@BrookM: Yep, agreed. But what was nice was that GW sold the BT Crusader and BT Vehicle sprues separately. I only bought the Crusader sprues.
I guess GW got the message because the follow-up DA's have no vehicle upgrade sprues, but instead got full bodies which are far more useful.
And now the SW's go an extra step of giving lots more heads & such.
I'm kind of curious to see how the BA sprues turn out, because visually, they're not obvious compared to Knights / Monks / Vikings, and the balance of bitz one presumes will be further refined yet again.

I'm starting to ask myself "Can I do without Games Workshop."
I just don't care for the direction the company seems to be taking, and frankly their business practices leave a bad taste in my mouth.
I still love the qaulity of their minis, but I'm asking myself more and more if I can,in good conscience, support a company I don't respect.
I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.
Give up nerd stuff for athletics??? Now that's blasphemous.

How about getting back to playing in a band?
You people with talent and skills are beginning to annoy me.

I wasn't aware GW was changing their target demographic from nerd boys to teenage girls...
Still, at least the GW Intarwebz will finally learn what "drama" means!
(but if GW really is doing Vamps, bwahaha, I guess I'm playing a Raven Guard successor what follows similar AM-heavy tactics)
Looked into Solorg's swap shop thread to consider Clan War miniatures, but
my problem with Clan War is that the miniatures that he has are either too weird (I'm
not into the snake things) or not weird enough (most of the samurai look like they
could pass as historical figs).
It's making me reconsider picking up Perry Brothers's Samurai figs and just
painting them in unrealistic colors.

Hrm. Guess I'll see if someone local buys Invasion. It's Fantasy Flight, and them I
DO want to support, but the licensing monies go to GW :(

I'd argue its more Kurasawa-esque colors. I thought that the L5R table game was dead! (ok, hoped. I have far too many samurai in a box)

Giving up GW for a year is just a way to get *more* stuff.
Try a garage kit or two.
A new airbrush....

It's almost the end of the year and I have spent nothing on GW since last December I believe. So I have completed a year of not buying anything GW related!
Of course this is also because of school, other interests, and so on, but still. I'm happy with myself, haha. It's not that hard if you don't focus on it.

No airbrushing for me. There's nowhere to really run the thing in this house.

I might start up a Heavy Gear force. There's a couple of Heavy Gear players in my area, the models look alright (and there are neat starter packs for small strike forces) They also seem quite easy to paint, but I'll probably have to finish buying things for my Ork Army before I start up Heavy Gear things.
I've been into battlemechs for a while, and I like the scale and rules of Heavy Gear. There is no-one in this region who plays WM though (I mean, the store sells them, and I've been looking into a Protectorate force, but if I do it, it'll be to just paint)

QFT. At least I hope so! This is my strategy with warhammer fantasy...
I'm considering joining either this or the other "not buying GW product" movements. To do so for the entire coming year does seem enticing. I would fall into the "not buying because I'm still painting/finishing my previous purchases" camp, but still.
I committed to buying the dragon from heresy miniatures whenver it's finished (I put down the down payment almost a year ago now). That's not a lot of purchases from different companies, but it's a large one! I'll be adding the dragon to my high elf army.
If I buy anything else, I'd like to add this Troll-forged miniature to my lizardmen army:
I'd love to support other, smaller companies, for any additional purchases I make this year, as long as I can use the models with one of my two armies (not at a GW store, of course). So it has to be lizard-y or elf-y
Yup Andy's dragon is nearly finished CANT wait .... *froth*
Automatically Appended Next Post: on topic. games options -SFB (star fleet battles) a system with no grey areas in the rules. hex based board, loads of fun with 2+ persons. -as always Battle tech. -Clayorama, you need to play in a place without carpet but we from the old school remembr this one fondly.
-Paranoia (trust the computer..... ZAP!) you need a twisted mind to GM it though. -Tales of the floating vagabond (best items list of any gaming system, Disagree and your ancestors should have never came down from the trees.) -axis and allies for just a realy good board game. (if you leave out the industrial advances its well balanced.) -Illuminati (no not the movie, steve jackson games. No not the GW) Card / build game where UFO's Chthulu, ort he bavarian illuninati plus otheres, slug it out for world donination. contains cards like I LIED!, and trekies. great fun. -Lunch money: quick card game. your a lil girl go beat up everyone and take their lunch money. silly? not when you catch a round house to the side of the head. good fun, a light side and brutal.

For a good card game, I really love Race for the Galaxy.
But that's an easy game to get. Buy the set, next month
buy the expansion, buy the next expansion, yer done.
Not really a collector's/hobbyist's type of thing :(

Has anyone in this thread played FFG "Chaos in the Old World" (think thats what it's calledd)? It looks fun but almost too pricy for a game that I might buy and nobody wants to play.
I'd go a year without GW but I'm building a Tau army through trades and dealings on Bartertown and Ebay and I just can't NOT buy a Trygon or two in January when the plastic is out. Especially not at $49.50.
--The whole concept of government granted and government regulated 'permits' and the accompanying government mandate for government approved firearms 'training' prior to being blessed by government with the privilege to carry arms in a government approved and regulated manner, flies directly in the face of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.
“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government.”
I'm just going to go ahead and commit myself to this... no games workshop for one year!! (major note/caveat- just like malfred, this does not mean no MINIATURES for a year... just no GW ones!)
We should have support meetings like AA... or something
