Agamemnon2 wrote:"It's not that simple" is the only right answer, when you get down to it. I'd go for O scale myself, because the Imperium does everything big. If you don't want trains that actually run, getting some old junkers off ebay shouldnt be that expensive. The same with track, old stuff that's unusable for building layouts anymore shouldnt be too hard to find. Depending on where you live, of course. In Europe, O scale is expensive and rare.
That's what I was going to suggest. Check Craig's List, eBay, locla flea markets, etc for stuff liek this if you just want a wrecked train to decorate a table.
Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

I don't get it!?!? It's just some camera shots flying around some different cities?!?!
Just kidding of course. That's the best ever! Makes me want to move back to Deutschland! I miss that kind of display (although I never saw one that spectacular in person). Wow wow and wow!
Hmm - Maybe bring back the ol' Squat Land Train? . . .
No madam, 40,000 is the year that this game is set in. Not how much it costs. Though you may have a point. - GW Fulchester The Gatling Guns have flamethrowers on them because this is 40k - DOW III

That has to be the best model set up every made. I've seen the large train set up at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, and it doesn't compare to this one.
I actually got to go and visit it since starting this thread too. I was quite surprised at just how many naked people they've snuck in all over the place (naked hikers, people doing it in cars/fields/caravans, nudist camp, etc).
One really cool thing not shown in the video is that it is spread over 2 floors in the building, and as you go upstairs, the trains are all running under your feet and are visible through perspex windows in some of the steps.
Check out our new, fully plastic tabletop wargame - Maelstrom's Edge, made by Dakka!

Sounds so cool, I'm jealous. Is it bad that I want to shape a vacation around this, yes dear-I want to take you to Germany. Oh what's this? We should check out this train thing...

And people say the Germans have no sense of humour. I used to collect playmobil and some of the scenes they made for that had subtle(?) humour in them too. Be nice if GW ever did something like this, that is a proper diorama rather than an advertising piece.

GW has done some stunning dioramas over the years. Sadly I suppose they're either crated in storage somewhere or worse destroyed after they're done. GW World.
