QFT.

For example:
The M1 Para Carbine is 100% origional made by Inland (General Motors Wartime)....
M1 Garand is 100% origional and I can trace the history back to the Marines Corps In the Pacific In WW2....
The Ak47 Bayonet I pulled off a Insurgent In Iraq...
The .30 Mauser is in 98% condition and all matching...
Kar98 german marked....
12 guage side by side over around 100 years old...
Top .303 is WW2 surplus...
Bottom .303 is WW1 Surplus.. (notice size difference)
Colt 1911A1 is 1943 origional production... was lend leased to GB and stamped on Frame, Slide, and barrel with the Tower Of London Armory along with a Property Of British Government Stamp on frame. 96% condition. Worth a boat load of cash.
1916 lugar... 94% condition.. Paid $400 at Estate sale... worth almost 3x that.
DPMS M4 in 7.62x39... is *now* Out of Production. Price has gone up almost $500 since I bought it cause of this.

As you can see for the most part, I am a collector. Most people put their money in banks hopeing that inflation or a bad economy doesnt wipe them out. I invest my money in guns. Laugh all you want, but since Obama came into office ive almost trippled my investment.

I thought the Marines used the Springfield 03, because they preferred the reliability of bolt action?

Firearms are pretty hard to come by in Australia.

My grandfather had a .303 and a .22 rifle on the farm but since the amnesty back in 1996 I don't know if they are still around.

My weapon of choice at home is a great walking stick, solid wood and with a ball at the handle end to smash my foes with.

That and the kitchen knives.

You also used to be able to buy killer slingshots, like the one pictured below but they are banned to now. :(

I have a 1918 enfield .303 but being in the UK it is deactivated. Still looks just as good (and mean). It has the original leather strap and is in good condition, but I dont have the bayonet for it.

I would love a good shooting .303 if I could get a proper scope mount for it. The old Enfields are just cool.

The only shooting ones you can get in the UK are ones that have been converted to air rifles or shotguns. I'd sooner have one with a filled barrel than one that has suffered that indignity though!

Well you can get genuine shooters here. The difficulty is that most of them have very worn barrels. Their accuracy is usually pretty bad as a result. I am not sure if anyone makes new replacement barrels for it.

The most expensive fire arm pictured is the FN 5.7. It cost me 1k when I bought it, I've only shot it on a few occasions. Every thing else pictured was 500 bucks or less.

I'd like to consider myself a collector one day, you have to start some where. I do a fair amount of pistol shooting, it's quite the challenge and my favourite kind of gun to shoot. Skeet is a blast with the 'Rolling Thunder' because all the old timers look at you and frown.

I don't shoot the rifles much, but that's only because they're for the zombies..........

I've found out that it is legal to have firearms around here. Only it's very heavily regulated: you are required to become a member of a shooting club, be an apprentice or something for five years before getting a gun of your own and you are required to have a mental examination every seven years.

And then when you finally want to buy a gun, hello extreme taxes, import costs and other costs.

Let me restate, if I had the money and She Who Must Be Obeyed quit breaking my guns, I would love a good...
For future reference:
1. Are there mounts available for conventional sport scopes?

2. Do you know of any with good barrels or a sell new barrels?

I have a .40 Smith and Wesson M&P handgun and a Winchester 101 over-under for sporting clays and skeet. I'd post pics, but I'm at work and they generally frown on bringing weapons to work. It's like being a cop in London. (Boooooo ubermosher, your jokes suck.)

I want to get (and even have ubermoshette's permission) an AR and a .22 scoped rifle for target shooting down at the club (nothing like a hitting a golf ball with a .223 round at 100 yards), but ever since Jan '09 AR's and even AK's have been impossible to find around here (South Carolina) and .22 long rifle bricks are sold out seconds after going up on the shelf.

Same here. I've 2,000 LR rounds on order, and feel I grossly underestimated the need on the .22 LR front.

See, the nice thing is that I reload/cast my own ammo.. with as high as ammo inflation is atm, I can make most of my rounds for under 25Cents a round. Cept for .50BMG... I cant seem to figure out how to manufacture that for under 3.50 a round.

*EDIT*
Whomever made that M4 Sporting Rifle needs to be shot with it! lol

I was... Until my friends neighbor passed away who reloaded since the 80's cause it was his main hobby.

Picked up about 10,000 various primers. (Magnum, Rifle, Pistol, shotgun ect ect)

And about two weeks ago the man who taught me to shoot succumbed to a very long and painful battle with his health. Myself and another friend of mine were left with his lifelong collection of reloading equipment.

I was able to pick up a 2nd Lead melter, a 25lb container of Mil Surp Powder, about 50lbs of hard lead ingots, more bullets then I could count, and another 5,000 rifle primers. (Friend took all the pistol primers)

*Edit*
Almost forgot, got a newer lead density tester, and a electronic powder scale too. Still sorting through his overstuffed library of reloading journals from what seems to be every company under the sun.

I would like to think so. What would really solve this problem is if the dang companys would up production. No reason why they should STILL be 6-8 months behind on orders.

Its heavy industry to an extent. I don't think they see this as long term, and not worth the additional capital investment. Ironically the big fear driver: regulation, includes rounds as well. Manufacturers have to consider that future regulatory limits would limit sales, and they don't want to be left holding the bag either.
