Thanks everyone. This is fair zipping along now.
Everything is has been basecoated and highlighted a few times and it looks pretty good to me.
I would be happy to game with the terrain at this stage but I still fancy doing all of the wet effects, veins and
bringing out a few of the individual components/pods sacs etc in a few muted colours.
Onto the pics and keep the comments coming, they really do help!

Brilliant. The expanding foam and paintjob really unite all those different textures well.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Would be gorgous to have a game on a table decorated with those!

When you call an intimate moment with your partner "the Assault Phase"

Is that followed by a pile-in move?

That brings a whole new meaning to the term "Hit and Run"

Can that be following a deep strike, or do you have to wait until the next round?

By the looks of your stuff so far, the final painting touches are going to be gorgeous. You mention using small pools of water effects/varnish, but are you only using that for pools in the craters? With everything being so... alive and gross, I think you could get a great effect with an overall matte varnish followed by selective gloss varnishing for that nasty wet look. It would really stress the dangerous, gross, active parts amidst the general mounds of biological ickiness. It would also make those blobs you plan to pick out pop, even in a muted palette. Looking at the shapes now, I feel like some of it should look like a dusty mushroom and some of it like a weeping boil. Just a thought, in case you haven't already had it.

Thanks guys,
@oadie: yeah, that's the plan, I will be making the darkest recesses and any smaller puddles/pockets different colours, depths and levels of gloss as well as general colourisation and freehanding veins, mottleing etc.
I'll be using a combination of techniques from varnish to mixing paints and inks with wet effects glues and resins. Semi opaque white looks good at the moment.
This is all going to take somewhat longer so updates will be spaced a bit further apart than they have been.
Thanks again!

I don't mind you digging this back up one bit! I'm kinda proud of how it turned out and it does seem fairly relevant at the moment so don't mind showing it off!
I'm glad you like it.

Rise from the dead!!!!!
So firstly apologies if you've already seen these but i've done a load more and this seemed like the best place to put them................sorry.

Here's my newest project, i've been working on a load more of this stuff both for Apocalypse and a campaign that i've been working on.
Link to the campaign is here... http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/537842.page
The new additions are a few small city pieces that should work with my Cities of Death stuff to produce an pretty decent infested imperial city table.
Also new are some of the larger pieces for Apocalypse that we should soon get a game of (i'm going to need somewhere to hide the Hierophant and Hierodules ) and some more of the standard bits and pieces for some variation.
Here's a few lnks to our earlier works.................

These look great, it's the best Nid terrain I've seen and you've tons of it now, enough for Apoc for defs. Mangroves are a great idea and very effective.

Cheers man, I think I saw something like the mangroves in a corner of a codex tyranid pic back in the day. I had no idea how i'd make them though?
I've been spending a little more time in petshops lately due to a certain four legged hellbeast (Who is 1 year old today, Happy Birthday Grace!) and saw some on a sale shelf.
Snapped them up and the rest is history.
They definately add a little more, much needed, height to the table which is kinda handy given the big toys coming out and with these pesky flyers everywhere.
Glad you like them.
