Right, rather than have a bunch of topics all over the place, lets put my progress into this one since I seem to be firmly entrenched in creating insane vehicles for my Slaanesh army using just what's in the bits box.

I image you've all seen the Noise Marine Hot Rod Hearse I'm working on over here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/262940.page

But you won't have seen this new construction, the Monster Trike.

*images removed by owner*

Unlike the Hearse, the Trike needs a lot of modelling to get it looking something like. I've got a V8 engine from a larger kit I'm toying with wrapping around the bike engine, but we'll see what happens with that idea, and I need to modify a gun for the gunner.

Chopper Bike which is a heavily converted Space Marine bike with extended forks. The rider is in bits at the moment which is why he's not there.

Your outside it, stamping on it and eating it, this stuff is awesome! It's also insane but in my world and others that means awesome! I really like the hearse but the beetle looks a bit orky actually... something they might make indeed....

Started this one ages ago and finished it off today. It's not supposed to be serious. Imagine, if you will, this little 2CV crammed with cultists, the lakes pipes (exhausts on the sides) blasting out an insane amount of noise and the meltagun haphazardly blasting holes in things and people. Should be fun.

My Slaanesh army now has a definite theme, they're an urban cult of noise, so there'll be lots of classic hot rod and rock influence going into the stuff I design for them. Should be a lot of fun.

Very nice! Guess who I'm imagining inside that? Madness! Playing House of Fun for some reason but they are a cult of... noise? Excellent idea though, very original, keep up the great converting and paintwork!

Inspired in no small part by Carmaggedon (I love that series ^_^) I bring you the first stage of The Suppressor, an urban crowd containment unit. Originally a police vehicle, it's been commandeered and now serves as a tank and troop transport.

front view

top view

rear view

There's still work to be done, obviously, like the rest of the vehicles (I've been doing some work on them, just not enough to update you with). The turret on the roof is fully functional but not fitted and will lose the ugly guns in favour of a big old bolter I've got. The original toy was turned around so that The Suppressor has twin front axles and a pick-up bed. I might keep the Toyota on the windscreen visor (a spoiler from a different toy) for gaks and giggles. I'm planning to put some spikes in the tyre holes, I'll probably sculpt those unless I find an easier way.

I'm still in two minds about cutting out the windscreen blank and fitting an interior, what do you think? There's plenty of space to add it, after all.

Still to source are some massive exhausts to stick to the theme of the Cult of Noise and a few nicknacks to dress it up a little. Oh, and as for size, it's about the size of a Rhino, but a bit narrower and longer.

A little fluff, since I've been thinking of a reason for all this nonsense and it's fun. A couple of drop pods of the Emperor's finest are deployed to deal with a little bit of an uprising on the borders. Turns out the little bit of an uprising is an industrial planet that's fallen to Slaanesh. One thing leads to another and those Space Marines who aren't killed, fall to the chaos god, turning to the worship of noise as the rest of the planet has. A few Noise Marines are already on the planet, possibly the reason behind the uprising in the first place.

The core of the small army will be a couple of units of tactical marines, converted from Catachan and Space Marine parts but without the usual spikes and embellishments of Chaos since these are only newly fallen. The main force will be a combination of Imperial Guard and Necromunda-style gangers. Hasslefree do a terrific range of people in suits and a few punks, they also do some neat Judge Dredd-esque models which would be ideal for the planet's fallen police force.

So the overall look will be that of a complete rabble, with people weilding bats and bolters dressed in suits, boots, power armour and whatever else comes to hand. Of course, I also have the tactical advantage of a pink army, nobody ever takes pink armies seriously, which always amuses me when you run over their guys.

I'll be posting up whatever infantry I do as I do it.

Done some sculpting on this, filling in a few gaps, namely the massive one on the back end. I decided not to go with the big V8 engine, it looked too clumsy, so I'll save that for something else. The whole model has been given a plain white undercoat so that I can see what I'm doing and it's served to highlight a few things I had missed.

I've got a whole bunch of things I have to do:

Driver (with the sword, drives with a joystick) needs some reconstructive surgery to his face and armour.
Gunner needs some smoothing between the gun and body and a bit of sculpting to form a gun mount proper.
Rear end needs some more filling and smoothing, probably going to extend the chaos sheild that forms the top of the bodywork and pull the rear arch out into the point the rear light sits on.
Join between bike and seats needs more filling and smoothing, but the basic structure and outline is there to do it. Will make a smoother line of fairing eventually that runs from the grille to the footplate.
Front mounted scythe needs removing and reattaching straight.
Front grille I'm undecided about. I'm tempted to try and sculpt a good old Noise Marine style speaker-face but I'm not sure how difficult that would be.

I'm sure there's more stuff to do on this, it's proving to be quite a challenging model for me. This thing is pretty heavy too, what with the old lead seat and crew and the massive amounts of modelling putty going into it. Still... it's fun.

It looks wierd, but it works.
You have any plans to do something to cover up the foot area where the original biker would have sat?

Maybe some gear/tools/pack to cover that up?

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Just so you all know, I've not abandoned this project I've just not photographed anything lately. Been a bit snowed under with other work, but I'm still poking at the Force as and when I can.

@ Sanctjud - Not sure what I'm doing with those footplates, I suspect I'll try and do something creative with the modelling putty to make it look more like faring and less like footplates. Not found anything useful in the bits box, annoyingly.

With a quick glance I couldn't find it, if you've already said... where did the grill and headlights bit on the trike come from?

