Hello folks, been working on my imperial guard army and thought i would post on here to see what y'all think.

No fluff, no army list and no name yet, i will worry about that later (280 troops later!).

Will update on here as i go, but i you want to see some of the WIP have a look at my blog, it has all the progress to date and will be updated a bit more often (or at least first )

Eldred, I tried to comment on your blog, but you have it set that only followers can comment. I would strongly suggest that you change this. There really is no reason to restrict people from commenting, IMO. Unless you're a highly trafficked site, you're not going to receive any spam, and it would be simple enough to delete even if you did.

That being said, I really like your scheme: very distinctive and cleanly applied. Would love to see some vehicles in the near future.

All can post on blog now, was messing around with settings last night.

Thanks for all the encouragement guys, will be sure to try and get them done this millennium

as for a group shot, once i get this squad done i can take a picture of a load of boxes if you really want?!? hehe, will have to dig them out of the cupboard under the stairs.
I make a box at a time at most and then paint, otherwise i think i will never be able to raise a brush in the face of so many un painted models!

His current avatar is his old IG colour scheme. I remember EJ saying so in the IG show off thread.

not really much of a conversion on the las guns, just the muzzle and bayonet mount removed but i like them.

the chap in my avatar was part of my last abortive attempt at getting this guard army up and shooting, as was the plasma gunner.

I took alot of time converting and individualising 20-30 troops last time and they will all slowly be transferred over to their new regiment.

as a treat, when i finish this squad, i will do a heavy team before moving on to the next squad i think.

anyway, enough rambling im off to finish the last couple of minis.

Finally finished the 1st squad!

woo and indeed hoo!

although looking at the pics as i put them on here, i realise i forgot one chap's face but that will take seconds to resolve once i finish here.

Will try to take a better picture tomorrow when there is better light, but i am pretty happy with them ;o)

I am still trying to decide on whether or not to make or but my own bases but since my hobby fund is dry, i imaging i will make my own up. It would help if i could make up my mind on WHAT i actually want on the bases too i suppose ;o)

May go city fight or even just plain sand.

Next up is my 1st heavy weapon team which is a nice break from the squaddies. I don't have any pics at the moment but will dig out what i had been working on and take the snaps shortly.

Cheers for stopping by,

EJ/Apoc

Here is what i am thinking of doing for my heavies:

Crazy flaming head guy is for scale, plus he looks damn cool!

will magnetize the weapons so they can be swapped out, but the big problem i will have is getting tracks for them as Bitzbox and BitsandKits have been out of stock for yonks

What do you guys think? shall i do these for all my heavy teams or should i just use normal set using cities of death bits for cover and etc... ?

That gun does look cool, man. However, if it's not easy for you to do them, don't. Personally, I love the way that IG heavy squads look like. Plus it's way more practical the usual way (in "reality" and for yourself).

Coming to the bases, I've got a thing that I do at the moment to make Urban Bases...

1. Take a normal base.
2. Using a sanding block and fine sand paper, smooth it down.
3. Using a Razor Saw, cut lines into the base (be that one, two or three lines) and make sure that, if more than one, they meet at right angles.
4. Glue small areas of sand onto it at random places.
5. Paint them! (I personally attach the models after, though.)

Okay - glad to hear he's just for scale - I was a little unsure of what a guy like that had to do with a heavy weapon...not to mention a heavy weapon in a loyalist army...

I'm a big fan of the tracked heavies - I don't think this sort of thing is done nearly often enough. That said, I think you could actually scale down the body and treads. Right now, it looks like could carry something much larger than just the AC mounted there.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

I'm not a big fan of the heavies, it looks too much Space Marine, IMHO. It's a very good idea, though.
I do like the Guardsman carrying the demolitions. Might steal the idea.
