Exactly.
These are the units you want in a competitive DE army.

A Succubus that carries the Goblet of Spite, any models in the same unit as the Succubus and any enemy
units with a model in base contact with the Succubus and/or his unit will always hit on a 3+ in hand to hand
combat, regardless of other factors.

unit in hand to hand.....since tehy don't specify what hand to hand is I'd say and assualt

Then the enemy, a stupid Tau, SM, or Necron player, sorry, will target the Grotesques by her standard rapid fire weapons (bolters, etc.).
The Grotesques don't care about this shooting and will charge the enemy next turn.

grotesques would die to the explosion they don't have an armor save..... also explosion isn't enemy fire so their special feel no pain doesn't count

Ravagers are an amazing tank. 120 points for 3 plasma cannons? yes please!... plus, remember the secondary fire mode, so you can move 12 and still fire all your weapons. Nice.

I'd never use Grotesques, but they have 2 wounds each (i think), so they would survive.

140, since you can't leave home without a Night Shield! One of the best pieces of wargear in the game.
"Oh, is that a regular meltagun? Sorry, but you're going to have to be in base contact in order to get your extra 2d6" (not like str 8 vs armor 11 is that hard in the first place...)

Well, I'm not sure about the Goblet of Spite, since I don't have the codex with me.
What I learned about the GoS (when I learned to play DE) is that it is a piece of wargear that is not a must-have.

Eliminate mobility with Dark Lances

Soften their lines with Disintegrators

Strike fast and hard with high initiative close combat and power weapons.

westenfux- the GoS used to not be as good because it helped the enemy hit you on 3+ as well. Now, with the new FaQ in the rulebook, any wargear that does not specifically state that it affects 'enemies' will only affect your own army. Now the GoS is a great upgrade for the wych squad... and very useful when you dogpile various units into the same combat .

D6+1 S7 WS5 no armor saves allowed attacks on a charge with +1 for every attack after penetrating hits, from a Fearless skimmer is good against most enemies.

But I'd keep shooting for troops, assault 6 S4 AP5 shots at the closest models should mow them down if your lucky.

If you have the points, you may as well throw in a Xenospasm on your HQ....S3 AP3 isn't a game winner, but when it's pretty much an Auto-hit blast template, at least 1 or 2 Marines are going down.

Your Talos can be an amazing fire magnet. T7 can soak up a ridiculous amount of firepower.

Agreed. Add plasma grenades.
For agonizer, take 2 drugs all the time: +1 A and reroll to hit.
For punisher, take 2-3 drugs: +1 A, reroll to hit, and +1 S.
For a lone Archon the 12'' charge range might bring her straight into cc.

Taloi are mean in cc.
But they compete with Ravager that are too good to be left home.

The best tactic is to drop the army and switch to a new one.

Even though the eldar are the most technologically advanced race in the universe, some how the still lose.

IG are the bane of DE. DE are amazing at annihilating MEQ armies though.

More Splinter Cannons and Shredders. They hose IG like you wouldn't believe. People don't play with them because they suck vs. MEQ armies. Keep some Dark Lances though, for poppin tanks.

Get Lelith a retinue of wyches and select the 12" charge combat drug for the squad, give the Succubus an Agoniser and then you have 8 Wyches, the succubus, and Lelith moving in the Raider 12", deploying 2" fleeting, and then assaulting 12" Thats a unit with an assault range of 27"-32" with 9 power weapon attacks on the charge and another 24 regular attacks, all at I6 or better all for less then 350 points (including an upraded raider and things like plama grenades, blasters, and wych weapons.)

No incubi is fine when you have another 40 wyches charging in the next turn (or same turn depending on the combat drugs you roll). Something I've noticed with Dark Eldar wych cults is the key to victory is all out assaults. Using dark lances and blasters to open up transports followed by getting wyches into assaults means that the only way to kill the wyches is to get by their 4+ invu save.

One of the craziest things I've ever seen was an IG blob squad get charged by 30 wyches on the first turn of the game. The charge killed something like 25 of the 40 man squad before they could even take a swing back.

Dark lances and blasters are alright. If they were AP1 they would be a lot better. The few times I've seen Dark Eldar in action it has been "Use the dark lances to shake/stun the vehicles and then kill all the infantry."

The problem comes when facing IG mech spam, as a dark lance is no more effective against a 55 point chimera then it is against a 250 point Land raider. However, most Dark Eldar amies in the 1750-2000 point range should have 20 or more Dark Lances/Blasters so hopefuly you should be able to stop any threat before it gets too close.

However, bs4 without any rerolls or Ap1 comming from AR10 open topped raiders can get killed pretty quickly if you have a bad shooting phase.

Dark Eldar Pros-
Dark lances/blasters a plenty
high int units
fast skimmer transports
some unique special equipment
Agonizer's are better then power weapons
access to wyches & incubi (both are great close combat units!)

Dark Eldar Cons:
transports are AV 10 & open tooped
Basic troops have a 5+ save (or 6+ for wych cult that turns into a 4+ invu in close combat)
Limited psychic defense
most of the best gear (shadow field generator) can only be taken once per army.
no access to melta or AP1 weapons
Low leadership (and you'll be taking lots of tests as the raiders get shot down)
Still S3 & T3 for almost every unit.

Like most armies, Dark Eldar require a little bit of luck to function correctly.
