I was a student that completed school with 'A's' in English, but I still use LOL and various other 'txtspk'. Just because you move with the times doesn't mean that you are dumb.

I think people who do not embrace 'txtspk' and other types of written communication are ignorant. Just look at english 500 years ago, it was insanely complicated, if people were not to evolve and change over the years we wouldn't have the language we have today.

On the other hand though the mass abbreviation of words should be kept to SMS messages, I don't really think its super neccessary to do it on a keyboard.

Some fantastic derailing in here guys. Awesomesauce.

Chicken, get yourself some white cardboard and set up a small lightbox, make sure you have a decent lightsource, and resist the urge to take the pics as close as possible.

Fix up the photos before uploading them, which means rotating and cropping.

You should be looking for about £2 per plastic infantry, I am not saying that to be harsh, I am saying that so you have a better chance of getting some customers.

Write up a proper explanation of what you are offering, what levels of painting you offer, and a basic idea of price per model size and painting leve, and supplement it with lots of unblurred well lit photos, then see if you can get people to bite.

This thread will do more damage than good for you, so best to start over.

Don't read too much into the thread Ifalna; nobody's been insulted yet and I think Chicken has got what he came for.

@ Sicarious= As a student of the English language, you might be well versed in Orwell. Txtspk sounds a little sinister to me if you imagine it's similarity to the breaking down of sentences which is prevailent in Mr. Smiths society

@ Sicarious= I completely agree I use it in text messages where it belongs and then only rarely cause I have one of those sweet full keyboard phones. (I love my phone) or while on AIM. I like to smack people who say it in real life.

Edit: the model is the skulltaker here

Your maturity is undermined by the sound of your message which still appears slightly childish as your quick to boast about your skills...

Okay Deadly Chicken, some tips on painting, I hope these help!

1. You should try and achieve a nice and even basecoat which covers the enter model. Its harder to do with a brush so usually a spray can is my basecoat method of choice followed up with the brush.

2. You should work on even and clean basecoats, i can spot some messy paint work like silver on the left hand holding the plasma gun. More importantly, the new washes are a blessing for new painters as it easily allows you to shade areas and gives them the detail which alot of good painters strive to achieve. Give them a try.

3. You need to be more patient, i get the impression your slapping paint on. The best places i can point this out are on the gold on the chest eagle and maybe the red knee-pad. I can still see black peeking out from underneath it and its still rather messy. Work your paints up for those hard colors. Paint a brown underneath the red and a darker gold underneath the gold, in short build up your colors with layers.

If you plan to take commissions and don't have the proper paints and materials required to match the specifics of your client then your going to have a hard time finding customers. Make sure you have the materials you need. If you can, visit a local GW and get some tips from the staff, demonstrations by hand can often be more enlightening then simply reading comments like this one. I'm with Infalna on that idea that this thread does more damage than it does good. Good luck.
