I had two heavy support battlewagons, and one dedicated transport battlewagon.
Trukks are not tanks; if you give them a reinforced ram, then they may ram and then count as tanks for ramming. I think ramming with a trukk (even at 18") would be pretty suicidal, so I don't do it. *ponders* Although....if I were to ram a trukk into a land raider, get my trukk wrecked, and be forced to disembark, is there any reason that the disembarked unit couldn't then shoot and assault?
And Khorne; post what you like about our private messages. I messaged you about deff rollas not being responsible for ork wins, and you responded by being a jerk. Reveal what you like.
And yes...I *DO* have a big ego. I've never tried to hide it. 75% of all the posts I make in the forums are in the Army list section, and consistently involve me advising Tau and Ork players that my ideas for their armylists are better than their ideas, and they should tweak what they're doing to add/subtract a few things. That should be evidence enough that I think I'm a better 40k player than your typical gamer.
And no surprise....I entered 'Ard Boyz because I want to know if my ideas for army lists and my tactics are superior to everyone else. Continue scoffing at me all you like, but so far...I keep winning. 'Ard Boyz is just the latest in a long string of tournaments I've won. Yep, big ego. I *WANT* to lose somewhere, and find something that can take me down. I don't learn anything from winning; I've even mostly stopped looking for friendly games in my free time because they always turn out the same; the only exception is when I have someone over to the house, and we're drinking booze and having a good time. But hanging out for 3-5 hours in a game store hunched over a table while being surrounded by folks when half of them have a very frenchy view on showers and body odor just so that I can table someone....isn't fun.
I'm absolutely competitive, have always been, will always be. *shrugs* Can't help it.
*EDIT* Although, I had an absolutely unique experience on Saturday! The store I played at....90% of the gamers there were in the Army, and soldiers know how to shower. It was blissfully odor free, and the gamers were mostly fun guys; I had a blast.

I would love for you to explain how me pointing out your ego makes me a jerk when you freely admit it. I'm glad your the only person who ever wins a lot. I dont have to boast about how good I am. My final comment to you is get out of your pond and we'll see how good you truly are. If the armies you played in this report are an example of what you face then I know why you win.
And for the recond I was referring to this little gem you said:
"I went to the second round (and brought friends who can't even go) SPECIFICALLY to deny a semi-final ticket to someone else at that store. The store I played at Sunday....the local "in-crowd" are elitist, alienate outsiders, and are absolutely rude. My friends won't even go there for a friendly game, so we either play at my house or meet at a different store. We went specifically to ensure that those guys didn't get to advance to semi-finals. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd....all taken by other people. Job well done"
so who's the real elitist jerk?

Congratulations on your victories. You're obviously the best player at the local stores that you played at.
Your list looks good if unexceptional. You clearly out-played some people at the tournament. That is a testament to your playing abilities.
The lists you played against on the first day were terrible. The guard player you played against in round 1 of the first day appears to have no idea what he was doing. How many meltas was he using? How many flamer templates? What types of Lehman Russ? Any additional details you could provide would be appreciated.
Good luck in the next round.

Who's the elitist jerks? I'm guessing it would be the folks who make real life threats when they lose a game, call one of my friends a cheater on a mass distro to everyone he plays against (without including him on the e-mail of course) despite having nothing to back it up, and are fans of absolutely vile language and name calling.
Yeah...I know exactly whose spot I took away, and I'm glad to have done it. The other two guys who placed at the store on Sunday were also "non locals" and I'm positively thrilled that they won 2nd and 3rd. I don't intend on ever going back to that store again; I only went for 'Ard Boyz to take a winning spot there. I guess you could say that when I'm mistreated, I do something about it instead of just whining...even if the "doing something about it" is as small as that.
If you think that makes me a jerk...that's your prerogative. I don't start fights, but when a core group of gamers who "nest" in one particular store go out of their way to alienate and offend people not in their club to the point where gamers not in their club simply refuse to go to that store anymore, I don't feel a whit guilty about going into hostile territory and denying any of them a win. Nope.

No, I'm afraid it's still you for participating twice in the same tournament with the sole purpose of ruining someone else's experience.
Acting like a jerk to another jerk doesn't change the fact that you acted like a jerk.

Joining a tournament to win doesn't ruin someone elses' experience. If you think that it does, then you shouldn't play competitively.

Perhaps you missed the part about joining the same tournament twice.
Furthermore, there's a big difference between going to win and going just to stop someone else from winning. Clearly, your intent was the latter, not the former, by your own admission. That's just pure malice (ie, being a jerk).

Kevin:
The game on the first day against IG:
I gave the best details I could; I apologize that I don't know more about which IG tanks are which. He had some small blast melta template things, several STR10 weapons, melta guns on the guys inside his tanks...there was a lot of melta. If he had any flamers, they didn't get used. The things that hurt me were melta templates or bastion breachers or something dropping on my nobs. I'm not sure about flamers though; between my tankbustas and Ghazghkull + Nobs, I took out 1/3 of his tanks on my first charge, then Snikrot came in and took out more on the other side...there wasn't really a chance to flamer me; my vehicles did a great job surviving his melta templates and ordnance shots (except for two of them) with my KFF, and there wasn't an opponent shooting turn between me disembarking and assaulting his tanks for him to throw any flamers my way. Between that charge and my next, I had a wall of trukks and battlewagons bisecting his army, which is why my boyz on the ground didn't get beaten up more than they did. My nobs took a beating because they failed about....5 of 6 possible 4+ cover saves. Miserable gits.

