Sorry for the delay in posting vbut my computer decided to have its monthly hissy fit and refuse to behave.

Back online now and have a few in progress pics of the Heavy crewman/contraption kicker.

Colours are a little off in a couple of the pics, but you get the idea.

Great job with the camo on the fatigues!

It gives a really brilliant effect when a squad is put together. Will you carry this pattern over to the armour?

I think its one of the heads from the Empire Handgunner set. I might be wrong though.

Really nice looking models. They are coming along nicely. All the colours are so clean. I envy this greatness.

No idea what to do with the armour, need to finish a lot more troops and a couple of commissions before i have the time and money.
Plus, im not sure if it would carry over... what do you think?

If you look at Modern day warfare, tanks are never camouflaged as intricately as their crews and other troops. However, in the case of 'Eavy Metal's Cadians, it seems to be the other way around. I mean, what's the point of trying to "camouflage" a great big noisy machine? Having said that, I love the way that camouflage looks on tanks, and would do so if I were painting my own IG army.

Wow, that looks fantastic. I must admit, I was a little unsure of those weapon platforms initially, but they look great painted. Kudos on the speed of your painting as well as the quality of it!

EDIT:

Just looked at your blog thing and saw your space wolves army - I bid on that on ebay but didn't get it!

The point of camouflaging tanks is to break up their outline, making it harder to pick out primary weak spots in the armour. Also it makes identification from the air harder.

Done some work on the weapon options, but nothing too interesting to post of them here yet.

I did however try a new base prototype, went for an urban with a sprinkling of snow.

I think they look ok but im not overly enamored with them. What do you guys and gals think?

Kind of cool, but the snow looks a little bit funny IMO. The ones in the middle are from Darkart miniatures aren't they?

no, made them last night. the snow will look a little different once it dries. I didn't want to go mad with snow but it does look a little sparse.

Sometimes sparse adds realism .

For example he might have shoveled them when he wasnt busy ( thus the unmelted ones are the more compacted snow aka the ones he walked around on )

It looks good, however, in an urban environment that small amount of snow should look grey, grimy and compacted.

Didn't have time to take a pic before coming to work, but it has dried to look more like grey slush.

I also have some texture paste i got in a basing kit that looks like slush that is really dirty, I'm thinking of using it along the curb/gutter so it looks the snow you get after a day of traffic getting it grimey and pushing it over.

This is only a mock up, so i may even go in a completely different direction.

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

Ya know, the guys I play with tell me I have a nicely painted IG force, then I see stuff like this, look back at mine, and almost just give up all together. Great stuff man, great stuff.

If you need me, I'll be busy wiping the layers of dust off my dice.

Ok, had a play about with the snow/street base for the heavy but still don't like it.

I also made up three infantry bases too.

I quite like the bases plain and may leave the snow off all together, what do you folks think?

Until next time....

The current urban bases you made are detailed enough to not need any snow.

You can leave them off if you dont like how they look .

Finished the second squad of the first platoon, and have started on the command squad.

First up is the Jnr. Officer

Still some work to do on him but, he is coming on nicely.

The chap i painted with the heavy weapon has been relocated to the command squad and i will make up the others once my banner arm arrives from Bitsandkits ;o)

will try and post a bit more often over the coming weeks, I have been snowed under with problems at work, commissions and to top it off my car has decided to die on me ;o(

But hey ho! its off painting i go!
