I like what I've read from the WotR rules and the more balanced look of the minis, but won't pay GW's exorbitant prices to start a new game right now.

Boring and overall pretty lame for a tabletop game IMO..

I find the army selection rules (or lack thereof), and the hand-to-hand combat rules to be sub-par, but I enjoy WotR immensely.

Lotr is the reason I binned my WD sub, the game is simply pants and WD is now 60% lotr crap and 20 % ads leaving 10% of NEW MODEL ODER NOWW and 10% ooh shiny pictures..

I just hate the flipping game. Although I haven't played the latest version, all the previous ones SUCKED arse as far as I am concerned.

I don't like it for just about every reason listed.

The original game system had too much focus on the heroes and small battles. Not LoTR in my mind. Big events with individuals able to shape the outcome? Sure. Not hero duels with redshirts around him. (how it is) War of the ring helps with that, but not that much.

As for the models, most of them look pretty good. Just the awful ones happen to be models that should be showcases. I think the balrog looks pretty damn lame without a good amount of conversion work. There is no helping the ents, might as well field a stick I found in the woods.

There isn't many players in my area who actually play the game. Mostly ust a couple of kids who collect the minis. (as in 12 year olds).

I resent the fact that the FLGS has to stock a minimum of the line to sell gw product, as it doesn't move at all. The local store has probably sold more blood bowl sets than LotR.

The criteria I have for a game is this: I have to like the models (fail/success) I have to like the rules (fail for both version) I have to be able to find a game (crickets) And it has to support the FLGS I play at (forced stocking of a crappy game that doesn't sell is bad for the business)

I'm sure that other places and players like the game. Just not for me.

I think War of the Rings is the best game system GW has come up with. The movement and combat is far more fluid than Fantasy. A really solid rule set. I still like Fantasy and 40K, but recently War has been my favorite to play.

I enjoy the game alot and the minis are nice as well. Some could have been molded better but the game is fairly inexpensive to get into. I own 5 armies Arnor, Gondor, Dwarfs, Goblins, and finally orcs.

I tried it once for about a week, and never really developed much interest in it. It seems like a waste of GW's money to me, considering they already have Warhammer Fantasy which is far more solid and established as a tabletop game. It just seems like they tried to slap a new coat of paint on an old house so to speak. I think LotR as a tabletop game should go to a different manufacturer for just that reason. Plus it would let GW focus more on their two best-sellers, which would probably do more for pricing and miniature ranges.

I love the game but not as many players in my local store, so can be difficult to find players. But great game.

I accidentally voted other (poasting here).

What I really meant was, I don't have any, but would like to someday.

I think the miniatures line has some of the best stuff GW has to offer. I don't have much interest in playing the actual game, but I do have interest in getting a few of the minis to paint up (I'm looking at you, Riders of Rohan!).

They might find use in some sort of skirmish game, like Mordheim.

Like many I played when it first came out, when it was primarily a small-scale skirmish game but quit once the initial push died out. I found it an enjoyable diversion from the more "serious" tabletop games and never thought of it as anything that would become a system to compete with Fantasy and 40k.

I play Fantasy and 40k in large part due to the fluff and extensive backstory. LOTR is a little too constrained for my tastes, which might sound odd given the rich history of Tolkien but GW is certainly far more constrained in their expansion of this universe compared to their own creations.

I started out with Haradrim from LOTR and got the point where i was buying things like an oliphaunt (mumuk) and had about 2000points but then switched to 40K because i was the only person i knew who played LOTR and therefore wasn't getting any battles.

Lord of the Rings was my first game, I play as Easterlings. Now I prefer 40k though, it's much, much better. The combat system in LotR is too simplistic, roll off and see who gets highest, what is this? Monopoly?

The LOTR game is what got me into miniature wargaming. I was a huge LOTR fan at the time, and the Mordor Orcs grabbed me.
My younger brother and myself played a ton of games, and albeit, the rules are a bit simplistic, it's a great way to get into the rest
of the Games Workshop stuff. I'm now an avid Imperial Guard player, but I still pick up LOTR models, mainly because they're so much
fun to paint!

LotR and WotR both look great, but I simply don't wish to add to my already copious 20 year backlog of hobby projects from Warhammer.

I think its a bit gimmicy and a bit of a copy, also charactarists like 'defence' and phases like the 'fight phase' and the 'shoot face' make it sound awful and cheesy.

I like the figures and use some of them in my WFB armies, especially the halflings as the WFB halflings were (they're OOP now) total cartoon characters. But, meh. The books and the films are great, but the game...I prefer WFB and 40K. In addition, the whole ministry of GW truth telling us that it is a "Core Game", when some of their specailist games are way better (BB, Mordheim, Gorka Morka(RIP)) is distressing. In Japan, most of the independent retailers don't even carry it, and those that did sold heaps of it for 80% off.

When the license runs out, I'm sure the game will disappear.

I don't even have enough money to buy WH40k pieces, I have no friends who (would) play it, I already have the MTG and WH40k rulesets in my head and many, MANY videogames that I play. Another physical game which requires time and money is not on my to-do list.

Never tried the game before. I have the mumakil model (which I love), and the Balrog, and a few others I liked, but have no interest in playing it. I kind of wish GW would quit giving it any focus, but with the new movie due out in a year or two, they'll probably hold on it at least until then, which I can't blame them for. Also, for all the people who love to play it (none of which I've actually met), I wouldn't want their game to get discontinued. The releases now seem to piggy back on 40k or fantasy ones I've noticed. If they can not impede the main two games, I'm all for them continuing with this line.