Sounds like he didn't bother walling off your charge attempts with vehicle walls.
Did your assaults on his vehicles hit on a 6+, 4+ or automatically?

I needed combinations of 4+ and 6+, and unfortunately never got to auto-hit, except against a leman russ type tank that I had stunned the previous turn. In my book, almost anything I do to a tank is free lunch money. If it can't move then I get to autohit next turn, and if it can't move or shoot, even better. Destroyed and explodes obviously take care of business too.
I don't think he was a phenomenal mechanized IG player by any stretch of the imagination; I played a number of practice rounds prior to 'Ard Boyz against mechanized IG lists that all gave me significantly more trouble.

The guard player didn't seem to have a solid build or idea in mind. No offense Dash but I could see your phalanx running over him since he didn't seem to do anything intelligent with his vehicles. Vehicles aren't only transports or shooting units. Used aggressively they also channel assaults and leave orks in a horrible position for the next turn.
I ran 14 armored vehicles and 100+ infantry this sunday and w/all the heavy flamers and multilasers I don't think most ork player would stand a chance. The one guy I did play was similar to yours except that he only had 2 battlewagons and I wiped him even though I couldn't bring my whole army to bear on him. He started in one corner after I rolled in across my entire back edge (had to, to many vehicles to be able to deploy any other way).

Yeah Dash, he had cover saves the entire game because of that dang force field. There was just a lot of shots and I couldn't shoot w/my demolishers for the first 2 turns (to far out of position) and I didn't get to use 4 of my chimera's for the entire game :(
But that said he got a total of 4 KP's off my possible 36 KP list in the second scenario. I have to say that my psyker squad was the MVP making his regular bikers run and for making his nob squad when it was just a nob, the warboss, and the mad doc.
Now he wasn't the best Ork player i've run into either but trukks just die 4+ save or not to as many shots as guard can put out. And that's not even counting the no cover save ordinance you can take We'll see in the second round how things go. I think i've got a few tweaks to my list that will help a lot more than hurt.

Thanks Somnicide. =p
Like I said...three times now I think....the top three people at each 'Ard Boyz quarter-finals got yellow tickets which get them into semi-finals. I *knew* I would win on Sunday (or at least place), and wanted to play new folks when the opportunity arose, so I went to the tournament on Saturday to see how I would fare in a larger "pond" full of people I'd never met. I was pleased to win, but I left my ticket with the tournament organizer, and it was passed on to the 5th place winner (2nd place couldn't go, and his went to 4th place).
Sunday's 'Ard Boyz rounds were for keeps.

I'm not sure; I didn't run into that situation. Both of my mechanized IG opponents had PBS, but they didn't get to shoot at my boyz before I exploded their chimeras on both days; I killed at least half of each squad with the explosion, and then picked away at the remainder with big shootas.

Wouldn't have mattered. His mob was normally down to 2-3 models. Haven't read the mob rule recently but aren't they the leadership of models they have down to 7 and then leadership applies normally? I would never have tried to use it on a unit over 10 models since that unit is fearless. Or at least that's how I read it. I only used it on guys that were 10 or less and would only think to. Is that right?
@Dash
Both your opponents weren't playing smart then. That unit is the godsend against orks and should have been protected at all costs. Especially as you were running Ghaz. As in a chimera behind battle tanks or putting them on foot against a vehicle to block LOS unit needed
Ware the PBS!!!!! It could be your doom!!!!

Orks may choose to substitute their base leadership with the number of orks in their mob. If that number goes above 10, then they are fearless.
The PBS reduces leadership, or causes a large blast template with STR=number of members in PBS squad, with AP=D6.....am I thinking of the right guys?
So if you attempt to reduce the leadership of a fearless squad, what then? Because I *do* run Ghazghkull, and the most important turn of the game (when I'm disembarked and charging) I'm typically on the Waaaugh! which makes my entire army fearless.

Oh I can't do anything to a fearless unit since it won't need to take a leadership test ever. I know there is one turn I can't make you run Your thinking of the right guys.
But it's the fact that I can make you run on any other turn by killing 2-3 (bringing them below 10 and/or making them take a normal break test) is something I would protect with everything in my army. True you can come back from it if your not under half but just making you run backwards and waste another turn is worth it. And if i position my vehicles right you won't be charging anything but a few chimera's. Leaving you out cold next turn It's a tough thing for Orks because if you do have an uber unit it's a real nasty combo. In fact orks and eldar are the two reasons I brought the squad.

Fixture of Dakka
Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Well, I look forward to someday getting a game against this tactic; I always like seeing new things. New threats mean I need to think of new ways to deal with them...although positioning a couple of chimeras in a manner that would force me to charge them to the exclusion of all else sounds a little simplified? I cart around boarding planks on my vehicles specifically so that I don't have to expose my orks to charge vehicles, and since Deff Rollas are going to work in (at least my semi-final round) rolling a couple of chimeras up to me to block my mechanized progress is going to get them rammed and destroyed, their contents exposed to massive dakka...or if the chimeras survive they'll get shot at, and assaulted if need be, all without an ork ever sticking their head out of a trukk or battlewagon.
I guess I'm trying to say that I think that there are too many variables to make any sort of forum predictions about how a game might go. Hope to actually meet my personal artist one day. =p