These vehicles are awesome! Have you done any infantry yet?

The grille and headlights on the trike are a one piece item from a similar scale plastic kit for an army truck. I forget the specifics, but you get a WWII army truck and an American Jeep in the box. Got lots of useful bits from the box set for use on other things.

Infantry is in progress, I'm still trying to put together something I'm happy with.

There, got the bike finished. I've got to paint the base and the rider, but the biggest part of it is now, happily, done. Annoyingly, the blue irridescence doesn't show up in the photograph because for some reason when I resized it from full photograph size to web-size the subtle hints of metallic blue just vanished. Going to have to investigate photographing in different light to see if I can cure this issue. Missing a big bit of scrap in the gap in the middle of the base at the moment while I paint it separately to make life easier.

Will update again when the rider and base are done and this will then be a completed miniature. Hopefully it was worth the wait to see it thus far.

That looks great! I like your solution for base size issues.

I was thinking about buying the only 1:50 (or 1:48) scale kit in my local shop the other day... I think I'll give it a second look. Thanks for the tip.

Right... this is definitely going to be a love-hate model for some of you I think. I took a couple of old Matchbox toy cars I had kicking around that were in bad condition (the Rolls Royce was missing windscreen, boot and folded roof and both axles were bent to buggery while the monster truck was knocked about a lot but intact) and decided to turn them into another lightweight vehicle for my Cult of Noise. Got to mount some weapons and do some filling, but I was very pleased with how well these two spliced together.

Boring fact: older Matchbox cars are made out of much milder, kinder-to-your-grinder-discs, metal than new ones.

As soon as I've finished the modelling work I can get on with paint which for once I have a clear idea of. Oh, and the picture is black and white so it's easier to see the details since the whole thing is in patchy colours of different types.

My favoured painted brush exploded tonight just as I was on the last run with the Monster Truck (needs a name, suggestions?) so it's not quite done, but really close.

So, while I was sat twiddling my thumbs because it's too late to go buy another brush, I thought I might as well catalogue the rest of the army so far. I'm a bit heavy on vehicles at the moment but I'm scouting out for suitable infantry tomorrow when I grab a new brush.

There's the usual stuff, like the two noise marines I got off eBay for less than I should judging by the other prices. I need to strip the paint off and redo them, but that's fine.

Then there's the squad of 8 Marines (may trim this to 7) who have fallen to Slaanesh after being dispatched by the Imperium to get the Cult under control. Not decided upon their original Chapter or what I'm doing to them yet beyond possibly giving them bare arms... this is very vague.

I've also got a Daemon Prince to repaint. The current attempt is several years old now from when this model was brand new. I always think he should have something in that raised fist, but what? Suggestions welcome.

Finally, the Slaanesh Pleasure Palanquin. Mind you, at the moment it looks like an old DAF truck with crap stuck on. Plans are to widen the flat bed and add skirting on the back of some sort. I've got a canopy I can trim to fit. I'm planning to make this a lightly armed troop transport but feel I lack direction with it, so again, suggestions are welcome.

Finally, a note on the vehicles used. Most GW stuff is scaled up to a massive size, but the emphasis with this army was to have a group of civilians turned military, comandeering and pressing into service normal vehicles to do battle and conjuring up some absurd concoctions along the way (see the Monster Trike and Hot Rod Hearse for examples of that) to serve Slaanesh in whatever way is deemed fit. Not taking this whole thing too seriously, rather I'm letting my imagination have a play. I'll worry about rules later.

Great, fun stuff on here. I'm not sure why but the idea of urban Noise Marines just puts me in mind of an old barried up Vauxhall nova with the badges and door handles taken off, a bean can zorst and a huge pair of by nines on the back passenger shelf. A burberry wearing driver with plenty of cheap gold looking chains would be the perfect cultist to drive it.

Lovely conversions, and great painting! If you want somethin in the daemon princes' hand, I'd suggest either a guitar, or drumsticks (the pose screams drumsticks to me, but then I'd add some in both hands and remove the axe). of course, then you'll have to tie in the base as well, with an amplifier or drums. Or a whole stage?

I try to be good, I really do... then I'm in town and there's Wargames Emporium and off I go, 'just to have a look'. So I came out with some Uruk-hai from the Games Workshop LoTR range that I'm going to convert into Noise cultists (no point in taking pictures of those yet) and a little tank.

Poor little tank was missing treads, both roof hatches and both side doors. It had also been given an open hatch and a twin-linked bolter turret from, I suspect, a Land Raider. So... off to the bits box to put things right, cannibalised an already partially demolished Tonka bulldozer for its tracks (not shown) and pulled some old Rhino hatches out of the bits box. Now, to fill the big hatch hole at the back I used two buttons, as in the sort of thing you sew onto a coat. This gave me a fantastic ceiling rose for the interior, to which I've fixed a crystal 'light'. Classy. This then got me thinking about the Cult of Noise theme, so the side doors have become speakers, made from thin card, more buttons and speaker mesh... they don't really show up at the moment, but paint will sort that out. Decorated the chimney stacks with High Elf shield bosses and the back end of the tank with a couple of Orc/Goblin deelies.

@ Morgrim - all will make sense when I paint the headlights on

@Natorum - No, no chavs in my army. Bad Natorum, no biscuit

@CommissarKhaine - Neat idea, would work with the theme... but I sort of like that axe... decisions, decisions.

@Flashman - You're too kind.
