2 5 man units of Pirahnas can easily drop FNP ; Terminators ; whatever they are melta guns.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

They're also 750 points before upgrades, and die to a stiff breeze.

They're tougher and faster then the suits, and can split into two units in advantageous situations, while carrying compareable fire power.

Personally, I like the suits conceptually, but I think they're up there for "least point efficient unit" in the codex, so they only ever seem to exist in the first draft or too of an army list, as soon as I go back over it looking to improve things they go away.

Suits not only have better firepower, but are more mobile because they can JSJ, and can fire two weapons and still move 12 inches per turn.
Their armament is also much, much better.
Against terminators or MEQs a rapid firing plasma rifle is better than a fusion blaster, at the same range.
And Piranhas can't take flamers or missile pods or plasma rifles or CIBs or AFPs or shield drones or marker drones or more than 2 gun drones.

Fortunatly for most tau players that award goes to Kroot Hounds, Shaper and Kroot Ox...and with the exception of the Shaper are more expensive in real life than in game terms.

Hollismason - Pirahnas are good but they are not that good, they are opened toped and because they are a squad die on a 4+...also since they all have to fire at the same unit their firepower is somewhat nullified.

DukeRustfield - There's nothing wrong with beer and pretzels. I'm pretty sure they are the most important members of the food group.

Sorry I ought to have added "that I ever actually see on the battlefield". I honestly forgot entirely about some of those units.

I have seen them both do great damage and be vaporized with ease, in the same game. They drop guardsmen effectivly and carry enough weapon variaty to threaten my tanks and chew through guardsmen. On the opposite side they are fire magnets and while this has uses they are a very expensive fire magnet that can't tolerate that much fire for long (Few things survive 120 lasgun shots).

When I first saw this I cried on the inside and laughed on the outside. Crisis battlesuits...worthless? You're joking right? I mean this has to be a joke. My friend, if you use them right, they are the most brutal piece of equipment in the Tau arsenal hands down.

The only reason I think you may be saying something like this is due to the fact that you MUST be using them wrong. I can promise you that Crisis battle suits armed with fusion blasters and Plasma rifles deep striking behind enemy lines is not only going to screw up their tanks, but also their infantry. If you put enough points into them their survivability is astounding! 2+ SV with Iridum armor, and a 4+ IVU save from the shield generator. On top of that they are most likely the most mobile unit in the entire game, and to throw it more ontop of them, they have more than one wound.

My friend, you MUST be using them wrong and I seriously think you should look up how to properly arm, and use Crisis battle suits.

Personally I love Crisis Suits, they're really Tau's only out to FNP and 2+ saves and although I was skeptical at first about Missile Pods they have worked marvelouslly in the games I'vep layed. If you're having problem with Instant Death, you can give them drones for extra wounds I run 9 of them in my list and they almost always get their points back. As for assault, well anything in Tau seems to die if it gets into assault with marines unless you're insanely lucky or if they charge you with 1 or 2 models. The JSJ should remedy that however, and the plasma and fusion blasters negate the saves of fast attack infantry anyway

As for Pirahnas I love them and run 3 in my current list along with 9 crisis suits

Crisis suits are S5, well armoured and have a decent number of attacks. I often find myself charging with them to finish off the last couple of enemy guys in a squad thats taken a pounding.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I disagree 100%

I just won a couple games do to Crisis Suits.

1st game VS Guard... they didn't stand a chance. It was some good target practice for my real guns then clean up by the suits.

2nd game vs Spaz marines... they did better but I still won. The best part IMO in that game, the command squad was tied down in CC vs my FW who were actually doing alright... My crisis team was moving away from the melee, I knew I would lose CC... When my FWs finally died (they dind't break, surprisingly) I openned up on the comand squad... Killing them all.

But crisis suits are useless right? NOT. keep them out of CC but then Tau suck in CC.
