You still have to get past the huge flared legs and feet which are going to look clumsy on any mount in my opinion.

I agree that it is a re-donk-ulous model.

The Space Wolfs obviously have a Clan Moulder franchise on Fenris.

So I still can't have my boar boyz and cyboar nobz back that they trashed out of the orc dex after 2nd ed., but the space puppies get power armor on wolves????? What the heck gives. Though that mini doesn't really look much better then my old orcs from what I can see of it. Wolf packs make sense. Wolf pets as wargear like the old chaos hounds could be for last edition chaos marines, cool. Units on bikes, ok, but I just think this is one for the 'Doh!' club, the what was I drinking when I wrote that into the codex moment. Someone quick get the bugman's XXX off the writers!

On the plus-side, It'll now be possible to win a battle against SW by simply throwing a red squeaky ball into their ranks.

Seriously man - that thing looks like a fething Alsatian.

Yeah, but they'll all be S3 - it'll be the SW equivalent of the IG's Punisher.

I love the concept AND the model.

Fenrisian wolves can be almost as big as Rhino APC. It's more like a marine riding a bear (or furry tractor as in Anchorman). But, you still have the issue of a 500lb animal carrying a 300-400lb marine.

As a SW player, I feel somewhat ashamed of the whole concept. Maybe if they were wearing scout armor and carrying lances and spears, it'd be a little more reasonable.

But, I will say, if the unit kicks major butt, I don't care how ridiculous they are, I'm spamming the unit!

Big chested broad shouldered super humans with flared legs might look good in dynamic poses, but standing still (if you've noticed the static marines they have now, such as sicarius, master of the blank etc. are covered in robes) and sitting down? Looks silly in my opinion.

I agree, marines do need something different, and at least they are trying. I don't think this was it though.

In the Rogue Trader years you could get Chaos Space marines on horseback and they made the models for it too!

Terminator BE the bike

Sounds like POWER FEET.

Anyways, the idea isn't that stupid, I mean, the Imperial guard is still using horse cavalry (only no one who models them uses them as such, most of the time I see rough riders on bikes, so, you could probably get away with mounting these wolf riders on bikes as well)

Talking about this seriously though...how does a flimsy motorcycle hold up a space marine either?

Look at the tiny wheels though! Has future tire technology progressed that far? If a space marine biker can not blow his tires out, then a Space Wolf can ride a Fenrisian wolf!

Who are we to judge where future tire technology will have prgressed to in the year 40,000? Sap form a Cathchan tree? Crafted lovingly from the hide of a Alpha Centurion Rubber mole? Advanced polymer technology rediscovered by the adeptus mechanicus, its the future anything is possible.

I don’t see a problem with Marines Riding Wolves. Just look at ants they can lift weight 10 or more times their own body weight, So why not zonking big wolves form Space its sci-fi different from Terran evolution. It’s muscles may have a different composition, its bones may be denser or stronger, their diet of failed Prospective GM humans may be advancing their growth (like steroids in cattle today) further than their original biological make up. There are so many reasons as to why it is plausible it’s the future and sci-fi, what we know of science today need not apply.

Wolves are not pack animals. The spines of predators are designed for mobility and speed, not carrying 300 lb men wearing 300 lbs. of armor. The idea of marines riding any animal is stupid. Guardsman don't wear 300 lbs. of armor and horses have broad backs capable of bearing a heavy burden. This wolf thing is by far the dumbest idea GW ever came up with.

Absolutely right. That's what I'm being told when I make jokes about riding big dogs, like Newfoundlanders and the like. It's probably possible for a two year old, but only for a short time. A dog's spine just isn't made that way. Of course, who knows what evolution will do to wolves over the course of forty thousand years, but I think the "predator = sleek" concept won't be discarded that easily. Even if you take a bulky predator like a bear, they'd have to be of an immense size to carry such a heavy weight. Their physiology is totally different from ants! Well, Space Ant marines riding giant ants - that'd be defendable, but a wolf...
