the murlocs are not original to warcraft- the name is ripped off of "Morlocs", and the concept is a ripoff of the "Deep Ones" from the Cthulhu mythos

I bet 6 Internets that it's going to be pirates/zombie pirates.

Any takers?

No way.

GW already released Zombie Pirates of the Vampire Coast for WFB so that's an auto-win for you.

If it's not Fishmen, I'm guessing Dogs of War, which are well overdue for a revamp.

maybe it's not a new army, but a new add-on for everyone, e.g. a Warhammer version of Apocalypse? I'm not sure what 'super-heavy' models they'd release for it though...

They already tried that:

Warhammer Legendary Battles.

It failed.

Does a White Dwarf release even count?

Not that I'm interested in Warhammer Legendary Battles, but Apocalypse was marketed
complete with actual sales. It also had foothold since 40k has always had large vehicles via
Armorcast and Forge World.

no, but you said it was 'birthed'- and as a devote of lovecraftian horror, I couldnt let that one slip by me (no hard feeling I hope! )

Warhammer Fantasy already scales up fairly well without the need of Apocalypse. While I don't play much about the mid2K range, people can and do play in the 3-5K range without issue.

Well they don't have an army book, so it's a fair bet. It's part of GW's effort to reach out to the hip youth of 2002.

Codex Matrix will follow soon after.

I say it's Cathay, in whatever form that might take (Dragon Kingdoms?).

I dare to bet it will be nothing special, just a few new units for your existing armies.

Either that or Chaos Dwarves...

Yeah I think something else Chaos. There's not enough what with Warriors of Chaos, Beasts of Chaos and Chaos Daemons. Chaos Dwarves would just sit nicely in that empty void of Chaos armies.

I think it should be some sort of Dragon army, with massive (and points-heavy) units. I'd love to see a 2'000 point list consisting of half a dozen models.

Up your nose with a rubber hose.

Privateer already has Zombie Pirates, but if it means we get new plastic zombie bits, then I'm all for it. IMHO the current zombie kit is awful. Giant heads, giant hands, ugh.

What about Araby?

Chaos Dwarfs, or are they too standard in the fantasy universe? I mean, when they get released, they will be overhauled from the ground (think wood elves)

Equinox wrote:All humor aside, I would expect if the rumors are true, the army will be revealed at the UK Games Day, Sept 27th, 2009. I would expect GW wanting to make such a big reveal in their own backyard. I would also expect it at this time, as this could be the late November/early December release. (Got to have something big for the holidays.)

As for the nature of the army, pirates is a possibility. I really believe it is down to four options: pirates, fishmen, cathay, or old ones (angels).

Obviously that means it will be old pirate fish from cathay.

Pah haven't you heard Planetfall will actually involve the landing of Space Marines on the Warhammer World. As thats the planet their falling on.

True, my mates and I played a 2v2 6k battle last weekend and the only difference is that it takes longer to actually play the game.

That was the old High Elf Dragonrider army of 3rd edition.

1. Take one general, on dragon
2. Add one elite choice of HE cavalry, of course on Dragons
3. Go out and have fun with flames.

"Bloodstorm! Ravenblade! Slayer of worlds! Felt the power throb in his weapon. I think fishmen is a dumb idea personally. I'd rather see them do either an araby army with scimitars and turbans and poofy pants riding big war elephants, or maybe something asiany with samauris and katanas and those happy little flags on their back. A lot like Skorne for Hordes, only plastic.

Pirates would be really cool, cuz pirates are just cool to begin with, but maybe that would be better as a DOW redo, only more piratey themed?

They don't need anything new for chaos unless it's a beastman redo.

That was my question......but of course, there was a thinly veiled "Grape Ape" reference earlier than that....I guess the only mature thing to do in this situation would be to..........Follow Suit!!
