Legendary isnt too many problems, allthough, i played it with all 13 skulls on just to make it amusing, still easy enough to complete like that, but takes a bit longer and you have to watch out at all times.

djphranq: if you need help on legendary i would be happy to help, if you do want help then add either of my gamertags: Deaths croshair (finished it all on legendary a few times) or Zabey Babey (just going through it now)

@JD21290: Thanks for the offer bro. I'm not sure when I'll be on next or when I'm going to try Legendary again. Probably once I get through Heroic. Went back and played a bit of legendary myself last night. Great fun! Though I don't recommend anyone tries to do the last section of Tsavo Highway on foot >_<

Key legendary survival points I realised (to expand on the last ones): NEVER GET SHOT. Seriously, stay in cover all the time. The portable cover equipment becomes very useful on legendary - you can fire bullets through it (but not plasma or rockets), and the AI can't see you behind it.

You and your modern FPS games. Try playing Halo: Combat Evolved on Legendary.

It took me FOREVER. Truth and Reconciliation was ridiculously hard because there were Zealots (gold Elites) everywhere, and Assault on the Control Room took a long, long time. The bit where you reach the stone bridge in front of the temple was really, really hard. I had this perfect plan laid out; run, throw a plasma grenade on the nearest Elite, fire a rocket at the two Jackals, fire the second rocket at the Elite near the Banshee, hop in the Banshee, dive under the bridge, get behind the other Banshee, blast away until it goes down, concentrate the Fuel Rod Cannon on the Wraith, then gun down the Elites in the Ghosts on the ground, fly around the bridge making strafing runs, hop off and knock the Banshee off the bridge, proceed through the facility on foot (it's cheating otherwise), backstab the Stealth Elites, run out into the valley, grab a sniper rifle, get back in the Banshee, fly up onto the bridge, and pick everyone off.

The hard part was getting the grenade on the first Elite without getting whacked by the half-dozen Jackals around the door.

I never managed to complete the first one no legendary. My brother and I got most of the way through it though I think.

Halo is running a challenge (ending tomorrow) called mythic X.

What is it? a simple challenge in which you must complete and you will get entered into a rafffle to win recon armour.

How many sets? i think there are around 25 sets of recon to be given away.

How do i do it? you must complete halo 3 on solo, on mythic difficulty!

What is mythic difficulty? Play the game on legendary, on your own, with all 13 skulls active.

How do i apply? After each mission simply save the game and send the film to bungie, once you have sent in all 9 levels like this you will be entered.

How many people have done this? so far i believe just under 30 have.


Have i done this? Have i feth! its insane, and im stuck on the last level (remember, once you die its back to the start of the mission)




Djphranq: No problems, if you ever need help im allways at hand
Allthough just a warning here, but the cortana level on legendary is pretty hard, and with what seems to be endless enemies.
Tip: sit in a safe point and shoot all enemies to death, you will usually find there is 4-5 waves of enemies per section.

On cortana, it's sometimes better to run than to fight. As in, if you can avoid fighting, you damn well better avoid fighting!

Oh, come on. Flood are piss-weak, ridiculously easy to kill.

Unless you're being a douche and not destroying the bodies or using a mauler/shotgun/plasma rifle/flamerthrower/explosive.

Cheese, have you tried to find enough ammo to make that possible? on legendary its best to run through the level quickly and avoid them.

On mythic difficulty its alot harder, since once you die, its back to the start, once your hurt, you need to beat a flood to death to get life back, less ammo about, list goes on.

Oh, of course you should run on Mythic. Hurr durr.

But on Legendary, I didn't find it hard. Got lucky and managed to scrounge up a gravity hammer and a shotgun nice and early.

Just managed to complete Tsavo highway on legendary. Most of it was ok, but there are some parts which I needed to play through (literally) 30 or so times to get *just* right.

I hate brutes.

Elites were harder than Brutes, IMO. They were much better shots and their shields recharged pretty fast. Their weapons also seem to hurt more than Brute ones, considering most Brute weapons have solid projectiles.

It's the explosive weapons that get me. They are PINPOINT accurate with them. And even if you jump around like crazy, they still manage to hit you in mid air.... what the hell is up with that?

I do! But when you're far away it's harder to get headshots. I think it'd probably take about 20 shots of the battlerifle per brute to kill them if you aren't hitting their head

Silly boy, you should be using carbines and spikers.

Jumping is a pretty bad idea, since you are then on a fairly fixed arc through the air.

Dodge back and forth instead. You should have about half a second (depending on the range you are being shot at from) to get out the way of each shot.

I was under the impression it was a pretty good gun. (at least it seemed that way when i was getting headshots, especially on those damn jackals w/ sniper rifles)

Ok, so I'll try carbines and spikers

It's good, but on Legendary I prefer the carbine because it's easier to control your shots and it's more effective against shields and power armour.

