Nah. They've kept Farsight pretty consistent as the "better than average at close combat" Tau.

What I'd love to see for Farsight, though, is the restriction on Pathfinders and Stealth teams lifted, or options to take "elite" Fire Warrior squads.

But neither here nor there.

They need weapon options for this kit badly. It looks like the underslung burst cannons are a separate piece from the side/rear view, but slapping lunchbox style missile pods on in its place would look horrendous. I want these, but I want to make fireknives and a Farsight.

They're making weapon options for the XV-9. They've said so repeatedly. They even say in the missive that it's the "first weapon option setup" or words to that effect.

I doubt you'll see missile pods for em, most likely just Fusion, Plasma, and Flamers, as they're supposed to be a close range in your face suit.

Its not that hard to put missile pods on it but it will look off. I hope they go the whole range.

Also its more posable than the others. Look at the pictures you can pose it to varying degrees which is really nice.

Runnin up on ya.

I like it but I wish they had used the regular burst cannons instead of the stealth suit ones.

mmmm 6 twinlinked shots from one suit. I like it, I really do. Even nurgle marines would die from a hail of fire originating from 3 of those suits. Somebody do the mathhammer for me.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

I like it, but it's just not Tau enough, even compared to the other FW suit varieties.

I think the Cogs would use this as target practice.

The legs look all wrong. The stubs near the 'knees' would quickly be abandoned in field testing, the shoulders look non practical. Heaven forbid a branch or something gets in that big whole there and jam up the inner workings.

There's no place to store the huge amount of ammo that would need to feed all those guns. It uses the same size barrel for two guns as the normal suit uses for one.

The jet pack doesn't look like it could left the suit and certainly wouldn't be capable of much movement.

The only decent thing is the head and that is not much.

Did the engineers consider stealth suits with flamers? They'd seem much more practical than this.

Over at AdvancedTauTactica a guy posted about what he talked about to the Forgeworld guys at a gamesday event. I distinctly remember him saying they said one of the other weapons coming out will be a "Fusion Cascade Blaster." Whatever that means, it sounds badass. More MEQ killy weapons, please!

Wow. If GW follows this aesthetic and redoes Crisis suits, I'd buy them.

For now, I'd probably only use this to convert Commander Farsight. FW prices are too much for me to justify anything more.

I think there's a seat in the torso, but GW art's never really shown the inside.

That said, if we go by the GW art in the Tau Codex, Battle suits should actually probably be half again as large as the model is in relation to the Fire Warriors.

I agree , looks like Cog mixed with Gundam .
Which reminds me , the next time GW updates Tau , will they consider redoing the suits?

THEY'VE WIPED OUT 80% OF OUR LEO'S!!!

In all seriousness, I like the design of the suit, but don't think it had much more practical application than Stealth Suits.

The Hit and Run special rule is nice (via VT), and the addendum about sacrificing drones to automatically get away is a great addition. I am not sure why they needed to make a special rule though at the end, to explain exactly what a Bonding Knife already does.

I'm going to wait and see what other equipment setups it gets. If it gets a multi-shot melta, I may get six.

My hope is that they use this as a basis for remodeled crisis suits. Well that or they follow their actual art and concepts when doing the next round. The current set are god awful and the proportions look nothing like the art.

Me too Shuma. I was really disappointed when I discovered the Robert Cirillo concept art and found that GW had decided not to use one of his crisis suit designs, instead opting for plastic stealth suits which weren't really that necessary. A lot of people still prefer the old metals, the main reason I see people buying plastic stealths is so they can use the bits to make their crisis suits look better, lol...not to mention the rules for them suck so no one uses stealths anyway.

I'm both looking forward to and dreading the next release...not just because there's a chance our codex could really suck, like the CSM and DA 'dexes, but because I'm almost certain they'll be doing a new crisis suit this time around and I'll have to replace all of the ones I already have and then some. It's going to be awesome, but painful at the same time.

And we use the newer plastic Stealth Suits as a completely new unit (Crossfire Battlesuits), and use the old Stealth Suits as Stealth Suits.

You can find concept art for the crisis suits, auxiliaries, etc. there, and the artist's website.

Those suits designs are indeed quite awesome, and I'm going to have to use that Crossfire name for my XV-25 "counts as" Crisis Suits.

Am I the only person that liked the new suits and think the old ones were pretty poor? They were basically fire warriors holding guns that they couldn't reasonably wield. My issue is just that stealth suits aren't really good at anything except anti infantry. They can only have a single fusion blaster and none of their weapons have enough range to make use of the stealth field. If they could have rail rifles they would be fantastic, but as they are they're schizophrenic.

I like the look of them, don't get me wrong...though I don't like how bulky they look. I realize the "stealth" comes from a Predator-styled cloaking device thing (well, I assume anyway), but still, for something that's meant to be stealthy it's pretty damn big. I just would have rather had a new crisis suit kit before a stealth suit kit.
