You do know they were playing Brazil don't you? To even get that far ahead of them is an achievement for a country where (proper) football must come about fifth on the list for any serious sportsman (although admittedly, there will be more of those in a country that size).
TO be fair to gwar, although he is a sniping sig nicking little troll, I can see his point. The US were playing the way england used to a few years back under sven, i.e. score then park a bus in fornt of your goal and hope for dear life they don't score against you. A more experienced/better managed team wouldn't have lost that lead.

Haven't watched the game yet, maybe I'll watch the first half and pretend that Bradley isn't an awful coach.
The US almost certainly through to the World Cup. Costa Rica in first, but the US has Mexico to play. Mexico is rather weak this year, so it should be a fairly easy game. Seeing that top three teams from each group qualify and Honduras is behind by three points, the US is fairly safe.

heres one for you. You americans may find this controversial....Thers quite a lot of popularity for this idea over here in europe. Especially after the recent euro championships doing so well.
The idea is, continents like north america, asia, oceana should be given less world cup spots. At the moment the euro, african and south american confederation championships are a better watch than the world cup. Mainly because rubbish teams like the domenican republic don't end up qualifying. I mean why should saudi aurabia be in the world cup when teams like the netherlands (example) don't qualify because they get drawn against italy and france in their qualifying group (again an example).
what do you think to that?

I think that World Cup Qualifying should be changed to invite the top 32 Teams as per the FIFA Rankings, and give more weight to regional championships on the FIFA rankings

I think that's a great idea. I have always thought it's stupid that Concacaf has three teams going through from the group and Europe only gets two.

Huh? Europe has 9 Groups. Top teams auto Qualify, 8 best runners up play off to the 4 remaining slots.

Soccer is a serious sport? Isn't the reason why we changed football to soccer is because soccer sounds funny and football actually makes some sense?

It's no more serious than the sport that looked at Rugby and then decided to add maxi pads for extra protection. I heard that Kotex is the official supplier of all NFL pads... snicker snicker