Bruteshots arent a problem, a simple BR weave and some accurate shooting makes them easy work.

Cheese, the BR has alot moer strengths and accuracy than the carbine, hence why its a prefered weapons among top gamers.
It also has a good spread on each burst, allowing you to do alot of damage quickly.

spikers are newb weps, and thats just to put it simple.
2 of them are fine at very close range, but at anything further than 20 yards they are junk and easily avoided.

Needlers against brutes are a nice weapon, due to auto aiming and explosive damage.

Just a tip on jumping: when you jump, crouch at the same time.
You see nothing different, but whoever is shooting you has alot harder time trying to hit you as it makes you alot smaller in mid air. (to do this well use the bumper jumper button config)

I think the most annoying thing (and whats killed me the most) while playing on mythic diff. was grunts
seems silly right? all red grunts, 3 headshots to kill them, alot better armour, usually with plasma or needlers. Still not bad?
Tough luck skull means they will jump out the way of most weapons.
Catch skull means they do nothing but throw plasmas.
now, in groups of 4-5 they are a pain in small areas as you just get peppered with plasmas.

The carbine does greater damage/shot, but if you get all 3 shots from a burst of the BR on target, that does more damage than the single carbine shot.

However, I find they move before all 3 hit them...

Silver, thats where guessing to the extreme comes in

campaign: All enemies have thier own movement pattern, learn it and its easy to know what they will do.

Matchmaking: Even easier really, depedning on the playlist it will differ alot though.
MLG, SWAT - people will jump more often than any other playlist to avoid being shot, simply aim a few feet above them and laugh as they jump into it.
Slayer game types - Easiest possible one here, people rarely move out of the way, or at best they move from side to side, allowing easy shots once again.

In terms of damage / time of BR VS carbine:

While going on bodyshots the carbine wins just a bit.
In terms of headshots the BR actually wins very easily, each burst from the BR hitting someones head gains a small bunus that drags it up to each burst being the same strength as 5 carbine shots! somewhat amazing, but this is why people love BR's, and also why some will cry about them, being "power weapons" and wanting AR spawns instead

Yeah, I've noticed brutes will duck their head down and take a step to the side most of the time when they get shot.

As for matchmaking, I am trying to force myself to train up on the BR. Certainly a lot better than I used to be.

I have found that my accuracy on PC with the mouse has still to translate into accuracy with the control sticks on my 360 (even after several years ). But practice makes perfect and I am a lot better than I used to be.

lol, if you need some easy practice then play some social slayer for a while, once your having no problems beating people using a BR move onto SWAT.
With 1 headshot kills in SWAT and a BR being one of the only weapons its great for training up reaction timing (allthough it is somewhat stressful)

after that give MLG a go and put what you have learned to the test.



Also, quick tip on easy kills with a BR: drop a frag infront of a person if they started shooting 1st, then follow up by a single burst to the head.
In social it takes 6-7 bursts to kill (headshots)
this gives you more than enough time (keep moving and dont stand still) to drop a nade and fire.

I am hitting a barrier at getting past skill level 35/36 on lone wolf, so I have been playing other games to try and sharpen up my BR skills.

I have noticed now that I am doing quite will with the BR, being able to take people out before they kill me most of the time.

Might switch to SWAT now that you mention it.

What is the difference with MLG by the way?

Then its well worth trying out another gametype

I rarely get "out BR'ed" as the term goes, but this is due to me using it alot, i prefer it to pretty much any weapon (other than sniper)

SWAT is great for reactions, allthough, bad connection leads to alot of people getting pissed off



MLG is quite different, and alot more competative:

Shields - You start with less shields, and they recharge slower.
Movement - your movement speed is increaced.
Weapons - power weapons have been removed, leaving more basic weapons.
Things like rocket launchers have alot less ammo from spawn, things like shotguns and swords have been removed. (grenades are in place of thier spawn)

All in all its a much faster paced game, with a single BR burst meaning life or death if your not careful.

also, it has varied gametypes.

MLG ball - Odball, funnily enough
MLG flag - once again, speaks for its self.
MLG slayer - say no more


Also, you may notice alot of different maps in MLG.
These are mainly sandbox / foundry variants, but still a simple design.

Just completed the campaign on legendary, got all 13 skulls and all terminals.

I'm quite pleased with myself now. All that's left is mythic difficulty. Though, I'm not sure I can be bothered if i'm not going to get recon armour :(

Argh... my eyes hurt...

Don't bother doing excruciatingly hard tasks just for recon...wait until ODST, then do some slightly less excruciatingly hard tasks for it! (That said, the Annual achievement is a lot of fun)
