Russian.... that thing has one heck of a kick to it. And oddly enough putting the bayonet out on it improved accuracy quite a bit Tried to shoot each one standing, crouching, and resting..... Each grouping got tighter. Next time I go out. I am going to bring my 9mm Hi Point, 30-06 scoped Mauser, and whatever I pick up at the gun show next weekend. Hi Point at 50 yards, Mauser at 75-100, and mystery gun at whatever I feel like.

but i really dont want another bullet to buy, so if i can find one in 30-06 that would be great as i allready have a rechambered mauser in 30-06.
@ Illeix. Thanks for that link!! starting to droll over those M16's kits now... may or may not get it, stupid .223.
I own an ar-15, and they are quite nice with a tea plate sized group at 100m, but don't you dare buy a desecrated version of one those nice 98k mausers, just get an M1 garand or an m14 (both in 30-06). Iv'e actually still got mine from my military days when they let you bring things home. I even heard about this guy got a 155mm howitzer home once, ahh the good old days..
But envy if your worried about ammo shortages DO NOT GET A NAGANT REVOLVER. They are cool and all how they are the only silencer capable revolver and all, but the ammo always has to be internet shipped and air shipping or even ground shipping such cargo is a nogo for a lot of people.

BUT... i can get a replacment cylinder for the revolver so it will fire .32 auto (if i rememebr right).... a much more comon round... that, and that revolver would be more of a wall hanger.
I have the same problem with the M1 as I do with AR-15.... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I haven't been shooting in forever, the last time I went I had my Mosin Nagant Model 1891/30 with its 7.62x 54R military load and it beat the feth out of my shoulder, but it was a very accurate weapon out their that day. The other gun that got brought out was my friend's G3, well the PTR-91 copy of the G3. That thing was a great shoot, I even out shot him with it.
Note about the Mosin Nagant Model 1891/30, the barrel on that weapon loves to heat up very quickly, and the way the fore grip is set up on that leave your fingers rather close to the chamber and you'll burn yourself if you aren't careful.
If I get back in the military I'll be going to the range to use the M-16, which only certain versions are good and the Basic Training rifles you get issued are generally in worse condition than one you'll get in the field.
