Loving this idea of yours very much! And my suggestion for the demon prince and his hand is either a 40oz bottle (got the have fun while listening to your favorite tunes and all), or with how the arms already positioned, have him holding a boom box to his shoulder ala 80's style while would be quite amusing I think. Hope these ideas help and I'm looking forward to see more progress.

@ Llamahead - I suppose if it were FAB anything, it'd have to be 3 (I suppose we have to count the Ford FAB they made for the film)... and I'm not entirely sure I could see Parker and Penelope in a monster truck XD

@ Dreadnote - That would be the Sheffield branch... small world.

@ lowkey48 - Another good idea... I'm not sure what you mean by '40oz bottle' though, a bottle of beer, perhaps? Speaking of boom boxes, Boom Box might be updated in a little while, I'm just on the home straight with the painting (I know, I keep strange hours).

This week has proven successful on the miniature front, especially so for my Slaanesh Cult of Noise. I've finished and named the Rolls Royce monster truck, I've called it High Roller since that amused me. Quite pleased with how it turned out, actually.

Then there's the Boom Box, a converted miniature with possibly the fastest turn around from purchase to varnish for me. It's not perfect but I'm not too worried since I'm not entering it into a painting competition. There's a few bits I would have liked to do better but due to it being second-hand and glued rather well I didn't have much choice about those spots. I am pleased with the speakers and the rust, up until now I've had trouble getting rust to look how I want but this is just the right amount I think.

Finally, because someone asked for it (I forget who it was, sorry!) a group shot of what I've finished so far. Not much completed yet, plenty of in progress stuff, but here is Boom Box, High Roller and The Hot Box, it's like some sort of family portrait gone horribly wrong.

Don't know what I'm working on next, you'll just have to wait and see...

Awesome. I love this motor-pool! The way you cropped the interior pics of the boombox, I was surprised how roomy it is in there... Then I figured it out, those support beams in the middle aren't support beams, but the sides of the thing

I didn't notice how the interior shots look until you pointed it out... Am just wondering which thing to work on next now, I'm just not feeling the love for modelling putty right now and everything for the Cult needs it >.>

Seen a few Noise Marines about the site but I have to say that I've been disappointed with how bland they appear apart from one or two examples. I've always liked the story of Noise Marines and how their world must become louder and more of a cacophony of visual and audio input expressed most of all with their armour. Of course, I'm also fond of the sonic weaponry and the chance to have Glam Punk miniatures.

This one is a work in progress, having a bit of a think before doing the rest of him. The skull will be black with flames and to do that I do a yellow-to-red fade over the entire thing and then trim it back to get the flames with black afterwards which gives a smooth colour fade and nice crisp flames for minimal effort. His right thigh is tiger print while the left is zebra print, his gauntlet will probably be leopard print... animal prints and Noise Marines go together like ham and cheese.

Enough babble, here's the picture.

Remember this?

I did some work on it.

Still lots to do. I think I'd like to stick to the Rat Rod look it's got going rather than smoothing out all the lumps and bumps but I'm not sure if that's because of the aesthetic of scavenged luxury I'm going for or if it's because I hate doing fiddly model filling... it's probably a bit of both. I'm much happier with the proportions and the rake of the body not to mention that new massive Y-block engine. The driver needs the most work, though you can't tell from these pictures, since he's three different miniatures chopped about to make one. This will be a mostly black hearse when I get to the painting phase with hints of the Cult's powder blue and baby pink.

Anyway, let me know what you think of this, I didn't expect to be updating again so soon after the Noise Marine. I enjoy reading your feedback!

I'm one of those painters that flits from model to model, I rarely start and finish one miniature without getting distracted (in part because I've got too much stuff). Tonight I picked up a Dragon Ogre, one of the old metal ones, and started repainting him to be a Slaanesh Dragon Ogre because my brain went "These would make awesome Ogryns!".

I'm creating this army to be aesthetically satisfying as my vision of an aspect of the followers of Slaanesh and while I'm haphazardly refining the concept, I do feel like it's distilling into something cohesive as I go along. I'm trying to make as many of the vehicles as possible have sonic weaponry (things like Boom Box and the Hot Rod Hearse are good examples) and to have a fair contingency of Cultists. The whole force sits somewhere between Traitor Guard (cultists and other foot troops) and Chaos-ified Orks (customised vehicles) in appearance and I'm cool with that. As previously stated, this is a relatively new uprising, still raking together resources from whatever they can get hold of. Those things they do press into service are customised in peculiar ways and elborately decorated rather than starting life as pristine examples of Slaaneshi beauty purely out of necessity.

So... in short I plan this and wondered what you thought of substitutions (shown in italics):

x1 Greater Daemon of Slaanesh (got the old one, needs a repaint)
x2 Daemon Princes (got one, repainting currently)
x2 Rogue Pskyers (from Forge World, do want)
x1 ~ 10 man Tactical Squad of Chaos Space Marines standard space marines with bits added
x1 ~ 10 man squad of Noise Marines using old metal ones, not new plastic ones
x1 ~ 4-5 man squad of Ogryns Dragon Ogres
x1 ~ 1-3 10 man squads of Cultist infantry Light Squad = converted Uruk-hai ~ Average Squad = Imperial Guard, poss. Catachans ~ Heavy Squad = Necromunda Goliaths
x3 ~ Rhino variants, of which 1 Boom Box, 1 Exorcist conversion (standard pipe organ, Slaaneshi armour plates from Forge World)
x2 ~ Light transport pleasure palanquin DAF truck conversion, The Suppressor
x1 ~ 5 vehicle Buggy squad The Hot Box and High Roller are the first two I've done
x1 ~ 5 vehicle Bike squad the Chopper is the first of these, all Bikes to be conversions

I want to keep all the vehicles small to reflect the urban nature of the Cult. Most normally, I envision the Cult performing skirmish raids on other territories and it's only recently that they've got the resources to begin larger assaults from wherever it is they're based. This would be an incredibly difficult army to play, most of it is lightly armoured and lightly armed, but fast (not as fast as Eldar, though). Is there an option for suicide troops? That would be awesome.

You can find pictures of the named vehicles mentioned above in this thread or over in my gallery, just click on my name.
